I didn't realize Moi cared that much about clothes, or rather the way he wants them clean.

Compared to some other episodes, this one had more heartwarming moments between he rand Moi. Good for them honestly. They looked good with one another, especially now that they know each other a lot more.

I know about the whole jean culture but I still think it's too unsanitized to NOT wash your jean for the whole year. I'll make the exception to Moi though because I want to sniff and lick at his unwashed clothes since there's no way he's gonna let me suck him directly when I'm not even a vampire.

It hasn't obviously stated yet but the protagonist group is quite rich (Moi wearing a million yen jean) and belong to the "popular kids" category in school. They're not outliers or underdogs like other shounen anime.

First segment was actually really interesting, didn’t know I signed up for a home economics class to learn how to make distressed jeans, but it was actually pretty informative. I always wondered why some jeans have that white area on top of the blue, as well as the wrinkles. I’m not a jeans person, wear mainly shorts and sweats, so that was an informative skit.

OH MY GOODNESS WE GOT A MOI AND NICO DATE!! I’m eating so good with romance in my seasonals this weekend. The fact Moi stayed up stressing about the date to make it perfect is cute because just being with him is enough for Nico. You don’t often see her being the voice of reason, but the way she calmly told him she’d had enough at the end and they just enjoyed a convenience store meal together was really sweet. The person is what makes the date special, not a jam packed itinerary! It’s so cute her big wish is to help people as well, Nico might be an airhead at times, but she has a heart of gold.

So looks like our finale next week with the Asunaro festival is NOT going to go as planned.
Someone’s either predicting the future or scheming. How are our crew gonna handle it, I reckon we get a very emotional moment between our two leads?(hopium)

I don't like Denim but it was interesting waffle to listen to. Isn't torned jeans also a fashion I thought Moichan would like it.

We rarely get any romantic progress so one final date at before the end is nice.
Only Nico will be able to find charm in that date plan tho. Such a good commited girl. Atleast it was cute at the very last.
These two still isn't married by the end of season is a crime imo. Such a sweet couple.

Peak only has one episode left😭😭
Hopefully it will be a banger of a school festival they are usually good.

I knew clothing could get crazy if you get into it but I had no idea jeans lore was this vast. Morihito is really into some... fascinating stuff. I learned all sorts of terms I never even knew existed. Tho I doubt I'll remember them. But it's like they say, there are entire worlds that you'll never know about or something like that. Morihito wanting to wear a million yen pair of pants instead of pawning it off was crazy but also kinda respectable. It's entertaining to see this guy talk about stuff he's passionate about cause he's rarely this emotional.

Totally didn't expect a Morihito and Nico date. That was awesome. But Morihito's date plan sucked lol. Nico is way too sweet and kind. It's a good thing that she knows Morihito and sees his good side. If it were any other girl they'd crash out. And it'd be valid. The ending was very sweet.

Only one more episode left. Didn't think the next bad guy would attack on a culture fest setting. I'm finally excited to learn what the deal with the moon is from the OP. But man I'm gonna miss this show.

I just love how Morihito is a nerd in the most obscure things. This was a fun date, but Nico should have mentioned it was too much activities planned for just one day, so they have to go on more dates without stressing too much about piling everything up in one go;) But well, she'll sure have more chances anyway. Maybe it was for the best, since Morihito was asking her out for a wrong reason, it's actually impressive how well and realistically she took the whole thing considering her feelings for him.

Loved the episode. Morihito and Nico haven’t been on a date in quite a while, so I was really glad they finally went on one after all this time. I’m happy they both enjoyed it to the fullest, and although I was hoping for a kiss, I guess it’s still a bit early for that, haha. Nevertheless, I really loved the date.

Finally, we get to see again the ship between Moi and Nico after quite very long time. Honestly, the ending of the date feels very warm. Nico might be one of the girl we wish we could have. She’s a very nice person and doesn’t judge the person’s interest like what Moi’s. Overall, this week’s episode is just a pure combination of comedy and wholesome romance 🥺

Morihito focused episode, yay! Gotta love that nerdy ogre. His demin lecture was something else. Totally understand how the others got caught up in it. Heck, I might actually try some of the things he mentioned with my next pair.

That date seemed like it was headed for disaster but Nico really loves her Moi-chan and was able to appreciate the effort he put in and find joy in seeing new sides of him. Him casually dropping hints about how much she means to him didn't hurt one bit. Go go, you two sillies!

Did not expect quite such a long prelude to the next episode at the end there. Would've preferred if the episode ended with them looking up at those stars. Got a bit of mood whiplash there. But I guess with only one episode left they needed to set things up for a big climax. Wonder who that villain was and what they're gonna do.

Turns out an oni's strength can only be surpassed by his passion for pants. How he even managed to convert the guys into his church of denim was gold lmao.

Thought Moi going off on used Levi's was the most animated we've seen him, and then the overly hearty laughs for the coffee puns happened.

"Don't try to step in any further."
Sound advice.

I have been in Texas over sixty years, and have seen lots of blue denim, including levis. Other than 'faded' or 'distressed', I have never heard anybody talk about all that stuff Moi was going on about.

"It's really tough to keep up with a running ogre."
Fortunately, I have no reason to do so.

Admittedly, I have no interest in wearing denim whatsoever, but I was still intrigued by Morihito's knowledge about the ins and outs of how to wear jeans. Still, not washing his favourite pair of jeans for over a year was overdoing it a lot. XD

The date between Morihito and Nico was pretty cute. Morihito himself was very committed to this date that he stayed up late in planning a huge schedule for him and Nico to enjoy. The main downside was date he crammed in too much to do, so when sleep caught up to him, he and Nico went off his schedule super easily. Despite that setback, you can still find fun things to do together when going off schedule, as the two of them did with the convenience store food for dinner and viewing the natural stars in the night time sky including shooting stars.

I'm expecting the final episode to be fun and crazy, since the school festival is fast approaching. Hopefully things will end on a good note.

I got a sense of deja vu. The date is straight out of the comic strip Doonesbury, from some time in the 1970s. The title character, Mike Doonesbury, was the one with an overpacked schedule, and his future wife, J.J, was the date trying to keep up. Funny that back then, he was the weird one, but things reversed once they got married.

| Sometimes I forget this anime is aggressively hetero hahahaha /j Nico is so agreeable to Morihito tbh, and he is so blunt! and the cafe scene, seeing His expression made me feel a powerful urge to punch his face. Open your eyes, Nicoooo

Yeah I've heard of people not washing their denim jeans for a while but a whole year or more sounds pretty gross especially assuming they get an odor. When I used to wear jeans I'd wash them after every couple of wearings especially if I noticed any staining or whatnot. Beyond Morihito's lesson on denim jeans his planned date ended up being overwhelming for both of them but I suppose it was the thought that counts and Nico was fine with his effort (next time he should plan on fewer activities with extra time in between to relax).

Regarding the ending of the episode, it looks like it will be set up to have someone do something bad at the school and put the blame on Nico, which may include this ending on a cliffhanger. If that happens I would've preferred to have started this arc earlier, oh well.

Heh, Moi got a win for once, good for him. He got a bit carried away with planning the date though it did kind of work out in the end.

As a side note it seems the studio has had a bit of bad luck with their time slot getting interrupted and I am wondering if they'll show the final episode before the new season begins.

There's no doubt that Moi has some pretty eccentric hobbies, but for a moment he almost convinced me to become a fan of wearing out my own jeans too and having them have a unique design.

The second part was more fun. Moi's well-planned date didn't go as he'd hoped, and honestly, Nico must be completely in love with him to put up with certain things, although it's not like she's entirely perfect either; that's why I like their possible pairing. In the end, it wasn't so bad: they had a very nice time gazing at the stars.

What will happen at the festival? That boy in Nico's class is the typical rebellious jerk who doesn't want anyone to have fun just because he can't enjoy himself.

Jeans are a miracle cloth, they really don't show when they are dirty. You can actually go not washing your jeans you wear daily. However I don't go nearly as long as Morihito, and I swap between through different pairs. Surprised Morihito didn't take Nico to a denim store during their date lol

My first impression of Witch Watch was very positive — it felt like a fun Slice of Life with good comedy that could also get “serious” at times, giving the main story some weight and making me want to follow the plot. For a while, I really thought it was underrated.

But these last few episodes have let me down a bit. It feels like the story is drifting away from the main plot and relying too much on the Slice of Life. The show kept hinting that something big was coming, but instead we got more side characters, more “side-quests,” and humor that is starting to feel repetitive. The recent episodes almost felt like filler, and even the visuals seemed to lose some quality.

Because of that, my hype has gone down a lot. I really wanted to keep loving this series, but right now I feel like the overall rating might actually be fair. Still, I’m hoping the final episode will deliver something strong, so I don’t end up remembering this show as a disappointment in the end.

@0451 OPs can be deceiving like that, unfortunately, though it tends to be more the case for long running stuff that they have scenes in the OP that will never show up in any form for the series itself. But OPs not only do that in general, but I think a big part of that is because it's a different team, so they're not beholden to the same limitations as those who have to animate the episodes

@axel_bread The manga is quite similar, I tend to put it off in general, because it really is super random in that respect as to what you'll get unless it ends like some where it's meant to be a 2 parter. There was a climactic moment a month or 2 ago where stuff developed again, but it's usually so sparse overall that one almost would want to see something that pares down the manga to remove the unnecessary stuff as much as possible. This kind of does that, though it can still feel a bit heavy on the comedy and slice of life. But that's kind of how the manga is in its entirety, paced so the action and story focused stuff is executed well versus trying to rush it all out. If we cut out all the stuff that was basically filler, the manga would probably be 50% shorter, though I don't recall where the final episode is chapter count wise and I don't predict we'll get another season for at least a year or so, just so they can wait for things to progress and have enough of a buffer

@Yngvarfo I feel like there's a short story out there in this vein that's an inspiration, also the O. Henry short story about the couple that give each other Christmas gifts that require them to sacrifice the relevant things to them, like the wife cutting her hair short. That's had many variations, but the original is "The Gift of the Magi"

Ok, so maybe this second cour would have been better if they trimmed the manga a little bit? Idk, I'm not familiar with the manga nor its fan base, would it have hurt the soul of the show doing so, like cutting some parts out? Even so, I found the first cour better in many ways, so I don't think it's just a manga source problem, I guess.

If Witch Watch gets a 2nd season as long as the 1st, it will have enough episodes to cover the entire 1st manga arc. I promise it ends on a high note if you're willing to wait that long.

@axel_bread The series can't be fairly boiled down to the stuff where we get the action without removing context and such for things like the slice of life and comedic elements. It's more adaptation in general, because if this waited a bit more until the series was done, it could've almost just gone primarily action with some comedy, because there's some pretty intense action later and probably will be again, but we've had an ongoing cooldown after the last big fight in the manga, so...if we're lucky, it'll be getting to some end by...2027?

As someone who has bought Japanese Raw Denim and am familiar with some of the intricacies, this was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one!

That blow out from the clone doing squats is not accurate. Crotch blowouts are EXTREMELY common (for a variety of reasons…) and are often the first place of failure, but I can see why it would be preferable to go with a knee blowout.

Every pair of Japanese Raw Denim from whatever manufacturer is based in some way to the legendary Levi 501, so it tracks that a conversation about raw denim would swing to those jeans.
