| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Oh nice, sumo wrestling time. It was pretty silly but also fun as I laughed quite a bit watching it. Matsutarou's rage was delicious XD I am surprised by his abilities though as he is able to hold off his own and even kick some ass. Not bad. I think people underestimate this guy. |

| This is absolutely without a doubt one of the worst shows I've ever laid eyes on. Matsutaro is one of the worst characters of all time and I hope he gets brutally beaten. He should have never gotten a second chance to begin with. Ugh. |

| Man, Matsutaro getting so much hate. I'm also trying hard to like him, but he is truly repulsive. Still hoping redeeming qualities will show up. I've never seen a sumo anime so my interest is still peaked. That was some bad ass fighting. I hope he starts providing for his family because his siblings are too kawaiiiiiiii! <3 Not that big a fan of the animation, but whatever. I have a feeling it will pick up. |

| i don't find him that unlikeable, the episode was nice and the fantasy with him and the girl mad me laugh. i just didn't like the way he got into sumo, i was expecting something different |

| Good episode, I do like how this show subverts all the tropes of a generic sports Shounen. In a shitty sports anime what would happen is that Matsutarou would have challenged the sumo wrestler and failed thus gaining a respect for the sport in the process. I am very glad they didn't go down this route. I hope shows like this and Ping Pong kill off the shitty sports anime of recent years such as Kuroko no Basuke and such. It won't happen but I can dream. |
| Well I agree about the fact that Matsutaro is unlikeable but I believe he will show his qualities later on. Anyway, it was funny as fuck the last scene of every director trying to convince Matsutaro to join. |

| It seems that I am the only one who actually enjoys seeing Matsutarou being a huge ass to everyone. Call me crazy but it sure is refreshing compared to a lot of other anime main characters. |

I usually watch the first couple episodes of almost every show in the season and only keep watching the shows that seem interesting, I just don't add them to my dropped list if it is a seasonal show and I have only seen 1-3 episodes. So I have seen enough of other modern sports shows. Kuroko no Basuke I watched after it had aired and had just finished Ippo so I was looking for similar shows. |

What are your complaints about the ones you've seen? For example, Haikyuu, Baby Steps, Yowamushi Pedal or Diamond no Ace for starters. |

He charged at him, used a dirty trick, and then continued to grab him by the hair while slapping his shit. That doesn't mean he'd win in a sumo match or that there won't be far greater opponents in the future. |
| The animation is so poor, but I could see 100 episodes down the line his character arc being nice to follow. |

I can understand disliking the unrealistic or generic shonen tropes of a lot of sports anime, but I personally embrace them. |

| Gotta say this is my least favourite episode so far. One thing I am glad for, it does seem like they will get into sumo more often now that he is joining a dojo(?). |

| I thought he would lose against the sumo wrestler again. Boy, I was wrong. This was an interesting and funny episode. Also, Matsutaro has the appearance of Nishi, but the attitude of Joe (kinda). People who have read/watched Ashita no Joe would understand. |
