90% of the guys are US or Canadian. Darksteel is Filipino, one guy who popped in sometimes was from China and a few Aussies. All ten or more hours away. If someone was from the UK they didn't mention it.

Oh wait, General Eddy was from there, but he stopped posting ages ago.

This website?

Beel's is only slightly smaller.

He posted pics ages ago in one of the previous threads.

Now, now. Just because I have a few anime DVDs in my collection doesn't mean I'm more "weaboo" than someone who walks around with a blow up doll of Sailor Moon in bondage.

And I don't do 4chan shit like this either:

Weaboo doesn't really mean, "anime nerd" when people use it anymore, does it?

When they say weaboo they really mean, "likely a pedophile."

We need a new word for liking anime in general more than other mediums of entertainment.

And not "Otaku."

Otaku are weaboos.

I have two terrible qualities about me. I like attention, and I like to humiliate myself for attention and to humble myself.

So back in 2000ish, I'd dance like an idiot in DDR. It was pretty fun playing that way, but it's really embarrasing having people watch you.

Anyways, best way to be recognized and original as well as being really embarrased and getting a lot of attention at pax06 was that sailor moon thing. I was going to put it in a noose, but thought hey it's japanese, and I'm using this cheap rope. So I googled the bondage knot and went with it.

The attention exceed expectiations :O. 4 years later and people still bring it up.

I really don't see the problem with it though. I think the main problem is that people think it's a blow up doll.

If you think I'm a weeaboo, just ask yourself how many anime shows you've seen from the last season. How many are you keeping up with this season? And include the one before that. (Fall 09, winter 09, spring 10). I've onyl seen one. K-On!!.

How many wall scrolls or anime posters have you put up in the past 10 years? I put up 1 wall scroll ( i think it was yugioh) and while I buy posters and such, I never really hang them up except once.

All I needed to do to get this super weeaboo rep was have a bit of fun at pax06, then occasionally make a choice post in the right thread.

Who gives a shit about weeaboo or otaku or whatever? It's just a label, a generalization. I have to put up with people assuming I'm a fanatical moron because I'm a Christian, a nerdy loner because I like games (to the point that I'm studying how to make them), and a total geek because I play DnD, watch anime, collect MT:G and like Sci-fi/Fantasy novels. Doesn't bother me one bit, and generally the people who associate all that stuff with negativity aren't worth getting to know, or getting worked up about anyway.

So, in short: To hell with the term 'weeaboo', and anyone who cares enough to use it.

I was just kidding about the Sailor Moon thing. I thought it was hilarious and that you had huge guts for pulling it off.

Now now, Slicer has assured us that Irond Will is a perfectly reasonable man.

http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?p=14582859#post14582859

I'm not exactly convinced that it's reasonable to say that someone who uses the term 'weaboo' has a negative view of anime.

So you see why I don't get where you see this bias.

Here's my example of a reasonable person, and I'll quote it here:
http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?p=14583596#post14583596
I guess what baffles me is that after it was closed, I looked back at the last several dozen pages of the thread and I really didn't see any of these problems you're talking about. Where was this pedophilia, piracy, image spam, bitter rivalries, and insane nerd rage? If these problems existed they sure didn't seem very recent. Only things that seemed questionable were a couple of screencaps that were a little NSFW and were presented poorly. And they weren't porn/pedo pics either, they were caps of visual gags from comedies or romcoms. There's the occasional pervy joke, but it's no worse than anywhere else on these forums, including the chat thread itself. I mean it's okay for a thread in D&D to have someone talk about their penis(and even draw a penis from what I understand) but if someone in the anime thread makes a body pillow joke oh noes? There really wasn't any pedophillia in the thread at all, just people making fun of it. No one was talking about how much they love lolicon being all "hey check out this hot 12 year old anime chick".

I know there has been issues with the thread in the past, but I saw nothing in the current, recent history of the thread that really warrants the kind of hostile reaction it got. It was basically just a bunch of people politely talking about the shows/books they were watching/reading. It just seems pretty unreasonable to punish the thread for past problems, and to put higher expectations on it than other threads. I agree that overall the people in the thread needed to get a better grasp of not posting NSFW images, but other than that and the OP the last thread was pretty harmless. So just don't understand where all this bile is coming from.

If you want any of the supplemental material, the standing offer stands.

Also, everyone should make sure not to forget about the Season 4 manga, as they're readily available. (Although you really should get the translations of Sound Stage X off me first)

I also liked how Will never responded to that reasonable post.

So remember when I said I would PM a mod about moving the Graphic Violence?

I give up.

Here's what I sent:

Hi there, I was hoping to get your opinion on something a bunch of us are considering.

How would the community here take it, as well as how you and the other mods here would feel about it, if the Anime/Manga thread were moved from D&D to here.

Lately the atmosphere there has gotten extremely hostile, with certain people posting out of context excerpts from our thread in the chat thread to make us seem like nothing but a bunch of frothing at the mouth pedophiles.

I took exception to that. PikaPuff most certainly does not froth at the mouth.

But joking aside, we're maybe looking for a new home and your place looks inviting, but we wouldn't want to impose ourselves unless we were invited and welcome to stay.

Sincerely,
Falx
