Poputepipikku is a bit more disjointed than Space Dandy, but they're both totally off the wall and poke fun at numerous anime tropes. There's little to no continuity in either, and each is full of cartoon antics--exactly what animation was meant for!

They both follow a generally episodic format, allowing for world breaking, reality warping shenanigans. Both are full of rich, popping colors while sporting unique and technologically brilliant animation styles (yes, plural). Both shows are about the same length (Space☆Dandy has one more episode at 13) and both have a second season.
If you watch the English dubs, there are a lot of cross-overs as well (namely Dandy/Bob Epic Team's Pipimi).
