I feel like Mieruko-chan is in the same situation. If it was to get a season 2 and animate the part directly after were season 1 ended it would get a lot more recognition imo.

I really don't know. There's a saying "First impressions are everything".If it has a rocky start it might not recover unfortunately. I really like the creepy atmosphere but in ways I feel it falls flat when it's trying to be funny. If it is better later I hope it does continue.

That aside, the anime has already done a great boost for the manga. It's being reprinted for the 4th time and the manga has now sold over a million copies.

I think it will get moderately more and more popular as the show goes, but nothing too crazy. Unless animation is really good and/or it gets viral in social networks.

@Moppit I don't know, while there's people that definitely don't like the comedy aspect, it still seems to work well with majority of the watchers, which is great. I for one like the comedy of the series, but well, it's all subjective at the end of the day.

To be fair, while I disagree that anything in this manga could be darker than Berserk, what they're talking about is certainly messed up.

Still now its not really that good what people were excited for. but if it goes into some paranormal weird story twists that doesn't seem so dramatic nor fanservice. I think on that time it will pop out.

@Saimatsu_Fan Well Steins Gate have a very slow start. It became really good around episode 11 or 12. currently Dark Gathering just episode 9, so maybe we can have another steins gate moment here in Dark Gathering.

This anime deserves way more popularity. If shit like Spy x family can gain such popularity, Dark gathering deserves it

We never know.. But, base on "24-25 episodes anime" rule, it'll get praise once it reach the second cour. You know something will happen if they change the opening and ending ost. Means that the real plot is coming.

Lot of 24-25 episodes anime follow this rules like NHK ni youkoso, Shinsekai Yori, Mawaru Penguindrum, Summertime Rendering, Stein Gates, etc.

So, yeah, let's hope the studio do it well in the second cour.

Me personally, doesn't really care about this become popular. But at least, I hope it deserve more praise with it getting 7.5 rate at this site.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode because I'm curious about the massacre of the ghosts. I hope the studio gets more profits so that they can quickly get S2 for this anime because. In terms of rating, 7.36 is quite satisfactory, in fact most anime that get S2 must have a rating of 7 and above. I hope that this anime studio can be profitable for them.

I cant really think of shows getting really popular if they arent already this late into a run unless its doing something really out there in a spectacular way or was always pretty well recieved and just hits a strong point that gathers wider appeal like what happened to ping pong or odd taxi. Dark gather has been decent but I dont think its ever gonna do anything to be "popular" and if it did i think alot of people are not gonna drop off before it gets to that point.

"First impressions" are important, but it's not the make or break for an anime.

except that it was already popular because it's a generic battle shounen with a cute waifu

dark gathering isn't a battle shounen, and anime fandom only basically hypes action stuff
