Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle

The world is divided into two kingdoms: the Kingdom of White, which floats in the heavens and is ruled by their queen Iris, and the Kingdom of Black, which stands upon desolate land below and houses the King of Darkness as its ruler. As of late, forces of evil have amassed great power, posing a threat to the entire world. Being the main representative of the Light, it is Iris' duty to maintain the balance of the world and fight off the darkness in her kingdom.

Meanwhile in the Kingdom of Black, rampaging monsters annihilate a certain boy's village, leaving him the sole survivor. As he grieves in hopelessness, an armored man named Skeer notices the child and comforts him. Soon after, Skeer recognizes the boy's potential to change the kingdom's status quo and makes him his heir before passing away. The boy then vows to become the Prince of Darkness—the one who will replace the King—to bring the world back to its rightful path.

As Iris and Prince of Darkness each challenge the impending doom the world faces in their own respective ways, their destinies will converge with each other, and perhaps, their bond will decide the fate of the world.

I don't understand all the hate. it had real potential................til the ending.

WARNING: Small spoilers included for the ending of show and for ending of kong vs godzilla.

which is literally one of the worst endings I ever seen. A nobody wins, everyone loses ending. hell even the new Kong vs Godzilla movie ending was better, atleast there was a clear victor if it wasn't for Robozilla interfering and then they all of sudden become buddy buddy. Literally no winner when the entire damn show was around a war.


so in the end if you don't mind disappointing endings, its a decent show.........til he end................... then its just ... awful. like 1 point score bad

Mixed Feelings

Well... It's not a good anime is the best way to sum up Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle.

We start out really bad, with a nameless character who by the way never gets a name. The largest problem is that he is the most interesting character. Now the main character being the most interesting would be a good thing if we actually spent any amount of time on him, but we kind of don't.

At first we do get to see him quite a bit as we see him become the prince of darkness and the first heir to the throne of darkness. However after that ... we just start focusing way too heavily of the queen of light's side of the story. We still see the main character, but honestly we explain the kingdom of light way better than dark. The same could be said for the queen vs the prince.

There are a few points where the anime picks up, but the lack of certain character explanations and just general lack of substance leads to 6/10 for story.

The art is anywhere from kind of alright to pretty good for a few frames at a time. Cg is used more than I would prefer, and isn't very well hidden. However the use of cg is not overwhelming. Overall it's actually alright, not impressive, but acceptable. 7/10

The characters are not half bad, but the black kingdom characters lack any real explanation in varying areas of their overall background and driving motivations. A couple characters just pull 180s with little warning, but while this could have been interesting, ultimately it leaves little impact and is more jarring than anything else. The light kingdom characters are kind of bland at first, but they start to become pretty interesting in the end. Their are these weird four comedic relief characters that are in like three episodes and we kind of just ignore their existence for the most part, so I don't know what to make of that. The characters and their development wasn't all bad, but wasn't mostly good either. Overall the characters had potential, but the lack of explanation and sudden changes that have no real impact lead me to a 6/10 for characters.

The sound is actually pretty decent. I watched the dub, and most of the character voices were pretty decent. In the beginning the queen of light seems to have a lisp or something weird, but it goes away after the first episode or two. The music is pretty average for most of it with some point being pretty good. There is the weird theme they keep trying to use for the queen and the progenitor gem or whatever it's called, and the singing isn't bad, but it's jarring and rubs me the wrong way. Overall I thought the music and character voices were decent, 7/10.

I enjoyed at times, and not at other times. I don't know how to critique enjoyment so I'll just say my score, 6/10.

Overall it wasn't the worst anime, kind of bland, but not overly offensive. It had potential, but ultimately kind of wasted it, 6/10.

It feels like someone watched a handful of other fantasy anime and thought, “I can do this better”—but unfortunately, that’s not what happened here. The premise had potential, and the core story could have been compelling. But instead of developing the world and characters meaningfully, most of the 12 episodes are filled with filler-like, directionless content.

The pacing suffers immensely from trying to compress a potentially rich narrative into too few episodes, leaving behind a hollow shell of what might’ve been. The atmosphere of the anime feels stuck between eras—too dated to match modern visual standards, yet not old enough to be considered stylistically retro. Visually, ... it's forgettable.

Overall, both the story and the art style are unremarkable. I struggled to stay awake through the episodes—not just because I was tired, but because the series failed to hold my attention. As a fan of fantasy, adventure, and action anime, I can honestly say this was a disappointment.
