Tora is a classic tsundere. XDDD

Already loving this anime, I'm hyped for the next episode, also Ushio is so badass with that long hair. @_@

Lemme rephrase it, the anime will show the conclusion. The mangaka wants the ending to be shown, so he helped cut stuff and fuse other things in order to get the main plot in. So it won't adapt all 333 chapters, but it will cover the necessary ground.

I feel that this should work, seeing as (based on where I am now) there's a lot of stuff that can be cut out. It's not nearly as episodic as Conan and the cut stuff won't make it seem as bad as Yamada-kun was (to me) but we'll see. I have enough faith in the author and Mappa that this will work out.

Oh ok. Mappa, imo, has delivered on their recent anime so I'll have faith in them. But as long as it isn't butchered like Yamada then it should be a fun ride.

Nice to see the two start to work as a team. From what I understand about the underlying plot, this should be a super show when it kicks in more. With the tv news capturing the images of the fight, I suspect the girls will figure out it wasn't just a dream and will get more involved as well. With 39 episodes confirmed for the two series we've got enough room to tell a pretty good story too, particularly if they dispense with the monster of the week.

This was a rather boring episode. It looks like it'll be going for the monster of the week format which doesn't seem that nice. I'm not giving this anymore episodes. The comedy is starting to feel more off than before. This just doesn't look like it'll be interesting enough to continue. I even felt sleepy while watching this episode. Drop drop drop.

For the record: lightning attacks are ineffective to rock type pokemon.

Umm why were the girls naked when the rock shattered off, but Ushio wasnt?

This series could really do without the moe quirks.

Don't worry peeps, the fights do get longer as it goes on. Oh they decreased the focus on the naked girls, well it always did feel pretty out of place so I guess they'll lessen up on the few other fanservice scenes as well. In just 2 episodes it really does look like this is on track to being an improvement over the manga.

Amusingly, when I first heard that Fujita is going to cut something to end this anime in 3 cours, the first think I thought is "They probably cut the stone armor thingy, that's totally filler".

I guess what I forgot is this is the first time U&T is caught on camera and broadcasted, which become important later on.

Next episode is still pretty much filler IMO, but a visually impressive filler (read: creepy as fuck) so I'm OK with it.

There were definitely some questionable things that need to get answered:

1. Why didn't Tora just help Ushio by bring his spear to him? Instead, he tried to avoid the barrier to close again. This feels like a forced drama.

2. We, & even Tora said it again, knew that Ushio was in a normal human state when he's not holding his spear. And at that time, his neck got punctured by that rock samurai. He should've bleed to death! I mean, he got punctured in the neck & got destroyed. I do not think normal human could withstand that.

3. The spear suddenly moved by itself right at the moment where Ushio & Tora almost got defeated was too convenient.

4. When Ushio broke free from the rock curse, his clothes still on. But when his friends broke free, their clothes somehow disappeared? Why?

But I must say I am still enjoying solely because I fancy the old school style of this anime show, nothing else.

The way im seeing this is were essentially getting all killer no filler in this adaption, which might actually be a good thing.

Yeah, we might lose a bit of characters growth compared to a full adaptation the staff initially wanted to do but it's better this way I think. There's less MotW stuff and we'll get into the main plot 3x faster this way which is a good thing since I heard that it gets really good once the main plot starts kicking in.

I think if they wanted that to be some kind of "hidden function," then at least give us some indication. Not just suddenly there.

Lol at people talking about asspull when it's the 2nd ep of a 39-ep anime. xD

Well, in the 1st episode, Ushio said that the spear talked to him. It's not unusual to think that it has a spirit of its own or even move on its own, especially with shounen/youkai anime.

Maybe a dream. Or maybe when he's at home & he was thinking about the spear, the spear suddenly arrives by itself.
But that skill was not placed/used at a very specific moment to help the almost died main characters. That spear skill used at a very specific moment.

Critical moments are when protags "learn" critical things in every story. Also, Tora said he's getting the hang of it, that'd be enough for it's not "just there".

Maybe in every mainstream shounen anime show, but not in every story.
That's not an indication. At least give us something. Maybe like he's training with the spear, then suddenly the spear move a bit when he wants to reach the spear(not really flying to him & help him). Now that's an indication that there's some kind of hidden power & would make that "asspull" moment much better.
Look, I am not saying the reveal must be outside the critical moment, it's fine. But give us a hint before the reveal.

Let's say "in most stories" then (it's not just anime or manga). A Protag and their friends don't just find a ciritical evidence lying on the ground in a crime drama, a protag facing adversary doesn't find a way out in one second in action movie. Ushio's life was in danger (and life-threatening situation had not happened before), so the spear or Ushio awakened, healping him out of situation. Simple story. This episode was the indication you meant.

Monster of the week format? First episode the "monster" is one of the main characters of this anime. There's a monster that Ushio defeated in the second episode and you assume it's a monster of the week anime for 39 straight episodes. Ayyyyy great logic.
