feeling sorry for you getting spoiled. There are some entitled losers lurking here and there who's logic is "these are races from decades ago, results are out in the net". Lil bitch you learnt the basics about horseracing the other day, and specifically JRA, for obvious reasons, don't even pretend to act smart.

Anyway, enjoy a pic of Oguri with his friend...

Well that was disappointing. Didn't like it at all. It's like the show has morphed into a joke of itself. First half of the episode was entirely exposition. Like who cares... I just wanted it to focus on Oguri. Which it is clearly is barely interested in anymore. It's just a generic shonen dressed up as horse racing.
I don't think you understood what you were watching.
What first half exposition?
We got less than 5 minutes of exposition with Obey in America, her coming up with her strategy, her change in demeanor and putting on a mask.
All preparations for JC.
Before the scene switched back to the current race, Obey throwing away the facade and closing in on Tama not to mention refusing to run directly next to Tama by taking a huge risk and overtaking her.
She carefully planned everything and barely won.

While Oguri is the main character of this Anime, there's a reason why it is called Uma Musume Cinderella Gray and not Uma Musume Oguri Cap.
There's quite a fair amount of symbolism with Cinderella and the glass slipper.
Since it is based off real events and races it obviously won't let Oguri win every race she's in and often times switch the spotlight to other Umas.
Saying that it barely is interested in focusing on Oguri is a bold and incorrect statement, you saw her put Michelle in her place.
To the point where Michelle refuses to return to Japan in order to avoid running against Oguri again.
Furthermore Oguri came in third against what could be described as Super Saiyans.
So there was interest and focus on Oguri and there will be more in the future.
I would go out and argue that the best moments and arcs are always after Oguri loses a race or is hit with a setback like an injury.
Watching her get supported by her trainer, friends and rivals and her winning again is way more exciting and satisfying than watching her breeze through every race.
And I like Oguri the most out of everyone but I want to see her struggle, I want to see her be faced with new obstacles and rise to the challenge.

Anyways to add my own thoughts to the episode itself.
I loved it, I've read the Manga and this race was such a highlight for me and Cygames did not disappoint.
While I didn't expect the english from Obey since she is fluent in japanese in hindsight it does make sense, she is american.
This race was pure hype and adrenaline and I sincecerly hope all of Cinderella Gray gets adapted into Anime.
Because if you're blown away by this Japan Cup then just wait until the next.

Tony Bin irl actually stayed back in Japan for breeding purposes, so its amusing how the anime dealt with that.

And, a lot of her descendants are the ones we are familiar with, and also the successful ones.

@AkeZZZ 16 umas damn, toni's crazy.

So Obey Your Master can just change her Iris shape on a whim, those crazy yanks. I understand that Toni taking a sabbatical in Japan is a reference to the real horse becoming a stud for breeding but was Lunacy visiting her a reference to anything? Or did they just want to give her a scene before the episode ended?
@deltahalo241 I think they were just trying to give Lunacy a scene + toni's clearly her idol lol. They're also both repping europe if that counts.

@Ranchpig So everything needs to focus on MC? Like go watch Solo Leveling where they just focus on mc and don’t care about side characters.

If it was focused on oguri cap and no exposition towards obey (Just 3-5 minutes btw not even an entire episode) wouldn’t people be confused and upset why she won?

The anime did obey well, now everyone is fine when obey won, probably just u who is upset.

I'm a little sad that Oguri fell short, but at least it's motivation to improve, and that's always good.

Overall, I liked it; you could feel the excitement of the race. I totally didn't expect that move from Obey—10/10 for that part.

And now, the Arima Kinen is coming up... uff

That final 400 m stretch was intense! So intense that I found myself panting when the race was over lmao

Turns out Obey Your Master was wearing a thick mask all this time! Now it makes sense why they chose Ishigami Shizuka to voice her.

Oguri Cap has lost major races so far despite being the main character. Since this is base on real life events, I guess the anime protagonist charm has no effect here.

We got the subtle hints on Obey Your Master pulling off something incredible but it really did feel like Tamamo Cross would somehow edge ahead with the way the show kept us on the edge. Insane fight back from Oguri-chan though, she ought to be proud of upstaging Michelle My Baby in particular like that! Toni Bianca's comment, as highlighted by @AkeZZZ, gave me a raised eyebrow and I knew Japan was bigger than Italy, lmao - my basis was actually that there's no way Italy would be bigger than Germany. Must've been speaking from the "Queen of Europe" perspective, I'm guessing. Coming 5th despite an injury is quite something too, and loved the little banter with Moonlight Lunacy.

New Zealand's dream to win Japan Open though, that's an interesting one. Arima Kinen up for grabs next? Not bad. Didn't get much of Oguri-chan after the race though, looking forward to that first.

History cannot be changed, but still I fkng hate Obey, characters like her are the worst, and her design sucks too.
But whatever.
Arima Kinen here we go!
PD: if anyone sees this and is trying to catch up reading the manga, stop right now, you don't want to be spoiled of the next race lol

Oguri "Pace-Chasing" Cap: "I'm missing something"

Girl, you tried pace-chasing and got into a fighting match in the middle of the race, neither of which you trained for.

@Laplace_kun Yeah it’s a shame but it didn’t hurt the show for me really, what done it tho was someone putting a spoiler warning but not the spoiler in the spoiler button, so I let my guard down lol. Won’t happen again for sure. And that’s a cute pic.

BTW...

So... if Obey is one of the strongest in Japan's race

But she loses every G1 back on the West...

Doesn't that mean the West Umas are pretty much all stronger than any of the Japan Umas?

This also suggests that if the Japan Umas were to go race in the West... they would all pretty much lose most times.

(even the lady UMA with a broken feet won against pretty much 95% of the Japan UMAs, she only lost to Tamamo and Oguri, the other ones in front of her 5th place are the west Umas)

The fact that Oguri ended up third, not that far behind Tamamo and Obey who were both max focus in the zone while not being in the zone herself and running with a new strategy to her, basically catching up at the last second just shows how much of a monster she really is

I can't wait when she finally reaches it, as Dicta Striker said, she is almost there

Great race other than Toni Bianca breaking her leg mid-race. She was about to unlock her aura alongside Tamamo Cross and Obey Your Master, and heck might've actually gapped both of them. Actually no, she definitely would have, because she got 5th place with a broken leg. And yet the one Obey Your Master has been analyzing all this time was Tamamo Cross. Did her research go so deep as to predict that Toni Bianca would've gotten injured, so she dismissed her entirely?? Anyway, Obey Your Master deserves the win for all the work she put in off the track, but would've love to see everyone dusted by Toni Bianca. But ig the horse got injured in the Japan Cup irl back then so they gotta stick with the historical facts, gotta respect it.

Oh yeah and Oguri Cap is in this too. Although even still this race ended up as another loss on her record (loss = not getting first place ig), you can't forget that she was being roughed up at the start of the race and losing a lot of stamina. And yet she still pushed herself all the way up to 3rd right behind two aura-maxxers having a shounen battle. Not bad. And it's okay, because this loss will make next and probably last big race before her story ends, the Arima Kinen iirc, all the more impactful where she most likely will win. Or not, sometimes not everything goes as you might expect in Uma Musume. Which I like. The only definite thing you can predict in Cinderella Gray is that Oguri Cap, or at least someone, in each race is going to move to the outside and pass everyone with raw power XD

Welp that was a quick catch up on Cinderella Gray part 2, I need some more. Maybe it's time to pick up Season 3 again and give it another chance.

Nah, I don't know if I should excited or sad. After all it's turning into another kuroko no basket shit. Zones turning into some kind of supernatural bullshit.
