Episode that concludes the story, or let's call misadventures of Genshiken.
Also an opportunity for the real birth of Genshiken, because in this context is forged the term that we know.
Narration interesting and varied, which leads to further maturation characters, I liked it.
Drawings that reach a level never seen before, now that you are more than good quality like, I like.
Sasahara finally manages to emerge from the narrative.
My vote is 8/10!

My only disappointment with this show was the limited amount of references. The first episode was full of little bits, and throughout the show there were things like Lupin and Card Captor Sakura, but I suppose I just wanted more variety, rather than going back to Unbalance and Guilty Gear all the time. Besides that, everything else I liked. I expected this to be some crazy over-the-top otaku fest featuring a bunch of tasteless jokes. Instead, it was extremely down-to-earth with the otaku jokes being downplayed. Instead of the jokes focusing on the otaku lifestyle, it instead became about these specific characters acting and reacting to everything around them. The show was funny not because of what was being said or done, but it was because of the characters themselves going through the motions.

And yeah, Madarame and Saki were the best.

This time I did feel bad for Saki. I'm just surprised she got that emotional about it.

This gets a rare 10/10 for me. Rarely do I like comedies and even rarer do that make me laugh so much.

very touching finale.
The ED with Ogiue was perfection. Teasing the new character for the OAV. Everyone bringing their head up to look at her at the very end made me laugh pretty hard... not sure why but I just wasn't expecting it.

Waaahhhh, i didnt expect a Tsun showed dere side!!! Noooo~~~, dont cry Saki-chan! She was cute when she cried though :'(

I have delusion that Kousaka got NTRed and Saki goes to Madarame. I had weird feeling after watching this series.

Can someone tell me what was up with the last few seconds? They subbed version doesn't translate what is being said and the dubbed version has no sound at all. The club is sitting there staring at someone with a ponytail sticking up on the top of their head and with a long mustache sticking out from both sides of their head (though we only see a back view). Who is this person and what was being said??????

I liked it but for the most part only because of Saki. Her reactions and attitude for things had me laughing most of the time. All of the other characters weren't as entertaining, especially Kousaka, geez was he bland. Saki's MVP though!

hilarious show and really fulfills enjoyment. But its too bad Madarame stepped down as chairman of the club, he kinda for me made the show to be worth watching. If he is not in the next sequel forget about me watching this one, Sasahara as chairman seems boring. If it wasn't for Madarame I would've have given this one a 5.

Anyway its a 7/10 I will check out the next one.

So Saki is a selfish obnoxious cunt who almost destroys the club and tries to actively ruin everyone's fun at every opportunity yet she is a well liked member of the group? There's a huge disconnect here that for the life of me I cannot understand. And it's not like there is any 'comedy' to be found in her antics, she's just a fucking bitch. Also I found the way they stuck Saki and Kousaka's relationship into the faces of the other members to be incredibly unpleasant.

I feel like this was a botched attempt at telling a story about a group of otaku through the eyes of a 'normal' person. I liked the actual club members, when they had screentime...

I don't understand what this series even is - on the outside it seems like a "club slice of life" but it is just really focused on Saki trashing everything around her all the time. I almost wonder if the author just really likes girls like that and that's what this is about.

Wow didn't except Saki to cry. But I've surely enjoyed this serie, although I didn't get many references from other shows it was still fun to follow the adventures of an otaku group. I would have preferred if it was less focused on Saki and more on the other members, hopefully that's the case in season 2.

What a lovely way to wrap up this season, a lot changed, but at the same time, they all gather in that same room and do the same stuff as always. Like there was development, but not too drastic that the club really broke apart, which would’ve been a rather sad way to end it. Hope we still see plenty of Madarame even if he’s not chairman anymore. I also like how Saki is still there lmao

I quite enjoyed that, the dynamics between the group, especially with the non otaku GF, were very entertaining. I'm not into a lot of the things that the Genshiken group does, but some of their interests and jokes were pretty relatable and therefore hilarious. 8/10.

This anime surprised me I thought it was going to be a normal otaku comedy but I felt super identified with the characters and I had a lot of fun with the group dynamics I'm definitely going to watch the 2nd season and the manga

I was craving for some degeneracy in all honesty and I got just the right show, it seems, lmao.

It was nice to see the group look back on the past year, a lot of things sure have changed. Student Council Vice Pres saying Kusakabe fits into the group and her not rejecting for once was so heartwarming. Madarame-san stepping down was a surprise, he really gave off leader vibes in the group. Sasahara-kun with that motive of his might just be what the club needs to stay afloat. Genshiken in Hiragana, that's a great way to end the season!

Oono-san x Tanaka-san, that needs to be a thing!

Got to say, I'm so glad the newcomers from one of the earlier episodes didn't end up joining, they didn't seem to fit at all, imho. I wonder just exactly who the previous-to-previous President was, feels like he's always running the show somehow. Not to mention, his crucial save as well. I wish Kusakabe-san would let us know too.

New character in the ED visuals, that's sneaky. Guess I'll have to move on to the OVAs now, 15 episode series broken into 12 + 3? Looks like there are some people that seem to believe that so that's good to hear. Prefer a sequel than a spin-off although to be fair, either would work for this show. Strong 7/10.

NOOO SAKI-SAN DON'T CRY :'( Heartbreaking scene, amazing VA work, a little drama to wrap up the series was needed to make it memorial. Saki is such a crucial character for the series to showcase her outsider point-of-view of otaku culture. She abseloutely deserves to get kicked out of the club and I fucking love her, Kousaka you lucky bastard.

I think this is the best anime that truly represents otaku-culture in the 2000s, just on pair with Lucky Star.

It really didn't end up going too deep into references did it? I started the show expecting something akin to Lucky Star when it comes to that deparment

I really liked this, I think I'll definetly look up the sequel in the near future (the OVA's cover has someone with an oddly resemblence to the character introduced in the post-credits still)

Not really much to comment after that. It never occured to me that in-universe Genshiken wasn't written in hiragana.

I really love when the show gets so grounded in reality, saki's reaction to the whole fire situation felt so realisitic and well handled. Really great feeling to the other half too, glad Madarame is seemingly sticking around in the next season even with him stepping down. Season 2 and the OVA's are gonna be great :3

Simple and funny anime. It has a strange type of ecchi, greatly associated with the japanese otaku community. The characters are fun and the friendship between all of them is what engages the show, at least for me.

An interesting watch. I definitely liked the overall relaxed vibe of the show and the theme about accepting yourself. Each episode was either devoted to the group progressing or an aspect of otaku culture like gunpla. The references were neat, the in-world anime looked way more interesting and fun, and the sound effects at the end were a nice touch.

The characters are the weakness here though. Sasahara appears to be the audience's window into their lifestyle (their everyman), but he really just takes a backseat after the first few episodes. They didn't go much deeper with him at all once he overcame his fears, which is especially strange after his gyaru sister is introduced. Kugahara didn't really do anything. The club president was a mysterious force that I personally think is an actual alien. I'm really glad the two newbies didn't join the club because they were waaaayyyy too cringe; what with that try-hard playboy and the boundary-less public nuisance.

Tanaka and Oona are a larger part of the show. It seems like they could become a couple, and that would be fun to see. It was a shame we didn't get to see Oona's swimsuit. She's so freaking hot. Probably the second best character in my opinion. The best would have to be Madarame. He went from a 2D-only Otaku to actually crushing on Saki pretty hard. Always entertaining to watch and really providing most of the laughs. It's a shame he decided to step down. I get the feeling he could accomplish a lot if he applied himself instead of always backing down and going with the flow.

I didn't like Saki or Kousaka at all. They seemed okay at first, but they really wore on me as time went on. Why is Kousaka even going out with Saki if he outright refuses to make time for her. Dude's even passing up on sex for reruns, watching anime during sex, and hanging wall scrolls on the ceiling so he can look at anything but Saki during their extracurricular activities. It's just beyond weird. I assumed they would eventually break up over that conflict and that he might pursue Oona or something instead, but that never happened. He doesn't seem to care much about anyone aside from himself. He seems the least like an actual friend in the core group.

Saki is even worse. She's hot and funny at times, but more than anything she's a royal bitch. 90% of her screentime she's assaulting people, calling them terrible names, putting down their hobbies, wishing for the club to disband, breaking their stuff, ruining their fun, refusing to apologize or take any accountability, and breaking promises. It was nice to see her stick up for her friends a few times, until I realized that she only did so to get revenge on people she personally disliked. She broke Oona's gunpla and then refused to wear cat ears. Oona had been nothing but nice and welcoming, even after Saki got them kicked out of the club room. She watched Oona painstakingly make that model for an entire week, and just had to mess with it.

Saki's just a massive cunt. It's weird that they make out in front of the other members, and it was honestly sexual harassment when she was egging on Sasahara's and Madarame's fantasies about Oona's body in frontof her. There is a line to teasing, and she clearly went too far, making everyone uncomfortable. The manga club editor and student council vice president were made to be hated, but they're downright angels in comparison. I don't understand why I'm supposed to feel bad for Saki when she was crying, or why I'm supposed to let her off the hook for starting the fire. Bitch was standing there for two minutes contemplating burning everything anyway.

5/10. Honestly pretty boring. I'm interested to see where things go from here.
