Looks like Oonishi did still cared for his wife. Are the people from the Hill the ones from the surface as well? Ahh more questions...

Things are really getting interesting down there, but it feels bad that each episode is ending with cliffhangers. Anyway, Oonishi got betrayed... I guess it's normal for such a corporation. But he sure turns out to be cool character.

I don't really understand what they mean by spectacle, a war of some sorts?
Also Kazuho is probably one of the creepiest "bad guys" ever, the way he evolved from such a nice guy to a cold blooded killer in a few episodes is really cool. I love how he controlled everything from the backstage.

Are the people on the hill people from the surface?
I knew there was something strange about Yoshii. What does he want with Ran? Does he want her to tell him his future now?

No, the people on the hill live in their own little secluded city but they're still a part of Lux.

I'm starting to really like this anime more and more as the episodes progress.

Kazuho is a very neat villain. I find the everyday looking guy that doesn't appear to be evil at first glance is appealing. Combined with that aspect and his philosophical thought process... HOO BOY. That's right up my ally. It reminds me of Adachi from Persona 4. Though, Kazuho is very calm in every situation so far, so he beat him on that aspect. I'm wondering if he will snap by the time he possibly gets killed, or what have you.

Funny how the roles reversed in a few episodes. Onishi is being potrayed as a decent guy and Kazuho is turning out to be a sadistic antagonist (not surprised since I had my doubts since episode 2).
Kazuho talked about a 'mission'. So is he working for some organisation as well? O_o
Well, since have no idea how Ren fits into all this. :3

Indeed, the sympathetic portrayal of Onishi: the man indirectly responsible for the chopping off of Ichise's limbs; the psychopathic highlight of Yoshii eventually, despite having a neutral sort of outlook in the beginning. Yoshii's made tendencies will kick him out soon, I believe. Considering the fact that he isn't considered a main character by MAL despite being the major character for the first nine episodes so far.

Another unique notion to Texhnolyze thus far is how natural the shift between the main characters happen in it, which is a seldom sight in anime and increasingly rarer these days. Ichise is no doubt the 'main' character, though it is apparent that the focus is now on Onishi, without feeling any bit of abruptness; something I would seriously give props to this anime for.

I guess the slow pace is the greatest strength of this anime - with it, the flow of the plot, dialogue and scenarios just seem way to natural. Yet, it is a double-edged sword - people who cannot tolerate the pace will never find Texhnolyze to be interesting. Optimistically, the sedative-esque pace provides an avenue towards amplified emphasis on animated imagery and miscellaneous technique such as colours and mood; Texhnolyze may be one of the most drawn-out anime of all time by giving thanks to this 'abominably' slow pace. Indeed, marathon-ing this really tests one''s patience - it is practically impossible.

5/5 for the drama used in this episode, unique for a change. Although, I would really question on the direction this anime is heading towards, as Yoshii is now a VERY LIKELY candidate to become a one-dimensional (not even two) psychopathic antagonist. Well, he will die, gut instincts tell me such.

I think he was just another guy in the Organo who told him to warn Onishi?? (Was just as confused first time I saw that scene as well).

Also didn't understand what was supposed to have happened at the dig site - thought the mad new guy running the Organo was the vandal but I guess they were cleaning up the "vandalism" when they went in shooting people (since there was that vague phonecall about it and the obelisk beforehand, which gave them the justification to push out Onishi)? No idea it's hard to tell just from a character's glances what's supposed to be going on... what was the vandalism anyway?

And why did that friend of Kazuho drop a bag down a grating?

Man this show is hard enough to get through in one sitting without having to rewatch bits you didn't get the first time...

I can't take it anymore. For now, I'm dropping the anime. Maybe a few years later, once I've become more open-minded, I'll actually enjoy it.
I never thought I'd be begging for an anime to NOT have a plot. The presentations' amazing, it itself can tell a story. But now the anime is focusing on the actual story, that it's freaking boring.
Texhnolyze should've been a silent film. It being a tv series that focuses on the story makes it drag on way more.

That he thinks everything has a meaning, while the story is based on everything being pointless.
And still, Bill will live on.
He will befriend the next inhabitants of the earth, beings of light who revere him as a god.
And Bill will outlive them all... for millions and millions of years...exploring, learning, living,
until the earth is swallowed beneath his feet.
Until the sun is long since gone.
Until time loses all meaning and the moment comes that he knows only the positions of the stars
and sees them whether his eyes are closed or open.
Until he forgets his name and the place where he'd once come from.
He lives and he lives until all of the lights go out.

Interesting seeing Onishii seem to torn up about his wife's death when he was cheating on her with his secretary..
I'm also not sure who that guy was who was rubbing the motorcycle boy's inner thigh. I saw the series several years ago, but don't remember if it was ever made clear.

Not really a spoiler, more just commentary on pacing of the show, but put behind a spoiler in case you realllly don't want any hints about anything, even the pacing :

I wonder what they meant by 'spectacle.' Also it's interesting how in the first episodes Yoshii was the good guy while Onishi was the antagonist but the roles have reversed in here... The most interesting episode so far. Also I don't get why Yoshii needed to get involved with the fight between the Oragano and the Salvation Union but oh well. I do get the Racans tho. Hope that the next eps gonna answer my questions

orange guy was looking like a psycho from the very beginning.

Me at the beginning: haha funny moustache man, seems like a nice fellow. In all honesty his manner of speaking makes him even creepier. Too bad his seiyuu doesn't seem to have any other anime roles.

Kohakura seems to be always talking offscreen huh (and is in a relationship with the other guy). Telepathy? xD

Hah, I knew something was up with Yoshi. His contrast from the characters of Lux is so great it's no wonder he stands out so much (besides his orange attire ofc). Since the city and its people are overcome with nihilism, we can interpret him as the ubermensch serving as a catalyst in this situation. I think his spectacle is his goal to change or evolve the dead city into, something...I don't know what to call it though. I wonder where he's from?

I like how Oonishi is able to somehow detect that someone was sniping them

I also like this anime is taking its sweet f*cking time telling its story. You're either on board or you're not, this anime doesn't care about how you feel; it's going to tell its story at the pace in which it sees fit. I'll be watching other 'elitist' titles like Serial Experiments Lain and Ergo Proxy after this. Are all older anime this slow? And if they are, it's of no matter as long as it is able to stay continuously intriguing as is this one.

It's also a welcome sound to hear words coming from Ichise's mouth rather than just coarse breathing lol

We see that Onishi shows that he's still human, maybe the most humane character character down there actually!

Shinji is simply dumb, what does he expect to happen even if he does manage to off Onishi? His sorry gang isn't even considered equal to the other two in the city and Onishi spared his life.

Yoshii is an obvious psychopath at this point, but it was still interesting to learn that he was originally working under some orders, and it's just now that he's going rogue.

Pretty interesting but the plot is still kinda weak Imo. So far it’s just rival gangs being manipulated into fighting each other and some technology that happens to exist in the universe. Story isn’t ‘tight’ enough
