I'd say it was something new and exiting, becouse i started watching when i was around 7-8. Then 2 years ago i started watching again and i felt refreshed, like it filled an empty space, that was inside me for so long. :)

Tbh when I first watched anime I was in middle school and I hated it with such a passion. I never understood the point in its plot and it never really did hook me. It took me about 2 or 3 years to finally give anime anothere chance again and now it's that I have came to love. ^-^

Well, actually I would watch Pokémon (and a series whose name I don't remember) when I was little and didn't really know that what I was watching was anime.

So my first fully aware contact with anime was about 2-2,5 years ago when I watched Noir. My reaction was basically: Oh... My... Goodness... This is awesome!. Then I watched Kyoukai no Kanata (airing back then) which absolutely blew my mind. It still is one of my favourite anime series up to date :)

The first anime was either chobits or air. I'm not sure about that anymore. But I remember that I didn't really understand what was going on and didn't even realize that chobits is an ecchi anime. :x (it was about 10 years ago!)
I liked both of them anyway and then continued watching anime like clannad or zombie-loan
So it wasn't really "awesome" but it was just what I needed and fun.

My first anime was " Romeo x Juliet". Somehow, I felt like it was a bad choice, because I cried a lot when it ended. It was a little less than a year ago, so I guess I remember a lot. I watched the play, so I thought it would be something like it. And, God I was wrong. I was like " there weren't flying horses in the play". But I loved it and thought it was the best thing in the world. So, I decided to watch more anime like it.

my first anime was Sailor Moon, I watched it when I was in kindergarten w/o even knowing it had a specific genre for such "cartoons". then I was recommended to watch PMMM by my good friend at ~2013 and that's when my anime journey began.
PMMM became one of my all-time favourite anime and I craved to see more of something like that. but instead I explored different genres and through different anime I fell inlove with that specific style of "cartoon" (aka anime).
after that I read some comments and found out that anime are adapted from manga (not all of them, I know that), so I was interested in that too and here I am lol

The first 'real' anime i watched (so not something like pokemon or yu-gi-oh when i was a kid) was Angel Beats! :) a friend of mine wanted me to see it, even though I was reluctant at first... We ended up bingewatching the whole anime and I've been hooked ever since :)

The first 'real' anime watched was Fairy Tail. I had seen stuff like pokemon before, but it wasn't until I heard someone mention Fairy Tail that I decided to look into it. I thought it was sort of strange at first, but I secretly enjoyed it. And thus I had my first experiences of fan-girling and shipping, and here I am now.

Well I watched anime since I was around 3 or 4 on TV then around 7 I started watching it online and I stumbled across things that a normal 7 year old would never see...

I think thats why I am so mature for my age.
Or maybe the people around me are all just idiots.

Hmm I basically had "2 first" times... the literal one when I had no idea what "Anime" was... which is when I saw "Heidi: Girl of the Alps" on television. When I was like 6 or 7 years old or something... (which reminds me I have to add it to my list xD)

And Second... in 1998, the time when I knew that anime was "animation from japan" the anime in question was "Tenchi Muyo! - Universe" and I loved it! I was Literally glued at the TV.

After that... it was a chain reaction whenever I saw a series that was "from japan". I started watching other things on TV at the time like Saint Seiya and Sailor Moon. Rented VHS tapes with series and movies like Ninja Scroll, Dominion Tank Police, Galaxy Express 999... and many many more.
Then along came dragon ball on tv and the anime "genre" basically exploded in Portugal! but I digress... Anyway those were the 2 first animes I saw! ^^;

My first time I saw anime was when I was talking with a friend and he was watching anime and he told me to watch Shingeki no Kyojin. I watched 3 episodes of it and I kinda liked it. Then the next day I watched some more until I had finished it and after that I started watching more and more anime.

I actually was introduced to anime when I was really young....maybe grade 2. But back then I thought that it was like any other cartoon. I only picked it up in year 7 and boy had I wished I'd done it sooner!

This is my third time (and longest period of) being into anime..

The first phase was in elementary school, before I knew that it was Japanese, but I could tell there was something different about it. I watched Sailor Moon, a couple Ghibli films, a little Yu-gi-oh, a few episodes of Pokemon, typical Western kids anime XD

Second phase was 7th grade, I read an American novel about anerdy girl and she was into manga and anime, so I went out and bought my first manga, read manga online, and my friend said, "Why don't you just watch it instead of read?" XD)))
At the time I was really just into shoujo-type stuff, ex: Ouran Host Club, Vampire Knight, etc. My interest in anime was like a fireworks show, bright and burning, but shortly fizzled out.

This time started with a bang after watching AOT (don't judge omg), for a while I thought nothing was better than AOT, I thought Isayama was the god of creative genius or something XD

Card Album!

When I was around 10 I was subscribed to Jump magazine. It was serialized of course and I missed some issues of the magazine. So I never really had a chance to grasp the plots -- it was just cool to me.

Then I found something called "the Internet!" Various streaming sites were available and I chose my first anime to watch while slacking off on a summer assignment. It was Rosario to Vampire. I really liked that harem-like romance, but I wanted more romance. I started watching ToraDora and I'm glad to say it was one of my first.

An extra note I wanted to add is that The cool thing about becoming a "seasoned Otaku" is that you can see the tropes and cliches and analyze the anime you watch and the manga you read.

Keep watching, guys!

The first time I watched anime I tought it was just a normal cartoon. I must have been like 5 and I watched Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto. Then my brother got into anime and I watched part of Death Note with him.
Later I just happened to remeber about anime and I decided to check it out. So glad I had nothing to do in class that day LOL

My first anime experience was either shaman king, naruto, bo-bobo-bobobo-bo (error: can't write this title properly), pokemon or duel master, they were all airing at the time in my country. I didnt know back then what anime was but I enjoyed those shows (as every kid I guess).

Some time later my parents showed me spirited away and neko no ongaeshi. Again, I didn't feel the difference between western shows and this (side note: both neko no onagaeshi and spirited away I watched with subs as a kid which was bit frustrating).

But after 4-6 years I watched a top 10 anime at watchmojo (I didnt really like both otaku and anime at the time, I was just bored) and I saw spirited away on the list which made me recall this movie, I watched it and then I started to watch all the ghibli movies, but still I was like: "nah, anime? Trash, I prefer movies and western cartoons".
But after a month I really got into it. But still, I don't consider myself as an otaku and I don't want to be considered as one.

I technically grew up watching anime, but it was the mainstream ones like Yu-Gi-Oh!, DBZ, Bleach, and I never really thought much about it. The first anime I actually watched was Tokyo Mew Mew. I thought it was so cute, and it opened me up to the world of anime. Now I'm blossoming garbage (':

I really can't remember the first time i watched anime, grew up watching it and it's been a part of my life since. I guess it all started because of my brother (he's older than me and used to watch Saint Seiya, Captain Tsubasa, Slam Dunk..) and my cousin who is a Sailor moon fan (she introduced me into CLAMP too) and yeah, i took it from then on. I think the first anime that i actively followed was Card Captor Sakura, used to buy the manga a long time ago, coloring books and even stickers, i'm sure i still have my Clow Book somewhere around my parents house.

Well the Weebs in middle school had mad me hate anime with a passion. Then while browsing on Netflix a few weeks into 9th grade I came across (wait for it) ... Rosario Vampire. I don't know why or how but I felt like I got bitchslapped after all the hate I had gained I middle school. I watched the whole series then and there until 5 in the morning. The next night it was Capu 2 (Keep in mind this is my first not Pokemon anime so I didn't have anything to compare it to, besides the manga eventually helped me realise just how discusting that crapstain was). After wolfing that down my eyeholes it was time for Sora no Otoshimono. Then Zero no Tsukaima. And here I am nearly 3/4 a year later writing this at 4:20 am. It's safe to say I caught the weeb fever.
