They skipped the whole 2nd chapter..

Made it feel super fast.

I’m curious if they did that to link the two tattoo scenes. Because he shows Hori his tattoos at the beginning of chapter 2, then chapter 3 is the interactions with Tooru.

Hopefully we’ll get the rest of chapter 2 next episode.

I hope it gets in, It's important to understand Hori position.

Never thought I'd ever see a proper Horimiya adaptation but I was wrong, and couldn't be more happier about it.

The visuals are great, could see Cloverworks are putting their honest efforts in the show. They cut most of the chapter 2 but great episode nonetheless

Just started manga going into the anime, and it’s been done really well! I think the OP and ED are really good, and the Ed is really unique! I think the first ep was good, but it was paced a little fast. The second half of the episode could have been part of ep. two. But, it does introduce the characters well, so I’m not complaining! It also looks really good, like you would expect. Excited for the next episode!

horimiya is here! beautiful fist episode T⌣T

at first i felt the pace a bit fast, but since nothing important was cuted (even there's a scene added) its feels ok. i guees its to get to adapt a good part of the work in only 13 episodes. even Shuu already appeared lol

i liked the OVAs but this version promises highly superior. the seiyuus work is beautiful! love each dialogue and they served a very good character intro.

OST, visuals, the OP are great to me. the ED doesnt seem like a big deal but its cute

What an amazing first episode! I already know I’m gonna love this anime. I gave the manga a try and never caught on after the first chapter but wow I love that the first episode of the anime completely changed my mind! Heck can’t wait for the next eps! The characters are already all precious as it is. Protect them!! And what a cute ED! I look forward to my weekly dose of serotonin!

The pacing feels weird, and the post is pretty much nonexistent..I'm kind of disappointed

Finally it's here!! I love the art style it suits it so well. The ed really surprised me, reminded me of Pokémon kind of. If all goes well, its going to be a good lightweight romcom to watch.

So far so good, its been good.
However there are still places I feel like they could improve on such as I personally felt it was a bit abrupt the introduction of the characters.
I feel people who hadn't read the manga might be a bit confused or just feel it was rushed.
And was it just me or was the ED just not as good as the OP, maybe its because it was computer generated but it definitely felt aritficial.
However, overall the anime has not dissapointed and I look foward to more episodes and seeing how Cloverworks has adapted the manga! (and webcomic) ^^

nah there ain't no polygon going on......well not with the characters you're thinking about

It's because of what happened at the end with the confession and the other blond girl, I thought there will be a love polygon but if it's not the case then I'm reassured

the blond girl was actually a plot point that I think is gonna be in the next ep?

but the confession is there and done now. he gets a new ship anyway :P

Great episode, it's nice to see all of these characters finally brought to life. Love the art style too, it follows the manga's almost perfectly. Although it's been years since I've read the manga, it seemed a bit fast-paced. It's not too bad though and it's refreshing to see everything sorted out so quickly when they would usually be dragged on as huge misunderstandings in other romance shows.

One big thing I don't like is the usual trope where the girl hits the guy just because she's embarrassed or mad...it's really annoying and it's not funny. And it's kind of weird to see all of these characters with weird-colored hairstyles (Tooru's is purple, Souta's is gray, etc.), it's really throwing me off cause I've been imagining them with natural hair colors the whole time while reading the manga lol. Still, overall liked the episode though and I'm excited for the rest of the episodes.

This is going wayyyy too quick. From pciking up her phone to casually just hanging out at her house everyday in the matter of 5 minutes? I don't know if they are just speedrunning the manga but at this rate the character interactions feel unnatural. I guess I'll just start the manga tonight.

Amazing, simply amazing. It's so faithful so far and they package the first episode so perfectly, it's a perfect pacing. The animation is smooth too, and the artstyle is just as good as the manga.
The opening suited this series so much both in term of the music and the sequences. The ED is unique and the song is good too.

Bakamura will never tire me, this couple is so wholesome and funny, one of the best couple I've ever witness, in the manga there's only wholesome moments and looks like the anime will be faithful through all that.

Tl;dr : If it stays faithful it's easily will be AOTY. No debate.

Ahh the old portion of Horimiya. I missed this in a sense, since I loved Horimiya for the first 40 chapters while I've been bored by it for the next like 80+ after it got too stagnant. Getting to experience that old portion again feels nostalgic, and to experience it in anime form is something else. 2018 me would be eating this anime up good.

Or that's what I would love to say, but unfortunately this episode was a real mixed bag for me. I love the character designs, the voice acting, and the characters Hori and Miyamura are nice. But the pacing feels really fast and the show feels poorly directed with scenes feeling like they're missing the impact and mark with their punch lines as stuff just happens out of nowhere so quickly and they kept on using similar kinds of shots over and over again with the white background and the colored shadows, like many, many times. The character designs looked good but the directing's not good as a whole which underwhelmed me a lot.

I liked the characters and I was never bored, but the delivery was rough, which I never expected based on the PVs I saw. Not a bad premiere for the entertainment side, but mediocre overall, especially considering what it could have been with proper pacing and more inspired directing choices.

Cute af, the mcs are very likeable and I love seeing them interact. I feel it's a bit fast paced though, idk if that's true or not in the manga but here it seems like too much is happening too quickly. Or maybe I am saying this because I am used to other romance anime where the progression is slower. But I feel like parts of their interactions were glossed over, idk if that was a writing choice or not tho. For example the montage of Miya's likes/dislikes. Or how we went from one interaction to him casually hanging in Hori's house every day. Regardless, I want to see their friendship/relationship in the upcoming episodes. It's great that Miya is friendly with Toru instead of seeing the cliche rivalry too!

The only tragedy is that we'll have only 13 eps of this :(

Is it really too soon to start chanting, "Season 2! Season 2!"?

CloverWorks would have to totally bomb the rest of the season for me to feel otherwise.
I've only read the first volume of the manga, but this is so spot on; they totally captured the art and personalities, etc., and while I'm sure the real nitpickers could quote chapter and verse of what got cut, it seemed a good cohesive whole from my perspective.

I am impressed, if there's one show that instantly managed to grab my attention, it was Horimiya. The artstyle is phenomenal and so far the characters look to be great.

Hori is really cute and she seems to be a hard worker at home, while having excellent grades. Miyamura's "second" appearence surprised me. When he first appeared on screen like that, I didn't take notice up until the point he (re)introduced himself to Hori. Incredible!

Hori was so adorable repeating baka so many times!

That's a really unique ED though, loved that!

Really curious to see what this show has in store for me, I am going in blind but I only hear great stuff about it.

The new shows this season have been pretty lackluster, so I was expecting that this would carry the new seasonals, but this was lackluster as well. The comedy sucked, and the romance doesn’t seem like anything unique. Hopefully this show will get better with drama, but so far it doesn’t do anything to stand out.

Even now it's still weird to see an anime adaptation of Horimiya, especially because it has been published for more than ten years and it already had a previous adaptation. But oh well, in anime anything it's possible.

Watching this first episode continues to surprise me how many fans the manga has, they kind of feel undeserved especially since this first episode has been quite average with almost nothing remarkable. I've always compared this manga to Kare Kano indirectly, and by now I can only thank the anime for helping me to confirm once again that the latter is so much better in any aspect.

Leaving that aside, I have always liked Miyamura as a character (my reasons are personal tho), so I hope to be able to know more about his character!

Felt so rushed and I didn‘t like how the transition of scenes were handled... Some scenes lack build up and therefore felt too dramatic. It‘s a good adaptation and almost just like the manga I‘d say (identical scenes with little changes in detail and order of events, but they make more sense like that), but is it just me or did the whole thing feel kinda awkward? I really liked the Ishikawa and Miyamura scene on the roof though. The OP was nice too.
3/5

Imo after watching ep 1, Horimiya maybe just hits better as a manga (I recommend reading it till chapter 50 or so, it‘s really cute). It’s just the first episode tho, so I may change my opinion later on. I wanna see how they handle the comedy aspects in future episodes.

(Still can‘t get over the fact that the whole Hori family isn‘t blonde though hahaha)

If the purple-haired boy isn't bi for Miyamura I will be sincerely disappointed (and also curious as to what role he even plays in the story other than "jealous guy", which doesn't matter much because from that last scene Miyamura and Hori are practically married).

Nice first ep, I just think the op is way too overdramatic considering that the original source is a fluffy Rom-com, not a slice of life drama.
