 A new anime film for One Piece was announced following the anime's 1000th episode broadcast on Sunday. Titled One Piece Film: Red, the film is scheduled to open in theaters in Japan on August 6, 2022. Toei also opened an official website, revealing a teaser visual (pictured) and teaser trailer.Gorou Taniguchi (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, One Piece: Taose! Kaizoku Ganzack) is directing the film, with Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film: Gold, Gantz:O) penning the script. Eiichiro Oda, the original creator, is serving as the chief producer and supervisor for the film. This marks the fourth under the title One Piece Film series after One Piece Film: Strong World (2009), One Piece Film: Z (2012), and One Piece Film: Gold (2019). The last few films have been a treat to keep up with, especially Stampede, so I'm looking forward to seeing what this will have in store for us! Will it be a canon movie? Don't know. Canon anime movies are absolute money-grabbers. Jeez, when was the last time I had seen Shanks? Feels like decades ago. I read somewhere that this movie might hint at future events in the manga that involve Shanks and his crew. It could be a good way to foreshadow, making this movie somewhat canon. Only time will tell. |

| Interesting that Toei hired Goro Taniguchi for this movie since he was the one who directed the Jump Festa special under Production IG way before Toei ever picked up the rights. This really felt like a direct callback, given that the movie is a commemoration special for the 1000th episode just as much as how the Ganzack special was intended as a pilot for the One Piece anime. I'm interested in how will this turn out, given that the Ganzack special was too expressive and weighted under Taniguchi's direction. |

| Kind of wonder what is this about. Girl?music? Shanks? Teaser looks dope even though it didnt give out much. Last movie stampede was not as good as previous 3 movies. Even though animation was top notch. This news apparently excludes stampede and calls other 3 as "films" instead of movies. I didnt notice that before. That mean something? I am not sure what to expect from this. But regardless I am excited. |

| I wonder if that girl's wings are real or not. If they are real that means she is a Shandian or a Skypiean. And it would be even more interesting if the movie takes place in a sky island. I would like to see a movie not related to strawhats but it is near impossible not to feature Luffy and the others in a One Piece movie. But at least for now I am free to imagine a movie that takes place in a sky island with Shanks and the Red Haired Pirates as the main cast. |

| Finally, Though I agree that canons are money grabbers, this movie might shed light on how shanks formed the red hair Pirates, it might also introduce us to their power levels. This itself is something to really look forward to. I don't know why, but when I saw the poster something clicked and the first thought that came to my mind was that: "Wait... Luffy... has a mom right?" |
