The final rites of releasing the failed tsukumogami off Yokichi, and Ichitaro's fight has come to an end, though he ended up being unconscious for both Sasuke and Nikichi to rescue him from the fire.

With all the mishap that's happened, the tsukumogami were definitely lectured by their masters, and so too was Matsunosuke running away from Azuma-ya looking for a better job elsewhere. The glass whittle that accompanies him like a protection charm that belonged to Ichitaro, it's like the secret guardian angel that kept him sane throughout the inferno. And that may be part of Ichitaro's ploy to convince his parents to take over Nagasaki-ya, with Matsunosuke as his assistant.

The murder case solved thanks to not just Ichitaro, but the ayakashi who've helped him along the way, as well as the people over at Miharu-ya, like Eikichi. The cause for the celebration feast for all the ayakashi bathing in Ichitaro's sweets and Byoku Nozoki's dance, it truly is a happy ending, all things considered, as is Ichitaro being in continuous care from Sasuke and Nikichi.

A decent mystery series that starts off slow, but the payoff is its biggest draw.

And so we end with the aftermath of confronting the failed tsukumogami, meeting with Matsunosuke at last and a big ayakashi party.

As it turns out this series ended up growing on me as it went on. I found myself getting more attached to the characters and the story. It was by no means perfect. The early episodes were a bit on the slow and dry side, a common pitfall in mystery series, but you know what? By the end I found myself enjoying this enough to crack my Top 10 Anime of the year list, albeit just barely. Maybe that says more about the quality of the anime I watched this year than it does this show, or maybe I just tried to include at least one show from each of the four seasons, but I dunno. I'm not gonna take it away from this show. I honestly have no idea if this has more source material. Judging by the ending it seemed to me like a fairly self-contained one-off series. But if more does exist, I would absolutely love to see it animated. Solid 7/10.

And my number 3 show of the season ends.

There is plenty of source material for more seasons so I hope we will see more yokai mysteries with Ichitaro in the future.

@TheHaterTrue I know you are the true hater but did you like anything this season? Does everything bore you?

The final episode makes it look like a happy ending but the truth is several people were killed. Yes, I kinda understand that evil spirit's grudge but revenge is not gonna fix the situation, especially revenge on innocent people.

It's nice to see brothers live together in the same house though. I think the highlight would be the big brother story, on how close he is to commit a crime, yet he choose not to. The point is not about how he choose the right thing, but how environment and situation can force a person to come so close to commit a crime, even a good person like him.

The novel is 24 years old and still ongoing, so this anime is like a pool in an ocean. But I don't think there's a plan for a sequel, it's kinda invite audience to read the novel instead.

An excellent, unhurried story about life with mythology and detective staf in the Edo period. It was very nice to watch.

It received an unfairly low rating, especially in an era when trashy isekai, perverted harems, and dumb shonens get much higher ratings...

Another story that should have stayed a novel. A fine mythology mystery, that lacked suspense most of the time but still was interesting enough.

5.5/10. It deserves more, but as i said, novel is probably way better.

Story had a lot of potential but they messed up the adaptation lol.

Man i really really loved this anime and oddly specific but the ending song was by far my favourite for this season never looped an anime theme song so much in a while 😭.

This anime was such a wonderful surprise. Great writing, characters, and story. AND, both the opening and closing songs were excellent. I hope there is a season 2 in the future.

Nice finale, bringing back most of the ayakashi and giving a perspective on the character's future.
The overall show kept me watching due to the plot falling into place after a few episodes, the historical setting and some nice cultural elements. It's been good at what it wanted to be, I'd say, and something slightly different from the usual.

Well, that was a sweet little dénouement episode.

As far as mystery series go, I've seen better (and worse, let's be real). I probably won't be coming back to it.

My 354th completed series chronologically.

For the record, I extended it a 7/10 rating.

I watched this because people said it's like Natsume Book of Friends. Turned out the only thing that same is there are spirits that friendly with the MC lol.

The spirit casts are also underutilized which only act as background characters unlike Natsume.

The second half is heavily focused on the Tsukumogami that it forget other stories like Oharu and the Matsunosuke store's people.

Overall a bit disappointment. If they make another season I hope they make story with story with shorter arc.
