Shiunji-ke no Kodomotachi

The wealthy and esteemed Shiunji family consists of seven siblings: Banri, Seiha, Ouka, Arata, Shion, Minami, and Kotono. Arata, the family heir, is constantly teased by his sisters for his inability to find love. However, during Kotono's 15th birthday, the siblings learn a shocking, long-hidden secret—all of them are adopted!

The siblings all agree that their relationship will remain the same. But that promise does not last long, as each of the girls begins to approach Arata with intentions that go beyond sibling affection. Arata, who cherishes his family more than anything, must now find a way to protect their precious bonds and ensure that the Shiunji family never changes.

When we see an anime with 5 girls and 1 prota we already think of Go-Tōbun no Hanayome because it is a reference, we even think that it will be a generic copy but that was not really the case with this one since it focuses on developing the characters and the comedy, more than the romance itself, maybe one or another forced interaction but nothing absurd, what I missed a little was more interactions with Shion and I believe they could have developed him a little more, maybe in the manga there will be a better development or maybe in a second season, the ... animation in general is well done and I think it is worth giving a chance for those who like romantic comedy, it does not offer an intense romance but it offers a good development and some laughs

Mixed Feelings

So last week, I borrowed a new anime entitled The Shiunji Family Children (2025). I began to watch that on September 30 and, amazingly or not, concluded that soon on October 1. So, according to the internet, its genre is Romantic Comedy / Harem. But, truly, don’t blindly rely on that genre only—particularly if you’re watching this with your whole family. My advice to you is to take my word that this anime is far, far beyond being a mere rom-com.

If I had to classify it, I’d classify it as a light-ecchi anime. There’s nothing wrong with its fearless moments—kiss scenes, bikini shots, and a ... bit of suggestive material too. But make this clear, however: There’s no actual nakedness. Nevertheless, the “tone” of the series is truly not one that you can play on the living room TV with company present.

Now, without spoiling anything, let’s discuss a bit about the plot. They don’t have a large cast within season 1. The main guy is Arata and he’s living with six siblings, five of which are sisters. Their dad shows up here and there during the season, perhaps about 4-5 times. As the series unfolds, three of the girls begin to fall in love with Arata, and the whole series is about how he manages through all of these situations. Through the process, you’ll get drama, romance, humor, and even a bit of emotional instances here and there.

The comedy is relative, of course, but I found individual jokes and scenes themselves to be humorous. The novel also succeeds at keeping you engaged, even though the novel is somewhat predictable here and there.

Here’s where I really failed: the entire “siblings romance” theme. Being Indian, and keeping Hindu norms in consideration here, this aspect just cannot be accepted. “Sister is sister” to us, irrespective of blood ties or not. But here, because they’ve all co-existed for more than 16 years now, the series obliterates that boundary and takes it into a direction that really makes one feel uneasy. And yes, there were instances whereby I actually felt awkward hearing some dialogues or seeing some episodes.

That being that, having already begun with it, I decided to see it through. If I were to put aside the “siblings factor,” then truth be told, the anime itself wasn’t bad. It’s fun, the pacing is fine, and by the later episodes, the “boldness” really intensifies. By episode 12 or so, it’s just… uff, let’s just that you can’t ever recommend this to people.

So, that's my takeaway:

If you're going to see it, see it by yourself. You don't know when one of those “surrealist scenes” will appear.

It's funny and emotional, but the set-up may not be ease with by everyone.

Personally, I wouldn’t advice that to other people due to the sibling/family undertone.

Nevertheless, should you be a fan of romantic comedy with an edgy flair, then this may be worth watching—only don’t go expecting a clean-svetted rom-com. For me, I'd give it a 6/10. Not bad, not good—just one of those anime you watch, contemplate, and then forget.

If you're curious about how something decent on paper can end up a dumpster fire due to poor execution, give this a watch. Same if you want to experience a true bad romcom to appreciate the good ones more.

I have so many problems with this show, I won't repeat what most others have already stated.

This feels more like a 2000s MTV reality dating show where they have a house full of girls, raging with hormones, compete to win over a rich, square jawed investment banker. Any and all family characteristics are thrown out the window(in EP.1) so it's pure, undiluted raunchiness. The tropes ... go hard for all, yet no further at all. I struggle to care or like any of the girls, despite the signature "golf ball neon eyes" and impeccable art design.

For a future man of the house, the mc does often act like a little girl on an emotional level. Pretty much from episode 9 on he's having a mental breakdown.
For example: Quints were psychos but they had defined personalities. Here you'll find it hard to reason with why the gals act so blatantly selfish and careless. Reminds me of the twins in "indivisible by love" with how competitively trashy they are towards each other.
Go watch something else. If you really hate yourself, put on rental GF and domestic GF to get your fix. I know I'm staying away from new releases for a good while now.
