Persona 3 the Movie 1: Spring of Birth

Persona 3 is better enjoyed as a game rather than an anime, but the movies do a fairly good job at representing the main cast and plot. The inspiration that Persona takes from Eva should be fairly clear in its characters and general plot structure. Both have school/social life mixed in with deep characterization and periodic action sequences. The mechs/personas used to fight enemies are intricately tied to the person using them.

For better or worse, Persona 3 is literally reskinned Evangelion down to the voice actors and one of the characters (that has the same VA in both titles), except Persona is based on Jung and Eva is based on Freud.
Both have extremely similar themes with different executions. Both series focus on death giving life meaning, depression, acceptance, the importance of human connection, hedgehogs dilemma, and apocalyptic events. They also share very similar character tropes. Chances are if you like one you will most certainly like the other
