What started out as a genuine friendship between Arajin and Matakara, now he has to face reality to shut him and Ichiya down.

Teacher Otomi going for Jasmine-chan as his servitude, it's obviously a cat of all things. And Mahoro being the bro-con, literally has to strap Kenichiro to his hospital bed to see her brother Marito's happy face. Arajin has made the fateful decision to merge and fully become Senya to face Ichiya through a fate that transcends 300 years.

Senya acting like Arajin now, they surely need each other to separate Matakara from Ichiya. And in the same process of Ichiya wanting to make Senya a Honki Person, here, they face their feud as fellow friends, fighting as true Honki People. When Matakara completely took over Ichiya, things take a turn for the worst, and Arajin has to take every chance he gets while fighting a significantly tougher Matakara, to save the innocent within him...and teach Senya of what it truly means to be a Honki Person. With the stamp on Matakara's palm, he is back as his own.

The temple may be destroyed, but its bullet will never detract away from Arajin.

Kinda of a mixed bag for Hiroko Utsumi and her team for this one...

The fight between the worst MC and the person who should've been the MC begins.

Transcending 300 years of time, the ultimate fistfight between Matakara and Arajin begins. Arajin is determined to combine forces with Matakara. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Mahoro bids farewell to Kenichirou, Marito, and Minato Kai. What will be the outcome of their duel? After a long duel, Arajin and Matakara make up and head back to school.

What a shitty delinquent anime this was... (and keep in mind, I think Tokyo Revengers is good). Just stick to the hell trio or whatever, MAPPA... you're not cut out for originals anymore, whether that be in terms of storytelling or characters.

This has to be one of the worst buildups to a final confrotation I have ever seen.
Arajin has a 180º personality change in less than 5 minutes in total between chapter 11 and 12, with no more motivation than Arajin being what Ichiya was? But he has never talked with Ichiya so how would he know?

Not only that, but the eternal cloud of edginess that Ichiya was, gets a less than a minute exposition on why he was mad at Senya (and himself) but during the suppossed fight to end all they are just playing... which I understand since this is what they always wanted, but is being badly implemented.

Matakara suddenly absorbing Ichiya as the new edgelord is even more stupid, but I guess it was necessary to be solved, like I said a few chapters earlier and i guess everyone as expecting, the way to let the power of friendship™ fix everything.

I'd give this a 5 since it had some ideas, but the stupid and streched cat subplot can be considered an extra -1 or -2.

Last anime of the winter season!

Everyone predicted this, but Jasmine-chan is a cat yesssss xD
5:46 赤飯 (sekihan lit. red rice) - red rice (beans and mochi) for auspicious occasions. Sekihan is often served on special occasions throughout the year in Japan, for example, birthdays, weddings and some holidays, such as Shichi-Go-San.

Just a reminder, 本気 (honki) - seriousness; earnestness; truth; sanctity
18:28 I recommend checking this scene out frame-by-frame, they look really cool.

Holup what...? I thought Matakara's brother was dead? wtf
Nice episode, it was really pretty.
I'm still wondering how the hell Senya and Ichiya became genies tho.

7/10
I guess I've enjoyed this more than most people. The story was interesting enough and the animation was amazing throughout, I especially loved the moments with rough drawn lines. Also the setting with mixed Japanese and Arabic cultures was really cool and unique, I wish they extended on that somehow.

And one undeniable fact: Arajin's mom best girl

And with the final episode of Bucchigiri, the winter season finally comes to a close.

The director thinks she can keep making yaoi-bait anime forever, but Bucchigiri serves as a warning sign that the formula that works so well for Free! and SK8 is fading away because there's a shift in audience taste. Don't get me wrong, Bucchigiri is not a bad anime, but her next project won't be as fortunate if it still has the same formula. If you ask people what's their favorite yaoi-bait anime of this season, they'll say Brave Bang Bravern!

Should've know that Jasmine-chan was a cat all a long. I'm glad this show was over because Arajin as the MC was trash even though it was done on purpose. The only reason why I kept watching was for the fights which were really good. The characters were a little bit on the eccentric side, but that was to be expected from Hiroko Utsumi previous work from Sk8.

The ending was alright I think. Arajin's character development taking a 180º like that definitely felt off and would've been better as proper gradual buildup, but it's better than nothing and the way the final confrontation played out was good by itself. It's sweet to see Matakara and his friends make up, and I'm glad Arajin is still a loser in the post-credits scenes lol. The animation and colors looked particularly pretty in this episode also.

Even with all the obvious faults I can't help but be fond of this show, there's just something about it. I liked the characters (even Arajin had his moments, sometimes (though I'm probably biased because I like his seiyuu)), the humor mostly hit for me, the backdrops and overall look of the show were nice, and the action scenes were really cool. That being said I'm still a little disappointed by the wasted potential and I wouldn't say that this measures up to Free! or SK8 by any means.

It could've been so much better and that will always be a bummer to think about, but I'm glad to have been able to have fun with this show in spite of that.

So Jasmine-chan turned out to be a cat all along lol. Kind of expected that but I'm glad it was finally cleared up.

The fated confrontation between Arajin and Matakara is here and it looks like they put most of their animation efforts into this fight. Arajin is victorious and Ichiya's control over Matakara is broken. Finally Arajin and Matakara's friendship is repaired. Also, what a crazy way for Senya to return at the end 💀

This show wasn't all that great, decent story and animation, meh music besides the OP, and mostly forgettable characters. It seemed like an interesting idea on paper but fell flat in a lot of places. Clearly MAPPA had their C-team working on this one.

Finally, Arajin redeem himself, he should do this from the start, the fight with Matakara was marvelous although his desire to lose his virginity is more strong than waking up matakara lol. we can see Jasmine chan in her full flesh and mom simping for Marito and mahoro as same as usual. Good thing matakara and his bro gonna be okay. It cliche but the best for the series

Love the epilogue scene and details of Jasmine chan in all the frame. The Shindo female ver is mysterious though....

The power of friendship wins! Finally, the only seasonal anime I've been following is over. The animation in this episode was absolutely insane. The choreography is also top notch. All the characters found peace. With this, I once again declare that Arajin is my favorite character! Seeing Arajin and Matakara reminds me of Aladdin and Alibaba from Magi. All that drama makes their friendship so beautiful. However, we still don't know what the black shadow really is. The black shadow is not just Matakara's imagination as some characters like Ichiya can also feel it. Maybe for season 2? I think it's quite possible. I hope season 2 will be more about Mahoro. Don't just use her as a plot device. Still, the chibi version of Mahoro giving her heart to Arajin was a genius choice! Maybe season 2 can explain the reason for Mahoro's brocon trait? This is an anime that can write Arajin's character so I believe that they can also do the same for Mahoro. Anyway, overall I'm satisfied with Bucchigiri?! Thank you for keeping me company for these few months.

Never let MAPPA writers cook again.

The story was horrible, I didn't like most of the characters, and the only saving grace was the animation and the music.

MAPPA should stick to adaptations; this was overall a horrible anime original.

Had to plow thru the last 4 episodes because winter had too many top tier shows.

Meh.

This finale gives me enough material to write a whole textbook on how not to write a finale. Don't shove in pointless flashbacks along with random scenes of side characters just to elongate the already expected fight already hyped up in the previous episode. Avoid power of friendship bullshit and other stupid cheap anime tropes like excessive rivalries.

The actual fight was so so, even if it has some great sakuga, what made the fighting interesting in this show was how well animated were Matakara's kick-fighting style.

Matakara's nightmares or demons cam out of the left field, I certainly don't remember any of that being introduced prior to the big plot twist. It was also kinda cheap that the genies can just switch hosts just like that. Matakara's bro being stabbed in the last day of his sentence was a terrible asspull in terms of story writing, it's also a left field element just to push in bad drama and the whole twist on Matakara's personality. Matakara going dark reminded me of how awful acting of Hayden Christensen in Revenge of the Sith when he turned into the dark side. The cheapest of cheap was to cue in the audience that Matakara's brother would be okay afterall. His only purpose was to serve as a plot device that didn't even have actual presence in the present timeline.

The only saving grace in this show was Mahoro for being the only character that gave Arajin the most deserved disgust face (where everyone else treated him like some messiah). And also the teacher and the cat cafe skits (though it kinda does break the message of perseverance at the end).

Just like I said in Shitty-la frontier, good visuals don't make an anime. This deserves a 4/10 in my books.

P.S. Mahoro also gave me a great screencap to use on pesky MAL alt/clone accounts.

Thematically a solid finale. As honki people, the only way Arajin and Matakara were gonna settle their beef was thru fighting. After all, that’s how they became so close in the first place.

As you’d expect from any MAPPA anime, the final fight between Senya and Ichiya was well done and I like how they seamlessly transitioned to the Arajin and Matakara fight in their normal human states. Could feel the impact of every blow and all the emotions from both pairs of old friends being let out.

This has always been a show where feelings are conveyed through strength in combat and you got a good sense of that in the finale. Glad all the bs is past both sets of friends and they got happy endings.

Think the only thing I didn’t like about the finale is that Mahoro still ignoring Arajin at the end lmao. Like damn what does he have to do at this point to get her attention.. good to see Matakara brother showing signs of recovery too and then Senya’s return at the end! Solid ending for all.

Think the show definitely peaked around episode 6, before falling off substantially and then having this good finale. I still hate how Arajin treated Matakara and thought a lot of actions were dumb, but this was a solid ending to an original.

It didn't fall off at the end. It was pretty bad from the very beginning. The only interesting thing in the early stage was the fighting animation and a promise of an MC getting proper development sometime soon (which we never had, just a last minute sudden shift to shoehorn into the narrative).

@CorbanEsp 100% agree with you, perfectly said. Show was a shallow comedy for 10 episodes and tried to fit a whole story and different tone into the last 2. There was so much to be done in that last episode but as you said.. friendship over solving plot holes and storytelling.

Extremely weak original anime. They should've stuck with the vibe that was going on the first 2-3 episodes. They were able to close up 1 of the 4 teased subplots. Bummer.

@phantomfandom At least with Free! and Sk8, many of characters were appealing and/or memorable in some way. I won’t claim they were the best fleshed out of characters but they in my opinion were far more likable than the ones in this show. That helped to boost the popularity of those shows.

I will agree though that the same repeated underlying formula does not help.

@Devonnius Yuri on ice was one of the best rated of its year, I liked punch line though is not for everyone and you needed to stay until the end to it to be actually good, Kakeguri and Zombieland Saga is comedy gold.

I'd say they can make originals, don't stick this to the whole studio.

This finale was so bad it made it good? Idk

The subplot about the cat was... yeah about a real cat, kinda killed the fun mystery, the fight was nonsense and not in a good way, disappointed about Matakara's darkness being he just feels alone

I absolutely adored the pilot so coming from that and seeing where were at i feel frustrated, there's still some good in there but you gotta dig deep

Solid 3/10 won't go higher

Also opening is still a fucking masterpiece fight me.

Well Arajin finally got the "character development" he needed, but the horrible last-minute execution, the fact that he took this long just to realize how much of an asshole he was to his childhood friend, how he still continues to simp for Mahoro, and how he got acknowledged as a Honki person even though he doesn't deserve that title, makes this all so unsatisfying. Even until the end, Arajin continues to be one of the most infuriating protagonists I've ever seen. And Matakara beat the shit out of everyone, but he got welcomed back into the gang with open arms, just like that?
And Ichiya's reason for suddenly wanting a death battle with Senya...I'm not sure what was going through his head when he simply could've just told Senya what was going on and that his dying wish was for Senya to fight him seriously for once or something. Even if Senya wouldn't be able to unleash his full potential and defeat him, surely that's better than leaving Senya bewildered by not saying anything at all and Ichiya ending things on a bad note with his best friend right before he died.
The gag with Jasmine-chan was one of the worst I've ever seen as well, it was not funny at all with how predictable the punch line was. The mom's dramatic monologue and her misunderstanding about Arajin was probably the best thing about this episode, although overall I didn't find her running jokes that funny either.

Overall, just a show with decent animation that was pretty entertaining in the beginning but became worse and worse with many pointless scenes that could've and should've been used to show more of Arajin/Matakara or Senya/Ichiya's past instead. I couldn't get invested in any of their relationships. Sad that the most likeable characters in this show imo are the ones who barely got any screen time, like Matakara's brother or Matakara's two main gang buddies. 2.5/10.

Arajin and Senya finally face their pasts instead of running away [again].

I have to say the fight itself was incredibly satisfying. The build-up was awful though. There was no reason to drag it out, and they could have added the flashbacks in those episodes instead of the final fight. In general there were a few wasted episodes.

Arajin is also one of the most annoying characters I've come by. Matakara was definitely too pushy with idolizing him, but in a similar manner, Arajin failed to consider anyone else's situations/feelings.

I am Matakara biased because he is one of the cutest characters ever, but Arajin is still annoying.

Yeah, not much to say about this show. It started off entertaining and messy but just let us with that messiness ever since. Arajin's whole character growth being sidelined for the end here lost pretty much all its impact, too. Didn't feel much for the Ichiya - Senya storyline either, sadly.

At least the theme songs and the animation were great though.

Settling on a 4/10 for this one.

Welp that sucked. The only reason I decided to watch this in the first place was because Utsumi-sensei was at the helm of it. From the beginning, I was skeptical of it due to the premise....but I decided to stick with it so see if it would have any redeeming qualities by the end of it.....and it really didn't

Arajin was such a shitty mc, and never really got better. His 180 degree character development in the finale, on top of his "friendship" with Matakara was so forced and unearned....Arajin goes from basically hating and not giving a s**t about Matakara, to being best buds with him in the last episode. Such lousy writing.
Everything with Mahoro was just...whatever. Her character didn't really serve much of a purpose in the second half of the anime. The eccentric side characters got boring too...

And while I think Matakara shoulda been the mc from the beginning, his character arc was so lame. Bro gets killed off screen(well he technically is in a coma I guess) and his body gets over taken by the blue guy and turns evil. Could care less about the drama btw Senya and Ichiya either.....

It was just all around very mediocre. 3/10 for me. Here's hoping the SK8 Infinity OVA and season 2 of the anime will be better, whenever it comes out...so tired of waiting for it

Always tend to get antsy for finale episodes in originals but this was great, all tied with a bow, good fight scene, friendship is magic scenes and comedy spliced in.
And so glad the brother was actually still alive. The whole"he probably won't make it" thing made me thing he did end up kicking the bucket.

Me and friends really loved it and now onto waiting for a nice collab and/or cafe for some cool merch (yes, merch releases for the show have been insane and good, but unique illust are always best).

You edited the whole post that it was just a single line saying that it fell off until the end.

Also, Mahoro was never going to acknowledge Arajin in any way. She's too infatuated with her brother. It would be a complete flanderizing moment if she suddenly changed her mind about Arajin. That's one of the least saving grace in this show.

Well, that... didn't work.

It would've taken nothing short of a miracle to salvage the story and the main character in the final episode, and there were no surprises here.

They fell asleep at the wheel around the halfway point and wasted the many great things from the first half of the show; cool premise, strong art style, the Arabian Nights influence, great animation, etc.

It had some great moments (I still remember the wrestling match episode being a ton of fun), and it wasn't afraid to be a little weird and different. "I'm not mad, just disappointed."

Seems like the author was having trouble making story premise then he watched Tokyo Revenger. On the meeting he said "How about we make delinquent anime like Tokyo Revenger but better MC than Takemichi?", everyone at Mappa instantly agreed because they were already tired and overworked.

The comedy is not really funny and the cat cafe joke is very overused. Should have copied Rokudou instead of Tokyo Revenger.

This series started out interesting but then got boring when I realized how annoying of a character Arajin was.

I loved Marito from start to finish and it was exciting whenever Kenichiro spoke hahaha. I'd watch a spin-off of just those two... without the sister.

Bucchigiri was very funny throughout and the finale was no exception. Arajin being a horny shithead teenager waking him up in the climax of the fight was especially funny. This was a great parody of delinquent anime. I'd be down for another season.

The episode was good.

I will be lying if I say that i was not expecting a memorable fight to end this story.

The potential was there for something greater than that for me…

if you hated this episode/chapter, just watch/read something else...

honestly the only episode where Arajin isn't a complete bozo and (sorta) redeems himself in my eyes so that made the episode more enjoyable. the best parts of the episode was clearly the fight between senya and Ichiya and understanding why ichiya was such a little knobhead. Probably the best episode of the whole series, not only because the series finally ended and I don't need to see Arajin behave like a douche anymore, but because of the fight that was beautifully animated :)

The MC was irritating at times but I think he made up for it in the end. I liked the characters, theme, music, animation... Some of the gags got stale but I still enjoyed it. I felt like it should've been longer though since there was hardly any chemistry between Arajin and side characters. 7/10.

I wanted more of this anime, but I'm so happy Matakara and Arajin are back together! (yes, I ship them since the beginning I know, it's been hard to see them apart all the time! Arajin why were you like this??!)

The fight was a very good one, and the ending with Jasmine chan was lol, I also knew it was a cat place mwahaha.
Hope Jasmine chan found a human after all who can feed her and love her!

Wow, would you look at that? The aggressively unfunny and pointless running gag of the guy going to see "Jasmine" turned out to be about a cat after all! Who could have seen that coming?

Thank you shit anime for wasting runtime literally every episode on that, rather than trying to make Arajin even vaguely likeable until the final episode.

Easily the worst anime I finished from the Winter season, nothing short of an embarrassment throughout with one of the most unlikeable MCs I have encountered in a long, long time.

I hope the director never works with this writer again.
