| The corrupt priest dude is dead by this point and Fern and Frieren must continue with their travels so they head into town. I didn't mention this in my last two posts but i think the two like Intro And outro OST for this anime are amazing on par with that of like Vinland saga and Vinland saga is a very nostalgic anime for me because it was during the happiest period of my life i watch it i think so even getting to relive those memories for a moment is really nice. Those bandits i thought were going to like try and hurt Frieren but they turned out to just be chill dudes and helped Frieren find that dessert spot and give Fern a Happy birthday. In this episode we also got our first proper fight scene with like this beast thing demon seal is about to be broken and Frieren has to come in and save the day, very typical fantasy anime content but Frieren kills it without much issue so congrats to Frieren i guess. Also Frieren apparently had her skirt flipped by the mayor decades ago don't know what that serves to the plot but we know that now. |

| Imagine getting wiped out by your own magnus opus. Truly hilarious lol. This episode is my favorite so far with not just the dialogue carrying the episode, but the action also being impressive (though short) and well explained. A great episode for sure :D |

| A very sweet episode. Still slow paced which is relaxing because allows the viewer to absorb the nuances of the story better. No deaths of old friends this time around, but they do get to see what 80 years does to the art of magic and to a six year old brat. This show is slowly becoming a favorite. |

| After hearing so much about Frieren, here I am starting it on a whim. Knowing nothing other than it dealt with a long-lived character, the passage of time, and various memetic images, I think I understand a bit of why it garnered such popularity. The main characters so far, Frieren and Fern, and quite stoic, but there are certain things that cause them to emote, making the show cute and charming in a subdued way. I like that Frieren's stubborn and detached on the outside, but really cares for others on the inside. I'm reminded of Gandalf's quote, "A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to." She doesn't constantly hover over humans, she instead shows up only when it's necessary. I like that Fern tries to be serious and straightforward, but isn't above things like getting flustered over Frieren secretly acquiring sweets. I recall this show being described to me as super chill, but has shades of hardcore action, and I can see that here. I enjoy a good traveling anime, especially ones set in fantasy lands. It gives a sense of worldbuilding through the eyes of its characters, and I enjoy the slice of life aspect of characters just enjoying their lives in the company of nature and other people. So far, nothing too grand or fanciful has happened, but I do like being able to watch and relax. If there's one thing I can compliment the show strongly on though, I appreciate its respect towards preserving the past, valuing the present, and not fretting too much over the future. The show strongly abides by the flow of time, and seldom have I seen an anime have its world age and grow. I'm reminded of things like Beast Tamer Erin and Allison & Lillia, and that's great company to have. |
| Human adaptability eventually let humanity learn and grow from studying Zoltraak, advancing their magic and equipment. It's a cool in-universe way to show how humans raise the floor for their fight capabilities over time, but in retrospect, it's also a funny way to inadvertently explain powercreep in various MMOs and live service RPGs. |

| Frieren is such an awkward person, but at least she’s genuinely trying. I’ll never understand how anyone forgets their own birthday, though. It should’ve been pretty obvious to Fern that Frieren was trying to find her a present. Also, the bar scene cracked me up. A whole room full of rugged, mohawk-wearing tough guys… who also happen to be dessert connoisseurs. And wow, human development really can be absurdly fast. Poor Qual. His killing magic went from cutting-edge to completely outdated way faster than he could’ve ever anticipated. |
