Sakamoto Days

The name Tarou Sakamoto once instilled fear in every villain. No other professional hitman matched his prowess, and fellow assassins revered him. However, Sakamoto fell in love. In five short years, he married, became a father, put on some weight, and traded his weapons for an apron as he became the owner of a humble convenience store.

Although Sakamoto is decidedly retired, he finds his old life of crime hard to shake off. His former partner, Shin Asakura, reappears and resolves to stay with Sakamoto's family under their strict no-kill rule. To make matters worse, a large bounty is placed on Sakamoto's head. Numerous assassins now pursue him—but they are in for a surprise. Sakamoto has not lost his edge, and no matter what tricks his enemies pull, he will fight off every last one to protect his dear family.

Sakamoto Days the anime that asks the one question every retired killer probably dreads:
What happens when a man who used to end lives for money tries to live a boring, normal life with a wife, a kid, and a convenience store… and the past refuses to stay dead?

The good when it works, it fucking slaps:
The action comedy combo is stupidly entertaining. Creative, over the top fights that are genuinely fun to watch. Sakamoto himself is hilarious deadpan murder machine turned chubby family man, and the contrast never gets old. The family moments actually hit you in the feels sometimes, which is more ... than most action comedies even try to do. Music bangs hard, especially the Part 2 tracks they pump you up perfectly.
Animation during fights? Clean, fluid, satisfying as hell. If you just want to turn your brain off and laugh at ridiculous violence + dad jokes, this delivers.

The bad and I’m not holding back:
The pacing is bipolar garbage. One episode you’re hyped, the next you’re staring at your phone waiting for something to happen. Filler jokes that land like wet socks. Humor is wildly inconsistent some gags are gold, most are cringe or just lazy.
The fat jokes? Embarrassing, outdated, and straight-up annoying. Side characters are forgettable walking punchlines with zero depth. The adaptation feels rushed and cheap it cuts corners on the manga’s charm and ends up shallower than a kiddie pool. Tone swings so hard between silly and “deep” that it gives you whiplash and makes you not care anymore.

Story:
Fun bursts of assassin nonsense + family warmth. But the slow parts are torture and the plot circles like it’s lost. You’ll skip forward, guaranteed.

Characters:
Sakamoto carries 90% of the show lovable goofball badass.
Everyone else? Background noise. Shallow, annoying, or both. Infuriating how little effort went into them.

Music:
Actually great. Tense, catchy, memorable. The Part 2 soundtrack especially chef’s kiss. One of the few things that doesn’t disappoint.

Visuals & Animation:
Fights look crisp and dynamic best part of the show hands down.
But outside of action? Stiff faces, lazy stills, cheap shortcuts. Looks better than it has any right to in fights, worse than it should in dialogue scenes.

Final:
Sakamoto Days is dumb, chaotic fun that’s perfect when you’re tired and just want something stupid to laugh at. Recommend it ONLY if you need a brain break and mood-lifter. Anyone looking for consistency, depth, or actual comedy timing stay far away. Wasted potential wrapped in flashy action.

Two points for the fights and music saving it from total disaster.
The rest? Frustrating mediocrity that could’ve been way better.

And the answer to that question?
No. You don’t get to retire clean. The blood always comes back knocking. Sakamoto Days rubs that truth in your face while making you laugh at how pathetic the attempt looks. Brutal, funny, and depressingly real.

Mixed Feelings

tldr; it's okay... nothing crazy good nothing crazy bad about this show

if you enjoy spy x family you'll probably like this too!!
I wld say though it's pretty corny, animation is okay (s2 is better in terms of that), plot is pretty predictable, as well as the characters in the show.

I'm glad the main characters of this show are mostly adults with no weird pervy side character. shin and sakamoto make decent protags, but shaotang and the sniper dude seems to be there just for variety. some parts did make me giggle as the villains in this season are more on the funny/less serious side.

my biggest ... complaint is how surface-level all the characters and the plot seems to be; world-building & character development lacks heavy in this.

BUT!! overall, if you need something easy to watch after any sad/angst anime, sakamoto days is a fine option!

Unfortunately, the anime was very bad and far below expectations.
The story is clichéd and overused. I expected at least the events to be entertaining, innovation isn’t always necessary as long as the story progresses in an enjoyable way ,but even that didn’t happen.

The “daily life” elements are very ordinary and repetitive, following the same pattern as older works: every episode introduces a new character who then joins the group. It failed on both fronts
the episodes aren’t enjoyable, and the characters aren’t well written.

The blond character who can read minds is extremely plain and not unique at all; he only compensates for Sakamoto, who is always ... silent.
The Chinese girl feels like a copy of Kagura from Gintama, but worse no comedic sense and no good design.

The biggest mistake is that the protagonist is always silent, yet suddenly acts “cool” during fights, even without any emotion. We learned that his wife loves him, but we didn’t learn anything about him besides being the best professional assassin.

If this anime had come out ten years ago, it might have succeeded, but now this style is worn out.
And the season ends with a cliffhanger: they are raided by major killers from outside Japan.

القصة مبتذلة ومكررة. كنت أتوقع على الأقل أن تكون الأحداث مسلية، فالابتكار ليس ضروريًا دائمًا طالما أن القصة تتطور بطريقة ممتعة، لكن حتى هذا لم يحدث.

عناصر "الحياة اليومية" عادية ومتكررة للغاية، وتتبع نفس نمط الأعمال القديمة: كل حلقة تقدم شخصية جديدة تنضم إلى المجموعة.
فشل الأنمي في كلا الجانبين: الحلقات غير ممتعة، والشخصيات مكتوبة بشكل رديء.

الشخصية الشقراء التي تستطيع قراءة الأفكار عادية جدًا وغير مميزة على الإطلاق؛ إنها فقط تعوض عن ساكاموتو، الصامت دائمًا.

الفتاة الصينية تبدو كنسخة من كاجورا من جينتاما، بل أسوأ - تفتقر إلى حس الفكاهة والتصميم الجيد.

الخطأ الأكبر هو أن البطل صامت دائمًا، ثم يتصرف فجأة بروعه أثناء القتال، حتى بدون أي انفعال. علمنا أن زوجته تحبه، لكننا لم نعرف عنه شيئًا سوى أنه أفضل قاتل محترف.

لو صدر هذا الأنمي قبل عشر سنوات، لربما حقق نجاحًا، لكن هذا الأسلوب أصبح مبتذلًا الآن.
وينتهي الموسم بنهاية مفتوحة: يتعرضون لهجوم من قبل قتلة محترفين من خارج اليابان.
