Mononogatari 2nd Season

Although Hyouma Kunato has begun to feel comfortable around Botan Nagatsuki and her family of tsukumogami—objects possessed by spirits called marebito—he has not forgotten about his main goal in life: revenge.

Unbeknownst to Hyouma, while he is training in Kyoto under the supervision of the Kadomori family, the Bureau of Traditional Music, a group of three musical instrument tsukumogami, begins to enact its plan. The trio questions Botan's family about their intentions regarding Hyouma's presence near the person embodying the frontier between the human and marebito worlds. Soon after, the paper umbrella tsukumogami that Hyouma had been pursuing for years suddenly reappears and abducts Botan along with her university friends. Rushing to save the one he swore to protect, Hyouma might have to change his priorities if he wants to keep his promise to Botan.

Mononogatari is one of those anime that feels clean and solid from every angle. The story is clear, the worldbuilding is easy to follow, and the characters all have understandable goals. The pacing is steady from start to finish—no confusing parts, no moments that drag. It’s just smooth to watch.

What I really like is how the character relationships are built slowly but naturally. The Nagatsuki family dynamic and the whole human–tsukumogami conflict actually land pretty well. Nothing overly dramatic, but still emotionally grounded.

But even with all that, there’s something missing that keeps it from hitting harder. It’s hard to describe, but the overall vibe feels… ... safe. The visuals are clean but sometimes stiff, like they lack depth. The music and atmosphere are also pretty neutral. The plot is well-structured, but it doesn’t have those “holy shit!” moments or anything that sticks in your head long after.

Not in a bad way—it's genuinely a solid anime. Just not the type that leaves a long-lasting impact.
I enjoyed watching it, but it didn’t spark that iconic or emotional punch some shows manage to pull off.

Mixed Feelings

The season 1 is actually underrated. Season 1 was definitely pretty good.
Season 2 just a disappointment in comparison of season 1.
Things I didn't liked was how the mc became from a guy with a good motive to a guy only exist for saving a girl and became shield for the girl standing in front of her through the whole season.The main villan was disappointment. The whole season 2 could be added with 4-5 more episode in season 2.
I am disappointed that the mc didn't faught Or beat a single opponent expect some clones but he was hown as some big honk or shit.

The ... story and plot was good but most of the episodes feels like a filler. But the action bgm and music were actually great made the fights more Engaging.

In the end you have to watch it after watching s1.So the review was pretty much irrelevant

I liked S1 and rated it 8/10. Season 2 though is underwhelming garbage. First 6 episodes is just a lot of useless talk just to give some minor character growth, they really should have done it more interesting way.
Second half of season is a Naruto fight, but Mononogatari doesn't have 500 episodes to afford dumb and sluggish fight like that, it wasn't even entertaining or cool.
"minor spoilers"
Besides awful pacing there are also major plotholes:
1. Nobody is protecting Nagatsuki(female MC) when she leaves the mansion. in Season 1 she gets attacked by the monster and gets saved by MC randomly, in Season 2 exactly same ... shit happens, saved by the MC instead of her literal spirit-guardians.
2. By the way. her guardian-spirits knowing that there is a bad guy that capable of beating their strongest comrade, they decide that they all should go on a meeting with some exorcist clan head which is like 100 miles away, and leave Nagatsuki at home almost by herself.
I really expected more from this anime, it was really disappointing.
