| Takeda is starting to become a more complex characters since his debut. With each episode including this one, he seems to develop more ambitions. At least Hikaru is back and awake now. Even with all the drama and supernatural shit going on, he's still at the center of this story. 2 episodes left now, still feels like a lot to tell. |

| On today’s doomed yaoi.. there’s actually not a whole lot of yaoi stuff, this was probably the most lore and world-building they’ve dumped on us thus far. Still, this left us with a lot of questions like what exactly is Tanaka’s sword, what’s his “company” and what the Indo family original sin was. We know there’s more to Tanaka than just being here for Nonuki now, but what are they after ?? 🤔 looks like we’re finally gonna get a proper convo with Yoshiki’s dad soon too! So Tanaka cuts off Hikaru’s head and leaves him alone, but why? To feel out his abilities, did he realize Hikaru/Nonuki isn’t evil or is this part of a bigger scheme? The spirit medium did say even in his weakened state, Hikaru isn’t weak enough for humans to deal with so maybe it had to do with that. Very chilling to see Yoshiki trying to put Hikaru’s head back on though. Speaking of heads, if the villagers sacrificed people to Nonuki and cut off their heads and all the spirits we’re seeing don’t have heads, surely that means these are the spirits of the sacrifices who haven’t been able to pass on? Pretty fucked up that they went out that way and still haven’t been able to find peace. Also, note that Hikaru talks about not needing heads to grant wishes, that’s a nice callback to an earlier episode where Yoshiki asked him to kill him and Hikaru didn’t want to, clarifying by asking “is that your wish” since granting wishes is in his nature. This leads me to think the Indo family either asked for a crazy wish or maybe tried to kill the spirit? Only one way to find out, asking Yoshiki’s dad. The look on his face when he found out about Yoshiki being in danger and rushed over is really sad because mind you he already lost Hikaru’s dad who he was clearly in love with and then almost losing Yoshiki too, poor thing Another banger ep, post credits scene is wild too. Is Hikaru having urges to consume Yoshiki 👀 |

| Finally some reveal and how creepy. So that's the curse. Conveniently his memories about Indo family's sin is still missing so gonna wait for it to be revealed. What was that vision about a woman? Btw again really liking Kurebayashi san's character. Wasn't expecting her to be such a reliable place for them to be around but it's really nice. Also looks like the company isn't really after nonuki sama to kill/exorcise it but has their own agenda. Btw that news reporter looked oddly suspicious. Is it the woman on the phone? |

| The first thing that stood out to me was the anime original scene where Yoshiki's dad rushes to meet him. It gave me a jolt of sadness. The dad has already lost someone he deeply cared about, and hearing about his son getting hurt without them ever having talked much must have been terrifying to him. Like, he was once again losing someone he loved. "Hikaru" makes some really dark jokes! lol Finally, we get to learn about Nounuki-sama. If I am not wrong, the name was originally Uronuki-sama, which was a nickname given to the abortion drug made with mercury. My dictionary says Uronuku means to thin something out. The name then morphed into Unuki-sama/Unuki-san, and later turning into Nounuki-sama (Lord Brain Snatcher). Quite in line with the name, people seem to sacrifice heads to the god. Nounuki-sama and "Hikaru" are known to grant wishes, but "Hikaru" says he doesn't need the heads to do that. Anyway, if you go back to episode 4, where Yoshiki is grieving Hikaru, "Hikaru" says he'll grant any wish Yoshiki has. Then, in episode 7 (I think), after Yoshiki asks "Hikaru" to kill him, he's horrified. "Is that your wish?" he tries to clarify, since granting wishes is part of his nature, and he really doesn't want Yohsiki to die. Then, he even fights against his nature to make sure Yoshiki decides to stay alive. I think it was also episode 4, in the post-credits scene, when Hikaru notices what he assumes to be Nounuki-sama, and decides to make a wish to it anyway, knowing the wishes is what started the curse and the rituals. The temple of Indou—known as a 'Dou,' the same dou as Indou—is freaky!!! Though, it was scarier in the manga, since the manga has no colours, so I really thought Hikaru's family had been collecting human heads. The hunting-dog sent by Tanaka was a travelling monk who was forcibly decapitated. Damn! Yoshiki and "Hikaru" have noticed the absence of Hichi-san. I am not sure what to think about the weird place they placed "Hikaru's" night visit, but I am glad they didn't cut the scene, or else a different scene would have felt very out-of-place. Can I talk about last episode here? lol Well, last episode, we saw Kurebayashi's husband do something to their son's eyes, and then we see the husband's teary eyes like he felt guilty. I checked the scene in the manga, because I couldn't remember the spirit feeling bad. Well, the manga scene makes it look like the spirit took the son's eyes, and it's tearing up with the son's tears of pain. I am not sure which interpretation is more accurate. |

Omg im not sure i remember correctly but i think the part in the episode where yoshiki's dad came home worried about yoshiki is an anime only moments they decided to add, thats kinda heartwarming

| Interesting episode. I’m glad we’re diving deeper into Hikaru’s origins, as well as the village’s centuries-old history. It was also surprising to learn that the detective was actually blind. I’d love to see a backstory for him, especially since he debuted so late. |
| We got so much info this episode. This village's history just gets darker and darker... So the villagers just sacrificed people's head to get better harvests and protect the village, killing a lot of people for that... That village pratically was built over the assassination of a bunch of people... I wonder what the Indo family did specifically, since it seems it was the whole village that participated in this gruesome ritual. Did they make some terrible wish? Having a shrine like that in your backyard is crazy though. I'm surprised they answered this mystery already, but they did give us another one already, since Monster Hikaru said that he didn't need people's heads to grant people their wishes... And they still haven't really explained what the ritual the Indo family does consists off. Burrying the parts of the corpses in different locations was really creepy though. But honestly, the most interesting part of the episode was the end. I was really confused when Yoshiki asked Hikaru why he came up to his house last night and I was like "hmm, did I miss something?" but the way they showed us what happened right at the end, and in such a creepy way, IT WAS SO WELL DONE. It seems Monster Hikaru really wanted to "consume" Yoshiki at that time, which is a concept that was already shown in earlier episodes, but refrained from doing it at the very end. This term is actually quite curious, because this can be a metaphor to the fact that Hikaru wants to get more intimate with Yoshiki, but it refrains from doing so, due to the circumstances they are in (and the anime has a lot of them). But this idea of Hikaru consuming Yoshiki isn't new to the episode either, since when he woke up, he was going to do it right away to Yoshiki, if it weren't for Rie, I don't know what could have happened. The way she was looking at them at the end of that scene was like she knows that those moments of them together won't last for much longer... And I really wonder what are the true objectives of Tanaka, now that it knows who is Nonuki-sama. Overall, what can I say, another great episode of The Summer Hikaru Died. Still one of the best anime I have watched this year. Watching this episode after watching Takopi's Original Sin, which is probably another great anime of this year, really is an incredible experience, and really solidifies how this anime deserves more recognition. Edit: Forgot to mention, but the initial scene with Yoshiki in despair, trying to reattach Hikaru's head was so well done, even I was feeling that despair and anxiety. This anime is so well directed. Also, it seems we are finally getting some lore on Yoshiki's father next episode! I'm really curious to know why Yoshiki doesn't really talk to him, but the scene where he came back home running, when he knew Yoshiki was attacked was really heartwarming, you could see how worried he was for Yoshiki. Also, original Hikaru learning all of that at such a young age, it's really sad. It explains why he was so mature for his age. He always kept this struggle to himself too, since Yoshiki was completely unaware of this. |

the manga is rly good, but i kinda dropped it when the anime got anounced. wouldnt be the case if they butchered the show but they didnt, but anime for this kind of story is just so much more imersive. like in the ep yoishiki attempted to kill him, reading the manga there was some angst but watching it, with that ost and sounds, i could only hold my breath and pause every 3 minutes to circle my bed and sit down again. So ill likely wait for s2, cause THERES NO WAY theyre not making a s2. (wich will likely take some yrs 🤡)
so the best case scenario is them anouncing "season 1-part 2 in january" that would be freaking awesome

What a dumb episode, gets his head cut off somehow reattaches it and the guy that does it just stands there and watches. Next thing we know, he's still alive, and they continue the episode as normal, and for some reason, the lady is cool with a murderous parasite still roaming about. Am I the only one that wants the parasite to die? Shows getting annoying af now.

| Ah, so the village has been cutting off heads to offer to Nonuki/Unuki-sama, well at least Hikaru didn’t lose his head in this episode lol. Jokes aside, cool and spooky lore there, we’re learning quite a bit about what’s going on in the village but at the same time there’s still a lot that’s not clear, they’ve been doing some pretty fucked up shit from the looks of it tho, the head shrine was quite creepy. And Tanaka is apparently blind without those cool sunglasses, so I’m glad he gets to keep his signature cool look for a plot reason lol. Also, Kurebayashi seems to think no ordinary human can do anything to Hikaru, so is there something special about the sword Tanaka was using? Something to do with this company they keep talking about too, I wish they would just name drop it already but not sure when they’re gonna do that lol, maybe they’ll just beat around the bush forever. |
| Can't say I was too much of a fan of this episode, I don't like when they just info dump a lot of stuff almost at the end of a series, feels unnecesary and confusing. I feel like this kind of story could have benefited from a simpler story |

| The village has a dark past that makes me think that they deserved to be cursed. But in order to escape that fate they imprisoned Nonuki-sama on the mountain to act as a lightning rod to attract any spirits drawn to the village. At least that is what I think. |

| So the name of the village did matter, I remember thinking all the supernatural so far were about heads and now it makes even more sense, god that was freakíng disturbing. Beheading and offering heads, separating the body parts, this village is fucking crazy... I thought this was the Indo Family's sin (that they are executioners), but they're only tasked to do the offering and their sin is something else? what could it be now... Yoshiki's father seems to know something about the Indo family, well he is kinda close to Hikaru's dad. Tanaka is really interesting, I wonder what his end goal is, he has his own reason for going to Kubitachi and it seems like he's looking for this Nonuki-sama, could it be to cure his eyes? And now Hikaru's reverting to a monster that wants to consume Yoshiki... hang in there a little bit more, don't let your head fall off again. |

| So my suspicions weren't wrong, Hikaru and Yoshiki's village really were psychopaths. Offering heads as tribute, no wonder they kept it hidden. And they keep bringing up that damn company Tanaka belongs to... even Kurebayashi mentioned it. Now I'm really curious. And what is Tanaka? The way he spoke in this episode gave serious signs that he's not entirely human. What was the Indou's sin? This is blowing my mind... and I love it. |

| Random conspiracy theory time, I have no idea if this is true or if there’s something I forgot that disproves it, but is Tanaka the housewife medium lady’s son? He’s blind from some kind of spirit/impurity attack presumably, her son was injured by the impurity of her husband, and he seems to know an awful lot about the town’s secret lore for a guy not from around there. |

| Damn, Unuki-san needs to calm down, population control is just practical. And damn again, Yoshiki putting Hikaru's head back on like that o_o. Okay so far i'd say the answers to the mystery are satisfactory, plenty creepy and the village elders are complicit, which is refreshing when they could've gone the route of the evil being from outside and not within. Fake Shizuo is growing on me, i hope his backstory won't be lame. |
