Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me

It takes a special kind of anime to make a line like "then they had a lot of sex" to actually sound cute and wholesome. The second season expands on the story of the first, with more vignettes set in the past and back stories for other characters like the otaku husbands little brother and the office lady wife's friend. Despite all the challenges, this couple with mismatched personalities is committed to understanding each other. The series is a perfect example of Japanese "was" or social harmony between all the different characters. Of course they both have their insecurities, but they take the time to ... always talk things out, and make things work.

I was a bit worried about the second season of this show, as the first one's ending suggested the child and the way it changes the protagonist's relationship would be the main theme... But that's only partially the case, as the unrelated slice-of-life moments are also very much present. The funny and wholesome tone is very much sustained, along with the pretty on-point commentary on modern marriage.

For purely subjective reasons I'll rate this slightly lower than the first season (I just really don't like children and I'm very happy my relationship is by mutual agreement devoid of those :P) and a few episodes were a ... bit whimsical/random, but overall, this is still a surprisingly good and meaningful show for a short-form anime. Particularly if you're old enough to fully appreciate its main themes.

I quite enjoyed I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying season 1. Season 2 is not terrible, but is less essential than that first one. The first one is just so adorable and wholesome, and season 2 is still adorable and wholesome, but the introduction of other characters and having them have their own arcs in an anime that is already extremely short as it is leaves little room for the main characters to have a beautiful moment. There are nice moments on here, don't get me wrong; I mostly enjoyed this anime, but season 2 is not as good as the first. It ... just is what it is.

The animation style is rather simple. The three minute episodes are easy to digest. The story is cute. It's just not enough altogether to make for a good second season. It was fine, and if you watched the first season, you might as well watch this one too, but it just won't feel as important.
