| So, I found out some local terrestrial channel is broadcasting Lucky Star dubbed in Tagalog everyday at 5:30 in the afternoon. And I'm like, whuuuuuuut. I gotta check out how much fail this is. It's not really the kind of series you can just translate and shove in there, ya know? At best, they gotta Asterix and Obelix that shit. They're also doing Clannad on prime time, so I guess I get to finally check that out too. In Tagalog. |

Most are really bad (not to mention having a weird volume imbalance where the voices are louder than everything else), some are really memorable. Everyone, and I mean everyone, can still shout lines from the Tagalog dubs of Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Lupin III, and Yu Yu Hakusho. That's how popular and awesome they were. The recent Code Geass dub was really good too, but it's pretty hard to fuck that up. I mostly enjoyed it for the awesome maniacal laughs. Lucky Star looks to be leaning on the suck side though. | Visited a friend's today and brought back a stack of stuff to watch, as I haven't been through his collection yet. Ended up with Cromartie, FMP: Second Raid, Elfen Lied, Berserk and Negima. Not quite sure where to start, but I think I might go with Berserk. |

| It really is. Terrifyingly suitable though. The last 25ish seconds of that is great. As for Berserk... Everytime someone says Midland I giggle, because there's a suburb near where I live called Midland, and it's a HUGE hole. |

| Cromartie and FMP are good stuff. Elfen Lied is brutal and pulls no punches, which can be good or bad depending. That video may have convinced me to finally watch Eureka 7. But first I have to get through this stack of DVDs I just bought. |

| I was also doing some more research and found this little gem, for people like me who were wondering what happened to the Nanoha StrikerS manga license http://okazu.blogspot.com/2010/01/yuri-network-news-january-29-2010.html YNN correspondent Sean G. did some great investigative reporting this week, when he contacted Digital Manga Publishing and asked whether they had abandoned the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS manga. Their response was 'We still have it. Lyrical Nanoha Strikers will come out this year. Vol. 1 is in September.' As Sean said, "there you go." |

(Which, I might note, was their first time watching it, and my 30th. I'm going to keep going with Berserk in my own time now. About 5 episodes in so far after the one sitting. |

I had to bust out the Wikipedia JP and Google something fierce to see what some of the names are in English. Like what the fuck are "syringomyelia" and "neuromyelitis optica"? |

| Huh. Interesting. Made by Enterbrain of Kimikiss fame, Amagami centers around a second-year high school boy who find himself uneasy during Christmas time due to an experience in the past. However, this year at Christmas, he gets his last chance to ask out a graduating female senior named Haruka Morishima — or one of several other classmates. The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated. Each heroine will sing her own version of the ending theme song. |
