Honestly, this whole anime season has been so weak that I’ve kind of lost motivation as an anime fan, fall has just been rough. So the last thing I expected was for GACHIAKUTA to come out with a super episode like this. I don’t even have to say who worked on it, we all knew Yutapon was showing up. But the fact that they pulled this many animators together is actually insane.

Yutapon definitely SBed all the action. It looked like just over a minute of KA from him, and I’m like 99% sure Vincent, Chris, Nothing Yukun, and Sota handled the nail cannon scene. And honestly, that scene was basically on Yutapon’s level, maybe even slightly better in some bits. But Yutapon’s own cut here wipes the floor with the crap he did in MHA Season 7.

Yootos cut as well was small but super recognizable. I’m not sure how to feel about that slow mo in Yutapon’s part, but after seeing so much of it in Sakamoto Days, I’ll let it slide. Vincent’s cut was obvious, no doubt there, still unsure on the others though.

Not the entire episode was nonstop hype, but the crazy parts were absolutely unreal. You can tell production is finally catching up, but those big cuts were just nuts. Bravo, Gachiakuta.

This episode in Short: Yutaka Nakamura Greatness!!!

Their fight against the Old Man Bundus was incredible. Everything was perfect. And, when Rudo finally went full out with the Nail Gun and that attack was fucking awesome. It was amazing.

Looks like they're escaping now and leaving the rest to the Electric Lady, who fought Riyo. She's gonna be a problem. I can tell. But I hope they manage to destroy the core.

Rudo Reduce Bundus's defense and then Reuse the same attack to shatter Bundus's hands, now Bundus have to Recycle his hands to fix it. What an amazing use of conceptual power.

Didn't expect such an insane episode from obviously the animation to even the ost fitting so well the context, always a pleasure seeing Rudo's power too, so much variety and now he can even evolve the trash he uses

I wonder if S2 will take place on the island now, guess we'll now sooner than later.

Would love to see how Enjin will react when he know that Riyo use gun LOL.

So Jabber almost die but he still want to fight his boss, he doesn't need correction, what he need is rehabilitation.

Could they just fight elsewhere cause the cave environment is degrading good animation?

Yutaka Nakamura AND Vincent in the same episode? That can't be fair! Lmao, what a fire episode and they did a great job with Rudo's giant nail gun.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Riyo's reaction to Enjin getting hyped over a gun was priceless lmao.

The excessive guilt Rudo gets over believing he destroyed another Giver's vital instrument is both so funny and endearing to me. It's like a spin on pacifist MCs who beat themselves up over killing an opponent Or something.

OMG THE SHOW ACTUALLY HAD FIGHTING OMGGGGGG

Really good episode. 5 minutes of action and 15 minutes of useless talking. New record for Gachiakuta.

FR though, the animation popped off and had really good moments with each character. The tail gun was sick

I'm glad the show returned to it's original pure shit format for this episode. It's been stringing me along for 21 episodes with a fairly intriguing mystery plot, but it's just too much.
It's THE worst type of anime for that very reason. It just uses 5% of its story to move the plot forward, 65% meaningless exposition, and 30% garbage fights.

The worst part is that it's all a waste of time. There's no sense having fights, or explaining them, or having a flashback to establish some kind of back story because it's pointless.

How can I be invested in a character when there's never any REAL consequence to the fights? No one ever dies, or even when fatally injured, they magically insta-recover. There's only so much entertainment in laboriously explaining someone's power system and why they have it whether that's thru tedious exposition or flashback.

This is THE worst kind of writing. I would really like to finish this, but it's stupid. It's a gacha game of an anime. Just hang in there a little while longer.... more will be revealed. 21 episodes in and we know almost nothing more than we did from episode 3. Know nothing about the sphere or it's origins or about the world and why it operates the way it does. Nothing... nothing has progressed.

Such a waste as well, because the artwork is fairly unique, character designs are cool, and animation is decent. But you need a good story, while this one MIGHT be good, we're never gonna find out at this pace.

This strategy of milking out these episodes is just to make money. Do we really need 3 weeks for a single side character battle? If it was something groundbreaking, or super critical to the plot... maybe, but nowadays, it's by default. Everything is drawn out needlessly to pad the run times. Like I said, we know almost nothing more than we did after episode 3. Not really. So i'm done.

Farewell piece of shit time wasting garbage show. Wish I'd never met ya.

Gachiakuta have a bad episode challenge. Oh my fucking God this is the best animated episode of the YEAR. I knew Bones were doing well with this, but this arc has just been otherworldly. The entire Bundus fight was pure cinema, animation is obviously incredible but the OST is the perfect compliment and makes things even better! Rudo’s ultimate attack was just ridiculous. Despite all that crazy action, the mutual respect between he and Bundus and the way he didn’t want to destroy his precious vital instruments was really cool. You just can’t help but love Rudo!!

Yutaka Nakamura fucking killed it this episode, so cool seeing his DNA in so much of the fights even when other animators were doing the key animation. His cuts were obviously breathtaking but the one done by the Wakfu animator was the actual highlight.

@Ranchpig The Sphere is obviously the endgame stuff. Since ep 3 we have learnt about the series and angel people, who are most likely main antagonists of the story. Not enough? Do you want them to reveal all the mysteries immediately? I suggest you to not watch Attack on Titan then. Or Naruto and Tower of God...or One Piece. Fire Force also...just don't watch any show with mysteries, really.
Imagine normies saying: "Peaky Blinders is mid and overhyped. Just another typical crime drama show. Breaking Bad is much better.". Or: "Without action choreography no one would've cared about John Wick. Kingsman, on the other hand, is not like other action franchises!".

Wow, what an bombastically intense episode. The animation for the fighting sequences were insane. Rudo combining the power of three items into one was so cool, more or less turned a nail gun into a railgun. Hopefully they can find Amo soon, too.

The animation and fight choreography really stole the show this week.

At this point, I'm dying to know what the cute dino-girl's vital instrument is.

People are pretty excited about certain animators being on this one, I never pay attention to their names even tho I should lol, but the episode looked excellent so I guess they did their job. So Bundus’ vital instrument was prosthetic arms, I was wondering what exactly would lead to him having many giant hands lol, they were sick af in action but Rudo shut Bundus’ wall of hands down when he got a new use out of his gloves’ power, being using all his energy on one item instead of three, giving us that massive (rail)nail gun, OST choice was very nice in this scene too.

Buuuut Rudo missed the core lol, so they aren’t out of the woods yet. And although Bundus is the enemy, I’m glad his vital instrument is fixable because we barely got to see much of it and he’s a chill fella really, just on the wrong side in this conflict, or heck maybe there’s still a possibility the Raiders can become good guys if a bigger and badder threat appears. Anyway, now that Bundus is out, Zodyl is pulling out which means we unfortunately aren’t gonna get to see him fight I’m guessing, but hey at least Noerde is back to get her revenge, not sure what she’s gonna be able to pull off this time considering she was beat once already, but I’m excited to see what she does.

It's impressive that even with spectacular animation, this anime still manages to be mediocre.
If we compare Gachiakuta with Toujima Kamen Rider, both being shonen anime, but one modern and the other old, Kamen Rider wins easily despite having inferior animation. This says a lot about Gachiakuta's narrative structure. Perhaps if the author had copied not only the art style but also the narrative complexity of her mentor, this anime would be good.

@Ranchpig I understand your complaints about the story's quality, but all the rest of your complaints don't make sense if we consider that you're complaining that a shounen anime looks like a shounen anime—yes, it's slow and childish, but that's the point—it doesn't make sense judged by what the anime isn't.
