had low expectations for this considering the first season was pretty uneventful, but I'm pleasantly surprised!!!
this season sets up the premise for what I assume will be the meat of the whole plot, and we get to know a some new characters (akira, mafuyu) as well as the villains - slur & gaku, etc.
character wise:
the other side-characters introduced are still pretty surface-level though, and unfortunately because of that; I'm only interested in the shin and the order. the author should spend more time developing the characters of the main protags, rather than adding repetitive side characters.
other than that, the fights were whole

tldr; it's okay... nothing crazy good nothing crazy bad about this show
if you enjoy spy x family you'll probably like this too!! I wld say though it's pretty corny, animation is okay (s2 is better in terms of that), plot is pretty predictable, as well as the characters in the show. I'm glad the main characters of this show are mostly adults with no weird pervy side character. shin and sakamoto make decent protags, but shaotang and the sniper dude seems to be there just for variety. some parts did make me giggle as the villains in this season are more on the funny/less serious side. my biggest ...

Anime & mangas about killing demons/monsters has saturated the shounen genre and there is nothing Kaijuu 8-gou has to offer that other shounen anime (released up till date) don't have. While I appreciate the premise of an older, adult being the main protagonist, the story fails to compel me in any way.
The excessive flashbacks to his childhood, blatant plot armour, and the uninteresting protagonist was predictable & boring. Compared to other popular shounen anime that rely on similar storyline such as AOT or JJK, Eren's & Yuji's exploration of their new found power was realistic & their growth was enjoyable to watch.
