I expected Novak to blame the Church rather than heliocentrism... Perhaps I assumed he shared our perspective on what happened. Given how morally rigid people were at the time, I suppose it's only natural that he saw the culprits behind his daughter's death among heretics rather than within the Church itself.

It's Orbin' time!

And man, the philosophical talk between Draka and Jolenta.. She's a wise woman now

I'm sad to know that Potocki is dead, I did wish he could still get his 10%

God that scene of Jolenta reuniting with ozcy through his writing was brief but stellar, this show is so close to being a 10/10 for me it just needs to really keep up these last half dozen episodes.

I was kinda on the fence with Oczy's book got burned. But it created such a beautiful scene..

It gets better when you remember Jolenta tought Oczy how to read and write.
"Reading and writing are indeed miracle"

Nowak is back and he already figured out their plan. The final confrontation between father and daughter going to be epic.

After all this I can't really blame him. What a guy, brilliant antagonist.

Whoa, Nowak is still alive! There's a good chance he'll meet Jolenta especially after they both got involved in this case. I'm amazed that even after becoming an old man, Nowak is still great. He's a character that shouldn't be underestimated. No wonder why Jolenta is still and even more graceful as an adult. 39 years old and has killed many people? Little Jolenta probably wouldn't believe that her life as an adult would be like this but it's really admirable.

Anyway, maybe it's the camera angle but for some reason the black hair who asked for the next location looks suspicious now lol. I hope there's no traitor. I swear. I know the main character this time is Draka but like, for God's sake.... at least just this once please...

@CaptainKenshiro It seems to be mentioned that she was 14 when Badeni and the other bloke befriended her, though I would have thought she was 18 to 22. Then plus 25 years, and she is now 39.

@patkarunungan Yes, that's the case, though for some reason I thought they said 35 years instead of 25, like how do I hear 35 instead of 25? But it must be my bad.

Rafal wrote it first. Then Badeni reproducted it after burning it on the Beggars' heads. Then the priest who tipped about Badeni's blasphemy, reproducted it from Badeni's handwriting. Last but not least, Draka read & memorized it, so that Jolenta, of all people, would be the last to write & finally publish. How sad i am that even after Rafal gave up his life that it would take this long to get published that Potocki died without receiving the 10% Rafal wished he would. How amazing it is that this cycle, although started by Hubert, that a 12-year-old would be one of the reasons the world turned upside down the way it is now. Can't wait to know how this series would conclude.

Truly, there is a lot of historically accurate progression when it comes to societal changes as this anime progresses. This is reflected a lot with the types of protagonishts that are higlighted at each stage of the theories progression. It also is an indication that sometimes a great idea requires several lifetimes before it comes to fruition. The originator might not be around to see the actual fruits of his ideas, but their contributions cannot be discounted.

JOLENTA IS SO BACK!

Continue to love her character. It was sad to see Nowak in the state he was, but it's not like he was a great guy either...
Now Nowak is going to be agaisnt his own daughter without even knowing it. Rafal's words still affect him, even after 35 years, which is crazy, and just shows that he was right, because even after 35 years, the heliocentrism theory is still on the horizon, and now Nowak is going to try to stop it once and for all.
This new inquisitor is also really cold, treating the herectic like it wasn't even a person...
I think we've met Damian before, but I really don't remember who he is, maybe the guy that was with Nowak since the beginning?

Anyways, Jolenta's speech to Draka was really interesting, and you can see how much she has matured. She even had to kill many people since she escaped the inquisition. Also, she is missing a tooth.
It was so emotional to see how Jolenta enjoyed hearing Oczy for one last time. She was right when she said to Oczy back in episode 8 or 9, that writing was a way to immortalize a person. This is probably one of the best scenes in the anime so far. It really hit hard, knowing that after 25 years, Jolenta was finally able to reunite with her friends, in some sort of way.

Now that I think of it, Jolenta never discovered that her dad was an inquisitor, did she?
I can understand why having a conviction can be a curse. The truth is that Jolenta wasn't able to live a normal life, not only because of what the Church did to her, but also because she wanted to pursue the conviction that heliocentrism would bring freedom to the world. But at the same time, if she didn't pursue her conviction, and wandered in life, would she reach the end satisfied with her life? Probably not, but I guess that depends from what the person believes in.

Anyways, I feel like the next episode is going to be a big bomb, gratefully, it's already out! Watching this with a week delay does have its advantages (but from now on I will finally be able to accompany this anime weekly again!)

Jolenta with the reveal being the Heretic Liberation Front's leader certainly was (but not at all) a surprise, and even the Church's own followers of Bishop Damian and Inquisitor Asch are having second thoughts about their orthodoxy teachings, that teaching by violence and torture isn't the way to go. Also, the findings about the notebook on heliocentrism that spans generations, from Potocki, Rafal, to Bedeni and Oczy, these men might've died, but the legend still stands thanks to Nowak still living and drinking his days on end, earning without having to work. Asch trying to get more details, only to the frustration of Nowak, which he clearly saw Bedeni and Oczy's last rites, and his daughter being dead (at least to his knowledge). A last-ditch effort from Nowak sees him pulled into the current investigation, and with the technology of their age, it's easy to print material and spread the word, so that would be his first warning to the matter, because this is ultimately his life's fate to call an end to the heresy.

Draka being interrogated by Jolenta for burning the book, clearly that book has a lot of worth, but with it gone, the latter is forced to improvise for the 30 years from the time she's dicovered the cosmos at age 9, and thereby, heliocentrism and the reality of the cruel world itself. And to find people similar to her (which is the rare lot), Jolenta is clearly in a state if suppression to overthrow the world's logic and give people the freedom to their beliefs, for which the Church has oppressed that freedom. What's important now is to spread the word (for Jolenta), and make some money in the process (for Draka), plus reunite with the old friends who've made their mark.

Conviction can only bring you so far, and wander to know what's right.

Jolenta really going up places in the world. From losing the tooth to becoming the head of the revolutionaries, the world really comes full circle with some stuff.

Knowledge is her everything 😔 and so what she values most went up in smoke for a cash grab.

It felt like that Jolenta was Draka's mentor.

Nowak still doesn't accept that he's wrong, maybe his eyes will open when he'll encounter her daughter, Jolenta again.

It seems like we have a rat in here, that other dude with Schmitt seemed shady when asking for there final destination. But really can be, for these characters just like the once who can before them.

I almost never get to just relish every line being spoken in an anime.

"The passion that run underneath these assumptions... can produce beautiful accomplishments or grotesque tragedies."
"How do you know you're not producing tragedy?"
"Because I believe freedom lies at my destination."
"How do you define freedom?"
"The ability to ask that."

Just riveting stuff.

This episode was a pure masterpiece. Jolenta is back and it seems that she and her father will be in a great confrontation in the future.

"How do you define freedom?"

"The ability to ask that."

That dialouges are so iconic and gave me goosebumps. Jolenta had a massive character development throughout the show. From being a timid girl to an amazing woman she is right now.

Lastly, I hope Draka will not regret her conviction for being obsessed with money.

Wow Nowak is here!! I don't know how old he is but he seems too depressed after Jolenta "death" and he's going to investigate against her group.. I need to see his reaction when he'll realize she isn't dead and is 39 years old now.

Anyway now Draka told everything to Jolenta and they managed to rewrite the whole book...

nowak jumping to conclusions feels silly writing.
loose connection to reality and deliberate huge inaccuracy of actual history turned me off so much.
why did you choose this setting if you want to change the real development this much!
i dont like the writing.

art and music is good, but it still doesn't add up to 8.7 score.

Nowak matched up against his daughter again lol. I'm guessing that one of them would die during their encounter.

Their plan was going so smoothly until Nowak was involved. Nowak's keen intuition is a huge hindrance for the heretic liberation camp.

I think this is my favorite episode so far, it really shined light on the past, present and what lies ahead
didn't think much when Jolenta reappeared after all these years but I am glad with her stance on things, she kept going and carried all those people efforts and deaths

It was reassuring to know her outlook, things now will get complex and heading toward some sort of resolve -I hope-

Still don't know what Draka addition is doing here though lol

Oh yeah Nowak didn't knew Jolenta was still alive.
I can't wait when they reunited again, this is going to be a tragic one.
