Well that was visually quite pretty, but maybe a bit too simplistic of a story. Good themes but can only do so much with this limited runtime. Might've been more effective if it was a bit longer

But hey I can't say I ever expected to see the day Gigguk got an anime so that's cool in and of itself if nothing else

That was an enjoyable 18 minute watch.

The little plot twist was nice.
Art style and animations were well done.
Sir Kevin i bow to you again for that beautiful OST. I was vibing to it the entire time.

Good job to Garnt. 2 years of work is not easy to execute but you pulled it off kudos.

This was pretty average for what I was expecting. Sure, the animation process is expensive and there were quite a few famous creators involved but aside from the soundtrack I felt like it didn't reach what I was hoping for. It's not bad but certainly doesn't have enough to be good in my eyes. There's certainly a narrative, cultural references and some characters to save from it but in terms of entertainment for 22 minutes I ended up watching a football match I had on the side from time to time.

I dunno, 5/10 I guess. Maybe I'll rewatch it later.

Musicwise, it was great. The vibe it gave was 'dreamlike' and 'spiritual.' The animation was average, though I thought the dragon looked really cool. The story seemed to be about the girl going back home to her parents and the guy doing whatever he was doing (honestly I didn't get it...). I thought it seemed to be about first generation immigrants going back to their home countries to visit their parents. That would seem to make sense given Gigguk is a first generation immigrant (... I think so? It's been a while since I watched his videos). I thought the main girl was really cute, especially with those expressive wings. She can't tell a lie without her wings giving her up, and that's adorable. I give the anime 7 points out of 10. Yay Gigguk!

The amount of storytelling in just 18 minutes is impressive. Was it perfect? No, mainly because the story didn't have enough time to be fleshed out. But the fact that it still managed to deliver such a meaningful message and theme within that short timeframe is very commendable. More importantly, it’s a story many people will relate to, and at the end of the day, that’s one of the most powerful things an anime can achieve.

The soundtrack and visuals were beautiful, as expected. I hope Garnt does more projects like this in the future.

Really good stuff. Got me a bit teary in some parts. My only complain is some scenes needed to breathe a bit more, but that's completely understandable since this was a self funded project. But it's good to emphasize I still think the themes were delivered so well.

Those are the types of stories I'm missing in anime industry nowadays. Personal stories that are told in a way that trust the audience to get the little details and feels organic. Look Back was something that impacted me because of that, and while this ain't the same level, it is still 18mins of really high quality. Solid 8/10

@Natsude_tanaka I mean there's Audio Track on Youtube. You just need to set it in Japanese to get Japanese Audio.

Also, I just hated the dude who just ditched her own Mother and didn't even visit her even after how many years. MMaybe due to time constraints.)

He did it man 👏 so proud of our guy. The things that stand out most for me are obviously the music (Kevin the 🐐) aswell as the dub, syndey did a really great job considering it was her first main character voice acting role and I imagine it was because of Connors expert direction 🤣. At the beginning I was kind of lost but it all came together at the end, the subtle world building was very well done and the animation was solid. Overall it was my first time watching a anime short film and I'll give this a 8/10. Great job Garnt, Kevin, connor and everyone who worked on it 👏👏🙏. Hopefully someone funds a whole season 😢.

Cinema. I got invested but it was over too soon 😭It was so great while it lasted. Loved the simple message of the show. The voice acting was on point, visually it was very pretty, surprisingly clean animation, cute expressions on characters and PEAK music! I'm just very proud. Just wish we could have gotten more of it. I enjoyed every minute of Bâan. Thanks Garnt!

I really enjoy it, however, I did find it too short to the point where it made the story feel too simplistic.

Kevin the goat did a wonderful soundtrack and this other world was so cool and well though out for a short anime. I would love to see this property expand and learn more about the world.

The plot twist of Daichi and Rin traveled in different times was cool, what is Daichi to Rin though? They friends or dating? Kinda hard to tell.

8/10. I loved the message of home and this world was so immersive for how little we saw of it, and with so much love being poured into this it’s hard to rate any lower, as most anime we get these days are jury pump and dumps.

The only issue I had was the short run time.

EDIT: On rewatch, Daichi is Rin’s father… got it my bad, but why does it have “Rin’s Father” in the credit, but have a different VA? I’m so confused…

EDIT2: Ooooooohhh Daichi adopts Rin after her parents died… I’m dumb

The only problem I have with it is that there are not enough reasons for Rin to come back. We don't see her being unhappy that much with the human world. I wish there was a scene where she flies, but gets fined by a police officer. But overall, 8/10
Imagine normies saying: "Peaky Blinders is mid and overhyped. Just another typical crime drama show. Breaking Bad is much better.". Or: "Without action choreography no one would've cared about John Wick. Kingsman, on the other hand, is not like other action franchises!".

Oooooohhhh, I didn’t get that the people who died with the dragon thing were her parents, I’m dumb dumb.

By time lines I mean like they both traveled at different times not at the same time. My English isn’t the best I’ll rephrase

Way too short. Could have been great seeing both of them go though the struggles of adapting to an unknown land, but the runtime was way too short for that.
This deserves a real movie, not a measly 18 minutes ONA.

Gigguk said this anime was originally going to be 40-50 minutes long, but needed to cut it down because of the budget.

Despite all that, he did a fantastic job to convey the message of this anime, and the production was incredible. Really touching in terms of the theme that this story is tackling and I can't be more happy to see my man able to execute this perfectly!

Hope this is a start of something for Gigguk

Ost wise, it was awesome, literally.
Garnt did say the whole world building was around 45-50 mins long, but it needed to be cut down, and i respect it.

Despite, the budget issues, he did a wonderful job sending out the message, the Voice-acting was near perfect, I loved it.

Okay. Here's my 2 cents.

Visually, Bâan is amazing; it definitely feels like a high-quality anime. Narratively, it does feel like I need to watch this multiple times to get into the world. I had to watch this 2 times to understand the story. There are some story details that I wish could be fleshed out, like the world of Euthania. I love the Southeast Asian aesthetics of the world of Euthania, though I feel like it needed fleshing out over what was happening.

The characters were good, though, especially Rin. After rewatching the 2nd time, her character feels like someone you would want to help and connect with. As for Daichi, I think he needs more narrative room to know what his mindset was when he left our world for Euthania. Some questions need answering that I hope will be answered in the future. I can definitely tell this short was meant to be a longer film, but I totally understand the budget constraints, as it was self-funded by the Anime Zone himself. Hoping this gets more traction and the world of Bâan could expand in the future.

Overall, Bâan feels like a Proof-of-Concept that could potentially become something more, hopefully as a TV series or as a feature-length film. As a short, this was a very well-made effort. As an anime, this was solid. This is an amazing work by Garnt. I hope this won't be the last time he'll be doing something for Bâan.

I give this an 8/10.

Really felt like a letter to anyone that has experienced going off to live by yourself and having rough days while missing home. There's obviously a lot more to explore in this world of euthania and genuinely quite beautiful. There wasn't a lot of dialogue to be honest. I think the main focus of the short was really just to feel the vibe of the setting and tell a story of adapting to a new life while also being homesick.

I... dont love it, but i do respect it i would say. I am already someone who overall prefers long stories, so this being so short didnt really help it terms of being able to make me really care for said story especially considering that it feels like a longer story made into a short... But... i think its pretty clear that it does have heart. And there are some clear ideas in here, so i dont really dislike it either. For me its like a 6/10. Not my favorite story, not my favorite short story either, but im actually quite content to see it being a thing garnt was able to make. Hope to see more from him, i think he has ways to make genuinely good stuff in the future.

i can see this going either to be hit or miss for people, i actually got emotional where she said that she thought she was a burden because i did feel like that at one point in my life myself and i also lived abroad so i know how traveling to foreign place might feel.

Idk i was ready to support Garnt and thought it might actually be an okay short movie but i didnt expect to actually get emotional at all.

EDIT: my biggest complaint is the text in japanese not being translated at all.

For what it is, it is really quite solid. Looks visually amazing, but does seem to lack a lot in the story department. There are really a lot of unanswered questions, and it left me quite confused. This really could have done with being a full length series I think, but understandable why it isn't, and this is an excellent milestone for Garnt. 7/10 from me.

I loved it, it didn't drag or anything, the story it told was relatable to any adult getting out in the world even if the setting was fantasy. The music was absolutely peak. Not sure why anyone wouldn't at least rate it "good" or higher personally. They did a great job for a small time development.

After watching again in sub, I understood Dai was the same guy. I don't get how he aged so much in that time.

Maybe Rin species age differently? Instead of the expected ~10/15yrs I thought (she looks 15-20 when she travels), 30-40yrs actually passed?

Anyway, great short. I can see all the effort put into it.

I was a little lost at first, but it all clicked after I rewatched it again.
The storytelling and world-building were well executed; however, it could be confusing.
The show's message is simple: having a place to call home to go back to.
The characters are pretty, but their lack of development is fine for a short film.

Animation was quite well made, the music - I feel like Kevin Penkin was in his A-Game for this, definitely the standout for me (We know he’s the GOAT but I felt like it was great even for his standards). The story and characters… they were okay. I kind of get the point, and he did a great job with time management for driving all these points in 18 minutes - but I feel like it really suffers due to the short runtime, unable to truly convey the intended emotions in my opinion. I get that there were constraints, that he self funded everything and couldn’t get it longer no matter how much he wanted, and I appreciate that he still managed to give us this product that was clearly a passion project - but stories like these really need time for a full impact. Overall I’d give this a 7/10, feeling like this could’ve been an 8/10 with just 5 more minutes.
