A bit of an tense episode. I guess it's because Tokimune being tired and all with fighting. The Argevollen isn't looking so well either.

Dat cliffhanger though. This is escalating now.

A coup d' etat in the midst of a war against a foreign enemy. I don't think this will end well for Arandas. I wonder on which side the Argevollen team will fight.

Very decent build-up episode. Arandas is in a pretty tough situation. As if the casualties from the main front weren't enough already. Cayenne is willing to do anything to achieve his goal.

With 3 episodes remaining, I really hope we get some insight on Cayenne's character, at the very least. It's not like I'm expecting much, but even the slightest bit of depth is pretty much a given. Because up untill now, his character's portrayal has been very dull.

The moment Rikuru and Kaoru came to the laundromat to pick up their clothes, I just knew one of their pantsu or bra would somehow slip up. That's just how it works.

Cayenne was acting like a boss in the face of those Generals. Even though I don't quite like his character, I somewhat support his ideals. Going for a peace treaty would put the deaths of the soldiers so far in vain. But continuing the war would also mean more deaths as well.
Anyhow, I just didn't like those 3 old Generals so my viewpoint might be biased. (^^;)

Still not sure if there's some sort of secret plan between Izumi and Samonji. Even if there is, Izumi probably didn't want to share it with Suzushiro. But I'll take a guess and say there is no such plan. With Izumi being transferred to the High Privy Council to push for peace and Samonji determined to operate the Perphevollens, they're practically in opposition to each other.

Overall. very good episode. The coup d'etat is going strong. Pretty excited for next week!

The surest way to win a war you are losing is to shoot half your own military.

Or not. I mean, if he wants to take out the generals, why not shoot them? Or contain them? Black mail them? Someone with Cayennes connections should have no problem finding some dirty laundry in their past. And if they are clean, it's not like he would morally object in fabricating something.

Instead, he pushes for infighting. I wonder why. Even if he is confident that the Perfevollen can stop Ingelmia..

I can understand his situation, especially given how the war continues anyways for now, whether they push back or not. If they would simply retreat, or stand down, no one would need to die and soon enough a cease-fire or the actual peace treaty would be in effect. This way, soldiers still die, so why not fight for real, especially as the way the old generals want to do it, any negotations would be from a position of weakness.

But as instead of either simply ignoring orders or taking out the generals directly, he pushed for this infighting. The fighting will not only be in the capital, but in each and every unit, or different units against each other, unless the old generals are taken out fast. Which he could have done directly, before any additional loss of life.

This ompletely invalidates his position from a moral point of view. His "how to make history" statement doesn't exactly help trusting him, either.

I think it's exactly because he firmly believes 100% that his Perfevollen's can change the tide of war that he has such strong confidence to stand up and rebel against those other Generals. In his mind, the loss of any small number of soldiers to stage the coup d'etat is purely collateral damage because the ones fighting on the front lines will not be those soldiers, but the Perfevollen and Samonji. His point in staging the coup is probably just for show to tell all of Arandas what cowards the other generals are, and to use propaganda to turn as many soldiers to his side as possible (remember, he's no longer a part of the army, and can't really order soldiers who don't want to follow him around).
To him, any additional soldiers that he sways is just an added bonus to his ego and further confirmation to his ideals. They aren't considered actual additions to his army strength.

Of course, as with all grey-area villians with ideals, I have no doubts that he's about to be proven wrong in the next couple of episodes. Either Samonji gets captured or he gets killed and Cayenne will be stuck looking like an idiot.

Can't wait to see the look on his face when he realizes that putting all his eggs in one basket is not the smartest option.

Now I don't know which one I should side on....Cayenne might be evil, but I kinda agree with his opinion this time. Samonji got death flagged :( on the other hand, Izumi is officially on the opposite side of Samonji now. What will he do?

Welp, did Tokimune overexert himself again? He looks so awful than the rest of the team.

This episode was like finding a rock in a shit pile. Sure the rock is nothing special but you're so tired of the shit that you can't help but smile at the rock and give it a name or something.

Seriously, this episode was light years ahead of the bore-fests that we've had to watch for the last months, what an improvement. The plot is moving and it's actually somewhat interesting. For once, watching this series causes me to say "I want to know what will happen next episode" which is a far cry from last weeks episode. There's only like 4 episodes left right? Hopefully the next 4 keep it up I mean it only took em 21 episodes.

I loved the episode, fully thanks to Cayenne. His character's done a complete 180 in my eyes. Even if he's still a calculated, immoral ass, I feel like he HAS gotten the depth he needed to make his coup feel genuine to the audience(the viewer and of course the military). There will likely be some extended infighting leading to some expected collateral damage, but I think the overwhelming response will be in his favor and this will work out to be a huge morale move that proves vital in the war's outcome.

I don't doubt that this could all go horribly wrong for Cayenne , but I don't know that he had a better option than to put all his eggs in one basket. The generals were on the very brink of working out the peace negotiations they wanted(and were going to arrest him once they realized he stood so firmly in the opposition) ,so he had to act immediately. He couldn't afford to patiently observe and utilize both sides of things like he'd done in the earlier episodes.

You know why this episode was plot heavy and interesting? BUILD UP. The first 20 episodes didn't just jack around and wait to make things happen in episode 21, everything has gradually been building up to these developments. The problem seems to be in your expectations of an obviously slow paced war drama.

Episode not so bad, the final episode, has rekindled my hopes; the military heat engines.
Narrative has not changed much the setting.
Real worry designs, the rest is appreciable.
I hope an end with a bang! XD

So im guess samonji will be the final boss, i hope that fight happens cause arge vs the perfevollens sounds pretty sweet

depending on how these next 3 episodes go will dictate whether this show retains a 6/10 rating or ends up with a 5/10 or worse.

Well they are really building up the tension for the last battle.
So much for the talk about sacrifices, they choose to kill themselves off before war.
That pantsu falling out and superb catch was definitely on purpose, c'mon we all saw that coming.
It's useless to gloss it over with the serious chat about wiped out 5th unit LOL.
I would still prefer them not throwing in weird fan service.
There's 3 more episodes left for the finale.
