I know it was likely to happen, despite what most people would've thought, but season 2 being a rushed mess and having only 13 episodes made most people think s3 would be the same.

I guess they really want the current manga shokugeki to get a season of its own.

Lol... And here I thought S3 will be 12 EPs just like S2.

Ohh well, probably it will cover most of the manga...

Wait... S2 hasn't covered Staigre(whatever the spelling is) arc right?

They did animate the stagaire arc, it was like 2 or 3 episodes only though. It was the last arc animated for season 2

Eh, is that Chinese website a reliable source? How do they even know it's 24 episodes? I would love if it's actually 2-cour though.

When a streaming company licenses a show, they get to know how many episodes the series will get. It's a full disclosure for them since they're grabbing the license. Hell, even CR already knows how many episodes this series will get before it even started airing.

Ah didn't know it was a streaming service like Crunchyroll, I should've paid more attention to the website. Thanks for the answer, it's great to hear it's 24 episodes.

I'm so freaking happy! I was already quite surprised when S3 got announced, and now it's getting a 2 cours third season, this would actually put it relatively close to the manga, I will lose it if ends up becoming a full adaptation.

Well, if it's going to be a 2-cour, then this season will probably end in chapter 171. At least I hope it will, to me that is the best moment to end the season.

The worst news I got today. So that means Erina would be voiced by the replacement for half a year?
Damn, I wished Risa Taneda will get back on the second cour or better be back as early as possible. (mid 1st cour)

at least it gives more time for Risa to fit until 100%. but i hope Hisako-san can nail the "Erina" voice more. so far she did good job but not perfect enough.
however, Erina' char is softer due to what's happen next to her in few weeks time, and Hisako's voice is softer than Risa. so let's sit back and enjoy

Yep, I am really impressed with her voice acting. She's 90% sounding like Risa's Erina. But I still am a bit disappointed but oh well.

It depends on manga sales not anime sales if an anime gets a new season. Animes are only promo to increase the manga sales.
The studios don't invest any money for the anime, so the anime volume sales don't really matter. In fact the studios get a budget from the animes committee. So basically J.C. staff is doing S3 because most likely Shueisha, the publisher of Weekly Shounen Jump, requested it.

So basically as long as the manga sales (or other kind of sales) stay high, they will request a new season.

The studios themselves are the ones making profit from the volume sales, but then again they barely invest any money in the anime, so it doesn't matter that the anime volume sales are low.

This is great news, it can very easily cover the whole Moon Banquet Festival Arc (18 chapters, 5 already adapted) and the Central Arc (37 chapters) very well, without the need to cut material and it being rushed like S2!

Interesting news indeed

Since its only covering the Moon festival arc and the Central arc which has a combined chapter count of 55 in total that should be enough material if they cover it faithfully.

But i guess we just have to see where it goes

The people who "leaked" the episode count in question are rarely ever wrong, its a pretty safe bet that shokugeki is 2 cour.

Tbh, idk as I don't have the amount of manga sales for the last few years prior to the cancellation of the anime. All I know is that the manga sales were declining which is probably why they stopped producing the anime. Or they initially planned to make it seasonal like Gintama at first, but then the sales dropped so much that they decided it wasn't worth to continue the anime at all.

This is just speculation as I don't have any numbers. However if an anime gets a new season mainly depends on how the manga sells. That's why you barely see continuation of animes years after their manga ended. Usually they end the anime a few months after to boost the sales of the last manga volumes. Naruto was probably one of the only exceptions, but that's probably because they could boost other sales by continuing the anime. If an anime is popular enough as in Naruto's case, it will boost for example merchandise sales as well.

Other anime that weren't as big such as Bakuman, Kuroko no Basuke and Assassination Classroom all ended shortly after the manga ended.

The reason why anime sales don't matter is because the studios get a budget from a production committee. Shueisha, the publisher of Shounen Jump, is usually part of the committee. They invest money into the anime and get it back through the boosted manga sales. The anime studio usually doesn't invest any money in the anime which is why anime sales don't matter that much. Unless the anime studio itself is part of the committee, but usually this is only the case with some bigger studios, for example A1's mother company Aniplex and Sunrise (idk about any other studios being part of anime committees).

Shueisha will request a new season from the anime studio as long as the manga sells and they get the money they invested back. Sometimes it might also fail because other companies, such as music companies, don't want to invest in a certain anime anymore because it's not worth it for them. So this would increase the amount of money Shueisha would need to invest to keep the anime going. This means losses for them in the most cases, which is why this could lead to no new season being produced.

So it all depends on the anime committee in the end, not the studio.

Yeah, the AFAIK they were the same site who said Youjo Senki would be 2 cour. I'd rather doubt something than be let down after expecting something more. I'm not going to trust this info just yet, hope it is true though. As for the 2nd season of Osomatsu-san's episode count. It was listed for 13 episodes (BD) at the time of my original post and they later changed it to 25 (just recently)
