Hello :)

Do you think this manga will ever get an anime adaptation? I really am a big fan of the overall series, Different Story is my favorite spin off.

Even if you don't think this will get an anime adaptation, do you think maybe one of the other spin off manga's might?

If Different Story doesn't get an adaptation I do hope Puella Magi Oriko Magia, Suzune Magia or Homura's Revenge gets one instead. :)

Please let me know what you think!

I hope not but since this series is bringing all the money they'll most likely do some sequel, spin-off or whatever.

If any of the manga were to be animated I'd hope it would be The Different Story. It's the only spin-off of the series that I've really considered to be worth a cemented spot in the canon.

I'd be cool with just the Drama CD the Prequel portion is based on getting remade with the Dub cast.

I hope an adaptation comes out before the movie if only to get people talking about Madoka Magica again. Mami and Kyoko are due for some character development as well.

I actually love this manga much more than the anime itself because this manga didn't feel rushed and forced at all. We get to see the trio (Mami, Kyouko and Sayaka) develop a lot in this manga more than the anime. Mami is no longer a head joke generator, Kyouko doesn't exist solely for the shitty KyouSaya moments and Sayaka not being bitchy like the anime version with Kyousuke and Hitomi being much more likeable here.

Volume 1 is based off the Drama CD and takes place before the series, so there's a good chance it's already canon. Not to mention, Kyoko's previous relationship with Mami is hinted at quite a few times in the show.

Anime adaptation would be great, I just finished rereading this manga. I would like to see the Wraith arc, too, as it would be interquel between original series and Rebellion. As for the 4th movie, I can´t see that coming, for me the story is closed.

If you don't mind me asking, what was so bitchy about Sayaka in the anime? I thought she got a good amount of development there, especially if you add the rebellion movie too.

I do agree that Different Story is amazing, and give most of the characters more depth and development. I kinda wish there was a remake of the anime; with around 40-50 episodes. So they can fix the pacing, give the cast more depth with longer backstories, more build-up to their development, and expand on the world-building.

I loved Sayaka's character myself, but when these scenes exist it's not surprising to see that others think that she's mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rfc3W9KVdBs

Honestly, I would prefer for this to have gotten adapted instead of Magia Record

I feel like that's more on the arrogant side instead of bitchy, because Sayaka doesn't have the benefit of knowing how things play out on multiple timelines. It's basically the same situation when some characters act all rude or gives the cold shoulder to Subaru from Re:Zero. They simply don't know the truth like Homura/Subaru and the audience does. Iirc I heard from somebody that Urobuchi stated that Godoka showed Sayaka all the past timelines and all the times she died. That's one of the biggest reason why Sayaka was more understanding and mature in the Rebellion movie, because she knows the whole truth now.

Yeah, I totally agree, Sayaka tends to overthink and jump to conclusions quickly, but once she understands the truth she always tries her best to help out

On the eve of Movie 4 being delayed to an unknown date, I began thinking about the series overall in retrospect. And I think it would have been better if we got a second season instead of Magia Record, which would cover The Different Story as an arc as well as Wraith Arc. This hypothetical season would be required watching after the Rebellion movie, and since both Kyouko and Mami have standout roles in both arcs, it would have been a nice way of developing their depth and relationship with each other and the other girls across the pre-LoC and post-LoC timelines. It would have also retroactively bridged the gap between the end of the first season and Rebellion by explaining how Homura ended up in that position. I've always felt the underlying material in those two manga arcs were much stronger than Magia Record for the simple reason that they were not stretched out across a massive ensemble cast, many of which are original characters needing introduction, but rather focused on fleshing out the beloved main cast with interesting interpersonal conflicts. And Madoka is at its strongest when focusing on its characters.

Unfortunately, SHAFT needed money, and what better way to do it than to copy Fate's shiny new gacha back in 2015?
