Witch Hunter Robin

Both shows focus on the slow unravaling of a mystery and conspracy through police work and investigation, with small bits of action in between. Both have a case of interesting characters, great music, and high production values. 

People with mysterious supernatural abilities join secret organizations designed to watch/control other people with similar abilities 

Similar premise to both shows, superpowered people in a quasi-future society, both centered around a character with above average powers that seem conflicted. Both have elements of mystery, Darker than BLACK just feels a little more hardcore. 

They are both similar in that they have a dark and ominous overtone throughout each anime, giving them a sense of realism and making the characters seem as thought they could live in a darker more fantastic world much like our own. Also both anime are based around characters that deal with supernatural powers or they themselves have supernatural powers. 

Both anime are about peaple with supernatural powers and about organizations trying to control/eliminate such peaple. They also have somwhat more subtle character development than usual "from powerless idiot to superhero" seen so often in more common anime. 

Very similar themes and both protagonists face the same kind of conflict about what they are. Shadow organizations, a slow start, a quite a few stand-alone episodes make them even more similar. 

They both involve super-powered individuals in a near-future setting with some sci-fi elements, powerful shadowy organizations and stuff. The factual, thematic similarities aside, if you're done watching one and looking for a similar show, you should check out the other  

Both revolve around a small group of people with certain abilities and follow a "case of the week" sort of pace until the end where they both break into their main story arcs dealing with the mysterious pasts of the protagonists. 

Both shows are about worlds in which a small percentage of humanity have magical-type powers, and in both worlds, there are shadowy, secretive organisations trying to understand, control and exploit those powers. On the ground, these efforts involve small, elite teams who, as they go about their business, learn more than they ever wanted to and more than they should have about what really goes on behind the scenes. The two shows also share dark colour palettes and dour male leads. WHR keeps a narrower focus and thus does more to develop and reveal its characters, who generally are more realistic than in KnK. The music is also some of the best of any show. So overall, I think WHR is better but once I got past the first couple of episods of KnK, I quite enjoyed it too. read more 

Witch Hunter Robin and Darker Than Black both focus on organizations that deal with those who have supernatural powers, one being witches and the other "Contractors." The episodes run in a similar "monster of the week" fashion while developing the characters and story into something bigger and better later on. If you are a fan of either show, I would highly recommend the other. 

Both are about people with special abilities. Dark atmosphere! Keeps you on the edge of your seat. A lot of plot twists! Not to scary, but not a children's show. I really enjoyed both of these that I am alway rewatching them and seeing things I missed the first time around! 

The general atmosphere in these animes are very similar. There are minimal cute/funny elements, the general color of the series is black. However, the complex plot with sudden twists and climax makes these series beautiful works of art. 

They have the same director and a very similar atmosphere. More "realistic" character designs with a very dark color palette. There is a perpetual lingering sense of mystery and distrust about who is the real enemy which maintains an air of intrigue. Ergo Proxy is a bit better as a whole with more developed elements like character development, world-building, and the music.  

Both have similar dark tones in their story lines, as well as a very deep psychological aspect. As well as a similar style in art and experiences with the "supernatural". It also helps that both anime have the same director ;)  

Both series have the same director, simlur animation style, similar character designs, the plots are a little alike, and they are both pretty dark. They both also share the same "atmosphere" and "feeling". Also R-el reminds me of Robin (and they both even have weird hair styles that are alike), and the "vilians" in both series are very much alike, and in both series your really not sure if the bad guys are all that "bad". Also both series will have you asking "What the HELL is going on" multiple times. Oh and both series have disapointing endings."WHR" has one of the worst endings I've ever seen, and "Ergo Proxy" seems to have more to say, but doesn't. I think "Witch Hunter Robin" is slightly marked by poor writing too. However Dai Sato makes sure that "Ergo Proxy" does not fall into the same trap "Witch Hunter Robin" did. Both series are great anime, for those who don't need riveting action every single minute, but would instead like some smart, interesting, and suspenseful shows. They are both evenly paced (although Ergo Proxy does get a little too slow at some points) mature, and have a great mystery, and up until the end in both shows your never quite sure what's what, and what's going on.  read more 

Similar character design (and animation, having the same director), dark atmosphere and somber mood, bland persona and painfully slow pacing. Both anime are mature, on the supernatural and psychological side; are ruled by black and consequently almost colorless; have no light-hearted moments at all. Ergo Proxy is more philosophical, complicated and 'edgy' than WHR, but they share a very disappointing ending. 

Witch Hunter Robin has the same ambience as Ergo Proxy. Very similar airs of mystery permeate both shows and both of the heroines have some mystery about themselves that they don't fully understand. Witch Hunter Robin is similar to Ergo Proxy (or vice versa) in a number of ways, not just because of the heroines similarity to each other but also because of overarching themes of distrust and ambiguity about who is the real enemy. Both shows share a sense of suspense and have several plot twists. The artwork and color palette of each show is similar and the way characters eyes are drawn is also strikingly similar. I don't know if the two shows were done by the same team or anything like that, in fact I'm still finishing up Witch Hunter Robin. Buy the similarities between these two shows that I started noticing as soon as the first episode grew to be too numerous to put off writing a recommendation any longer. If you enjoyed Ergo Proxy, you might find Witch Hunter Robin similarly thought provoking.  read more 

Both series' plots feel very similar, in terms of both the overall tone as well as the fact that they both deal with supernatural elements. The art style and all of the main characters from both shows also seem very similar. 

Both are neo-noir anime which revolve around the mystery regarding mysterious beings- Proxies in Ergo Proxy and Witches in Witch Hunter Robin. And as typical of film noir, almost nobody can considered truly good or evil, though such characters do exist in both shows. They also both have the same director. In many ways, Vincent and Re-L are gender-flipped versions of Robin and Amon- Vincent and Robin are both shy, reserved yet kind-hearted people with a mysterious past and immense power that they can neither fully control nor comprehend, while Re-L and Amon are both pale-skinned, black-haired special agents who wear longcoats, can fight evenly with the beings of the series and often go from protecting the main character one minute to trying to kill them the next, though they ultimately warm up to them overtime. "Ergo Proxy" has better plot and animation, while "Witch Hunter Robin" has better music. Still, if you like one, I'm pretty sure you will like the other. read more 

Both are spooky themed goth stoires with a strong female lead action packed and also lots of really nice art and character designs too. 

Plot of both series is "young girl joins an agency hunting 'abnormal' people". Robin is a witch hunting witches, and one of members of the agency can't leave the office building because he's a criminal; enforcers are latent criminals hunting latent criminals and cannot leave the building without supervising. 

In both series, there's the theme of finding individuals who are considered a threat to society and the world they live in. The main protagonists uses their skills, knowledge, and tools to accomplish this task. Both series involves mystery and detective fiction dealing with the police/crime force. Both series has action, drama, and supernatural elements involved. There is also a dark atmosphere in both series that gives off a similar feeling. 

Similar vibe. Both have a young, female protagonist starting work in a law enforcement-type organisation in which she is backed up by a small team. Both involve the use of unusual guns, or at least; ammunition. 

Focusing solving murders made by craft users (witches). Both mysteries and darkness some nice frightening crimes too none the lesssome crimes which you will judge and then u change u mind!  

These two anime get pretty dark at times and follow similar themes and character builds, to make it simple they both have the same kinda vibe, however Robins plot only really fits in round ep 15, at least it as one though ^-^ 

Both being mystery themed shows with dark eerie atmospheres to them also its moments of action too and it having a female lead as well too. 

In both animes the is a similar kind of story of joining up with a group to hunt down your own kind in order to protect human kind. both animes are action packed and have a very good story line.  

Both series presents a similar feeling that involves the world of the supernatural. Both series contains a main protagonist who is considered a "hunter" of sorts, who often gets into fights while questioning on who they are themselves. Both series contain a lot of action, drama, and explores the issue of identity in some cases. It has a serious tone and as well as an eerie soundtrack with the backgrounds. 

Both are dark supernatural horror themed stories, that focus around a group characters belonging to an organization that deals in taking down supernatural threats.  

Both shows are very similar in the way they are arranged. Ghost in the Shell has both stand alone and complex episodes nearly all the way through, and Witch Hunter Robin starts with unrelated 'stand alone' episodes before getting into the actual 'complex' story. Both anime are fairly dark and mysterious, and both also involve a special police force like team. Section 9 in Ghost in the Shell, and the STN-J in Witch Hunter Robin. While they share many differences, Ghost in the Shell and Witch Hunter Robin also share many similarities. 

Witch Hunter Robin and GITS:SAC both follow teams of superhuman quasi-police specialized in hunting down special criminals (cyber-terrorists and witches, respectively). They combine stand alone episodes with an overarching plot to create a cohesive whole. 

Just very similar vibes with the characters and story, GitS is for sure better but GitS is the best anime I've ever seen so that doesn't really say much. Robin definitely lacks a few things that GitS did well but the shows still feel very similar IMO. If you liked GitS then you'll probably like Robin and if you loved GitS then you'll definitely like Robin. If you liked Robin then you'll definitely like GitS and if you loved Robin then I'd say there's a decent chance GitS will become one of your favourite shows ever. 

They both have to deal with in a way vampires when you think about it cause what saya is fighting in Blood + is in fact a vampire when you start to think about the fact they need blood to live 

Both are supernatural anime featuring a young girl with mysterious supernatural powers and origins, who becomes partnered with a tall, black-haired man who also has supernatural powers and acts as the heroine's protector and possible lover. They even have the same voice actors in the dub (Kari Wahlgren and Crispin Freeman). In both cases, they work for an organization tasked with fighting and defeating supernatural beings (Witches and Chiropterans) who are treated as monsters at first but become more nuanced and sympathetic overtime. "Blood+" has a better story, while "Witch Hunter Robin" has better music and voice acting and slightly better characters. If you like one, then the other should appeal to you as well. read more

Law and Order Both shows feature a similar idea. (Going after dangerous individuals with powers) Both shows have a "case of the week" approach initially before going onward to a progressive main storyline. Both shows have underlying conspiracies and a semi-resolved story. if You're in the mood for something lighter in tone then the Wizard Barristers will be happy to take you. But if you're in the mood or something darker, then the Witch Hunters will be right with you.

(If my memory did not fail me, Wolf's Rain's plot was not as complex as that of Witch Hunter Robin and Ergo Proxy.) 

Both contain that dark atmosphere, they both aired right next to each other on [adult swim] back in 2004, they both have great soundtracks, both have supernatural elements. 

both are dark supernatural stories with an episodic format and a nice to look at art and character designs too. 

Both are dark action theme stories that focus on hunting down supernatural threats. 

Trigun's unique storyline of morality upheld by a sense of character justice is the same basis of Witch Hunter Robin. While Trigun's attractive main character provides an entire life biography, Witch Hunter Robin shows a glimpse of her magical life; setting the viewer as a third person limited omniscient.  

Both are focused on a detective agency dealing suspicious stuff specially supernatural stuff and lots of action in them as well too. 

If you have seen Boogiepop And others and like me was disappointed, you should see Witch Hunter Robin. It is also a mystery anime within a supernatural framework, but unlike Boogiepop it is actually good.  

Robin and Lain are very similar in personality and go through similar experiences when they come into their power. And honestly two of the best openings I've ever heard, and they both have that weird art style/editing that everyone seems to hate (I love it). Both are dark and gothic with great soundscapes to fill their more eerier moments. But if you just like how nothing makes sense here but you get a great vibe then you'll love this.  

A special organization uses half monster agents against monsters. Turns out the organization is corrupt as well. 

Both are dark themed anime original series that focus on witch hunts and strong female leads and also nice art and animation as well too.
