| It's not over rated, it's just a different type of story with same MC. A heart-warming slice of life with comedy (Barakamon), and a comedy that take slice of life as its setting (Handa-kun). |

| Handa-kun is funny but not as much as Barakamon. The problem with Handa-kun is that it's repetitive. At some point, you know what will happen and it becomes really boring. |

| Handa-Kun is one of the funniest anime I've seen personally, whereas Barakamon I don't think even got a single laugh out of me. But Barakamon in my eyes was a cute feel good Slice Of Life about its characters, not a comedy. So it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. |

I can understand someone finding it repetitive or hating "torture comedy" (I generally hate that sort of comedy too) but personally I just found this to be pretty hilarious simple as that. Those more into typical anime humor though probably would not find this show as funny. I generally hate anime humor though (not a fan of slapstick, puns, or ecchi) so I like shows that don't follow the usual Japanese style of humor. |
