I know the idea of them training and academy life is meant to be serious but lol, the mood in this show changed so much. It's a lot of goofy moments at the academy with Shiki and his classmates. Speaking of Shiki, what an overreaction LOL

I think pacing will pick up more likely soon but this episode was a lot of comedy.

Weird and kinda boring filler-like episode. Didn't progress the plot, didn't develop the characters, wasn't even funny if I'm honest.

completely skippable episode, it's so unnecessary that it didn't even manage to be a bad episode, it was just a soulless episode

I don't expect a fanservice episode right after a bloodbath arc where dozen of people got killed. I'm glad the manservice is very significant, those guys in bath are so tempting...

And yes, we finally get a proper character introduction in episode 12, yes, episode 12, not episode 1 or 2 but 12! It's the result of how the author want to shake things up by throwing those kids into an actual deathly conflict even before they receive a course syllabus.

A SOL of episode? After all that brutality? I guess they decided to take a breather. The ghost was the principal cracked me up. LOL

A light break before the next story arc, Kuina, as always, claims to be the yandere of the season, although the choice between pudding and three times a day sex is a little unequal.

Credit where it's due, Kougasaki actually making the effort to speak up for once just for the last pudding and getting rewarded the remaining curry instead was pretty damn funny.

Hope we get more lore on the tiny tapir dudes soon.

This was the most chill episode we got so far, and I'm glad they decided to include this in the anime. After such an intense arc, and the fact we never got a proper introduction to the characters, I think this episode where we can just see the characters interacting with each other was really good, and the fact the anime didn't skip this chapter was a good choice.

It's once again hinted that every character has its own secret and dark backstory, although we only know about Shiki, Jin and Rokuro's backstories so far. I suppose with time they will introduce the other backstories, one at a time.

Ikari's character continues to surprise me, he's really not like I thought he would be like after his introduction (in a good way). On the other hand, the green haired guy just being a pervert and that's it is the most disappointing character so far.

I'm most curious to know Mudano's backstory, and the real purpose of that school. Such a big building for 7 students? It seems like not every Oni goes to that type of school either, so what's their objective with them?

It seems next episode we're starting the new arc, that will be set in Tokyo.
Overall, this episode was great to understand each character's personality better, and to see how they interact with each other.
I also didn't understand that the dorm arrangement from last episode was actually for the school, I thought it was for the upcoming "field trip", that will be set in Tokyo. It's kinda weird Mudano, the teacher, has to share a room with a student, but ok I guess.

Tougen Anki is the only anime I'm watching this season that will have a 2nd cour, so we're only halfway through! That's always great.
But it's sad that this episode was probably the last one with this set of opening and ending. What do you mean my weekly dose of "SO FAR FROM WHO I WAS" has come to an end? I seriously loved that opening so much, it's a shame they are changing it, let's see how the new one will compare to this one. And the same thing for the ending, "What is Justice" was a really fitting ending theme for the anime.

Well, there's more next week, and I'm curious to see how this next arc will go, since it seems manga readers like it a lot.

What was even the point of this episode lmao filler in a two cour series is insanity. Doesn’t even fit the tone they tried to establish last week, this is just the textbook definition of a generic shonen.

The lighthearted slice of life vibes from these last two episodes has honestly been way more entertaining than anything else in this show up to this point imo.

The plot and these characters should just continue down this path instead of trying to make an actual decent battle shounen with interesting stakes and drama.

Surprised that people are disliking this episode when the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbase yearned to have episodes like this.

For the complaints about "late character introductions", it's very common for shounen to re-explain stuff all the time for new readers. Boku no Hero Academia would re-explain each character's powers every volume pretty much, and that was very noticeable if you're binging the manga.

Honestly, Gege would do an amazing job of writing an episodic comedy/slice-of-life show. Just nothing where there's a cohesive plot that needs to be followed and wrapped up appropriately.

Okay finally watched it.

Somehow this was the best episode yet despite everyone calling it filler (is it actually non-canon filler or just a slice of life canon moment?) Still don't care for most of the students, but the especially annoying ones weren't quite as bad this episode.

And I've finally found a character I actually like alongside Mudano - the principal. Though I think the heavy lifting for that probably comes from Ogata (his VA). I love her voice so much.

lol how bad can the pacing be?
after going into an "out of nowhere final season arc" in ... episode 4 now we even get a filler at episode 12. Wait what?

Boring episode. They tried to be funny, but Tougen Anki sucks at being funny. I was way more interested in the few scenes we got with the adults.

A filler episode of all things for a rest, it's classes like the usual for Mudano and his class with the in-school camp alright, with the typical stuff to expect of such school camps.

This is all happening while the Kyoto Branch is rebuilding, as the guys and girls are split between food and sharing ghost stories, and the Principal just casually inserting himself as a ghost spirit to scare them off.

For the 1st Cour, it's only a taste of things to come for the 2nd Cour, with the next field exercise at Tokyo with the Nerima arc residing for it which amps the stakes further.

Nnnggg. Suddenly character hobbies and personalities is told by narrator in this episode..
Everything is normal... But that megane pervert guy... sure he is a pervert... But he isn't that bad.... he never tries to grope those girls nor hugging them...
The Oni headmaster... his voice is.... so soft.... wonder if he's actually ikemen....

I don't understand why the green haired guy didn't pair up with Shiki. They seem to get along lol

Literally hate this anime so much with the "offing him" just say kill him pussy ass anime.

This was a filler episode, but if you increased the time, it was much more enjoyable. Kinda funny that the principle scared the fuck out of everyone. I like her little squishy animals, they're so cute!!!!
