Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu.

Takato Saijou has held the title of "Sexiest Man of the Year" for five years running. He is an accomplished actor, with 20 years of experience under his belt, and is aware his good looks are well above average. Proud of his career, Takato regards the title as an appropriate indicator of his success.

But when his reign is ended by acting newbie Junta Azumaya, who debuted only three years ago, Takato's initial shock gives way to jealous hostility. Even in the new drama that he has been cast in, Junta seems to have suddenly surpassed him; snatching Takato's usual spot of lead actor, Junta continually manages to get on his nerves. Most infuriating of all are the bright smile and kind words that accompany everything Junta does.

All this animosity comes to a head, however, when Junta catches Takato in a rather vulnerable drunken state. Endangering his own public image, Takato confronts the junior actor with harsh words and angry comments—an opportunity Junta takes every advantage of. With the famous actor Takato Saijou now on video picking a fight with a co-star, Junta has the perfect means to blackmail him.

Asking the price of his enemy's silence, Takato is shocked to find that his motivation lies far from advancing his career; instead, Junta's terms are those that can only be realized in the bedroom!

I would like to start off this review by saying that this anime is absolutely NOT for everyone. Even if you're a BL fan, this may not be up your alley if you dislike rape tropes, yanderes, drugging and generally very unethical behavior being shown in a comedic light. There's a lot of discourse in the BL community over what's acceptable and what isn't and a general agreement both sides should settle on is that the issue is nuanced and people should just abide by DLDR/W.

This anime is a hot mess but once the messiness is embraced then it becomes incredibly enjoyable. Dakaretai should never ... be taken seriously and those who do should watch something else because most of the events that occur are resolved in the most nonsensical ways possible. If you're looking for a BL to pass time that has minimal angst and an entertaining plot then this is definitely the anime for you. Dakaretai should be considered a modern BL classic with the way it exhibits classic tropes of its genre (e.g. yandere stalker seme, tsun uke, height difference) while also integrating new ones that are more common in newer BL (e.g. older uke, younger seme).

If the above points aren't convincing enough then the star-studded cast is also a good reason to watch it. The animation may feel a bit janky at times but this was definitely due to the incredible seiyuu lineup who really brought these characters to life. Hiroki Takahashi's performance as Takato is arguably the best as his mature voice deeply enhances the audience's viewing experience. However, earphones are required when watching this anime cause... yk why.

Mixed Feelings

Rivalry between two top actors twists into an obsessive, tangled power game where pride and lust collide under studio lights. Fame and public image mean nothing once the cameras stop rolling, the feelings do. Tension drips from every stolen glance and backhanded compliment. One chases, the other pretends to run, but neither wants to stop.

Let me start off with this; There had been too many moments that push consent into uncomfortable gray zones, and it was quite distasteful at times. MANY of the interactions were unconsented for and we were just lucky that Saijo just so happened to like it and eventually accept the ... fact that he was being harassed. It did gross me out in the beginning when he was into it. Repeatedly, I stopped watching and left it on standby, not going back to it until a week or two later.

Animation holds up well enough to spotlight every expression. Soundtrack hums along, mostly forgettable except when silence does the real work. Arguably, the op and ending wasn't as catchy for me. There was potential for this to be better, in many aspects. The romance scenes seemed very generic, and it seemed as if the team was rushing to get the anime finished at the end. The ending was not as satisfying as i anticipated, and it would've been better with more scenes of Saijo and Azumaya. It was a fairly quick watch (if you were to be consistent, unlike me), and i would recommend it to someone who wants a simple BL, nothing too deep.

Watch with headphones. TOO MUCH MOANING AND SOFT CORN.

(Side note, the live action was hot garbage.)

"Consent? what consent?" this garbage of an anime said, while holding this wonderful thing called consent in it's hands. And then, said garbage, tosses it out the window as if it's not even worthy the grace of a speck of dust.

Look, I really wanted to watch some bl. But, yk, there is barely any. So then I remembered this one existed. So I was like, "hm why not?"

... Good question!

Every single minute, no, second, of watching this anime, I thought to myself "I should just stop." I HATED it. But you know what, I thought maybeee this fuck head called Junta would have some character ... development, and, like, you know, redeem himself in some way. Or maybe he'd get the karma he deserves. Or at least have the mc (wtv tf his name was) call the damn cops on him, OR JUST LEAVE HIM. But nope. Wasted my time watching this.

Also, I can kinda tell this anime (or manga, idfk,) tried to make the whole thing somewhat consensual. By twisting the meaning of no into a yes....

Yeah nevermind.
