| This whole First Class Mage arc turned this anime to feel like one of the dime-a-dozen isekai animes. |

Just on mana alone Fern could never come even close to Frieren. Sure she'll probably become the greatest human mage of her age but that won't come close to Frieren. She might not actually surpass Frieren. At least not right now. But as the pupil her goal should be to become as great if not greater than her master. Just like Stark is to Eisen. Fern already shows a lot of promise as a mage and she's still very young. So I'd say her future is very promising. I don't think being a human will limit her considering Frieren's master Flamme, who has a legendary status, was also a human. I don't think mana alone will determine whether she'll surpass Frieren or not. |

Starts off strong with Ubel fighting her replica and Frieren finding a secret room. Then it turns into everyone sitting around. Then it turns into Edel having a very verbose explanation about magic that the characters and we the audience already know. Somehow making 2 minutes of dialogue feel like 2 hours.
This was a completely skippable episode in my opinion. 2 good scenes and a cliffhanger ending.

| Damn, those copies sure are a tough match to deal with. I was confused at first why that copy of Land was full colour and able to talk but that's his abilities. I didnt quite catch that before. Übel sure is good at being manipulative. Ahh why can't next ep come already... | Ubel pulled on Lands heartstrings with that plan of hers, While we got a cool fight scene out of it. A win is a win! |

| Once again, seeing Fern pouting out of jealousy because the mature-looking mage hugged Frieren to check her resistances was cute and funny. The fact that Fern grabbed Frieren and held onto her for a while afterwards only made it even cuter and funnier! This episode showcased even further as to how difficult it is to fight clones of yourselves. Denken made the right call for his group to retreat from dealing with the Frieren clone. Meanwhile, seeing Ubel and Land deal with the Ubel clone was tricky, but the way that the pair defeated it was pretty awesome. It was one of many parts of the episode where the animation quality looked incredible, especially how we see Ubel charge at her own clone and having the odd POV angles from her when she attacks and defends. Wirbel's group were having a tough time as well, but it was nice to see him figure out a way to get the better of the clones, too. Hopefully it won't be long before his group make it to where Denken and Frieren's group are. Same with Kamme and Lawine, who we finally see for the first time in a while, making their own steady progress in the dungeon. Considering how tough the Frieren clone is, Fern is showing confidence that she can win against it. While it would be funnier if there was a random mimic chest lying around for Fern to use, I think winning here from her own skills would be more impressive and satisfying to see. I do hope she can win this fight, as it will still prove to be a difficult battle. |

| Edel commands the clone Sense to kneel. The clone tells her to sit down by stab to the chest (lol). I think the clone was actually still playing nice, since it could have stabbed her in the head (death) instead of the chest. Methode hug Frieren to test weakness of the elf. Frieren hugs back, and say Methode smells nice. Hmm, I noticed Fern made a grumpy face when Frieren hugged back. ^^ and Wierbel's party got involved in a projectile spam. It looks like a gun fight, with people shooting and then going for some cover. xD looking forward to next week! Noo... only a few episodes left. This anime is so good. Hopeful that season 2 is already planned! |

| This might be among the most well put doppleganger fights I've seen in anime thus far. Not only did they account for their fight patterns but for how well they'd do given the memory copies. Two great moments to set aside from the incredible animation: the way Fern was being jealous of that lady for hugging Frieren and how non challantly she said she could kill her. Man, she really can be scary sometimes. |

| The battles are all awesome and well thought out, strategy wise. Unpredictable too. But for me, that scene where all the statue's heads looked up, the blocks shifted, a stairway appeared and they saw the mural of the King ... now THAT is an amazing dungeon discovery that gave me chills. Best moment in the entire episode, and that episode was full of great moments. Those escape bottle golems are really well constructed and good at their job of protecting the mages and getting them out alive. Kudos to whoever made them. I can't wait for next week's episode. |

| A really solid episode. I don't see much people talking about that discovery scene, but that was pretty interesting character development after the previous episode. Fern seemed to be the one to really enjoy and smile about that discovery, while Frieren wasn't that excited in the first place, but ended up being happy to see Fern actually amazed and expressive. I like the fact that even in a build-up episode like this, there is always some kind of depth to it. Anime of the decade, there is and won't be no competition. |
| Lol fern's gonna pull out a mimic chest or wierd magic tome isn't she? That said it would make sense fern could probably beat frieren, though not in power, the greatest threat to a soldier is someone that knows their habits and skill methods, especially people close to them. |

Ohhh, interesting. Fern is undoubtedly strong in terms of raw power (seeing what she did to Ehre is the first exam lol), but can she beat Frieren? Or maybe that isn't a perfect clone, because it would need an insane amount of mana. Tho I hope it's a perfect one, it'd be more interesting that way.

- The secret room part would be anime original. But it gave us no new information and it's not attractive at all. I don't get why anime team inserted it.
- I'd also like to take Methode's test for binding magic.
| @kuroneko99 The way I understood it, it added to Fern and Frieren's relationship. Just as Fern told Sense that she continues to be a mage because she wants to see Frieren smile and be happy, Frieren seemed to be happy when Fern was amazed at the room. |

| Damn you know it's really not fair that the instructor had a copy made of them as well lol. Figured it had to have happened tho. I wasn't sure if Frieren & co. would have gotten involved in the fight against her clone, but once they were I had a feeling Fern was going to play a major part in beating her. No one here knows Frieren quite as well as Fern. Very much looking forward to it. |

| Disappointed but somehow expected that Denken wasn't able to defeat the replica Frieren for all his strategy of gathering information. lol at Fern pouting when Methode embraced Frieren Übel and Land may end up as a couple too. Too bad I was spoiled by reading Frieren's wiki entry, but the episode still surprises me. Finally, no flashback this time. Typical shounen episode but still excellent. |
