I suspect about Ichitarou's origin since last episode, but if I'm smarter I'd have notice since the first episode when Ichitarou can interact with all kinds of spirits.

I'd say the reveals today and the "test" have been worth the build-up so far. I watched it for the Ayakashi and the atmosphere anyway so seeing plot progress so satisfying today was a cherry on top.

I get a kick out of characters like Lord Mikoshi no Nyudo. That laugh reminds me of Veldora from Slime. Does anyone know if the “laughing god” archetype in anime has a name like “?-dere”… kamidere?

This episode was packed with reveals and emotional payoff. Ichitaro’s backstory hit hard, and now everything makes sense(from the spirit interactions to his fragile condition). The pacing has been slow but purposeful, and it’s finally paying off. i'm liking the vibe, the music, and how brave Ichitaro’s becoming.

So much has become known... Did I understand correctly that Ichitaro is the first son who died after birth and returned as the second son? Or is he not? And he is just the second son who was saved by this medicine?

there's been at least one instance during the anime when I wondered exactly this, now I know why

@A-ten
His name is literally formed by the words "One" and "Eldest Son", so...

The slow reveal and lore has been remarkable.
This is a thinking mature show not a quick fix.

My number 3 for the season.

honestly, I didn't see that coming.
I think the wife gone mad because Ichitarou's father brought back a child from another woman. Either way, I feel bad for Ichitarou.

Excellent episode. FINALLY.

Character conflict, emotion, stakes, plot reveals, backstory that matters. I was glued to the screen.

I feel like the show took way too long to get to this point, or spent too much time on stuff that doesn't really matter. Like Matsunosuke. Now I'm thinking he might have a bigger role to play in the murder case and the family history.
