That Koyama-san is sure so tactless >_< looks like her daughter is better at reading the atmosphere than her.
I wonder if Utsumi had feelings for her before.
I am a bit confused about Utsumi..so does that mean he used to be a girl? a lesbian? did he had a sex change?

Obviously, he's trans.

Yep, looks like it. The "disability" line confused me a bit but I guess that's just how I see them...that being a Lesbian or Gay is a disability.

I do you hope realize that's the whole reason why everyone was so offended. Being LGBTQ+ is not a disability.

I do not think that was the reason why they were offended because the atmosphere in the room was already heavy even before she started to talk about it. And, I do not really think that they were all that offended since they already knew that most people don't see LGBT in a good light.

Utsumi's friends were already annoyed at her even before she talked about Utsumi's "disability" - the way I see it, they were annoyed at her because of how tactless she is, the way she keep talking about Utsumi's past in front of everyone - which is rude. So after trying their best to hide their annoyance, what she said was just like the final blow that made Utsumi's friend snapped.

Yes, I agree that it was the final blow.

Lord, Koyama is irritating. I can't hate her because it's clear she's trying to be nice, but she's just so clueless about everything...

Tsubaki continues to be an enigma to me. I don't understand what's going on in that boy's head at all. His behaviour last chapter made me so uneasy.
90s J-rock was our aesthetic peak.

Was mildly cringing throughout the chapter whenever Koyama is around, but hope she knows better.

I'm surprised Utsumi was so patient with that deadnaming gal

It's good she has left in the end...

Couldn't they just throw her out or explain things to her instead of avoiding conflict though. I understand silence when you don't want to out yourself but in this case she clearly knew he's trans

Koyama doesn't mean any harm, but she has no idea how others feel when she says certain things. Maybe someone will let her know that someday. The "Fist" in the plaster was definitely a work of art, lol.

god damn i wish anoymous would just ban her from coming back altogether ohmyfuckingGOD the audacity tho to continuously insult and dead name Utsumi throughout this chapter had me so fucking MAD AND no one called her the fuck OUT?! At least it seems her spawn actually has an IQ higher than - 43 to realize her mom is an embarrassment and actually a brain dead ass

Not sure if Koyama doesn't mean harm. She comes across like the kind of person who doesn't want to accept others in earnest. She puts on a nice persona, but in reality is looking down on those who don't fit her standards. She wants Utsumi to act like "one of the girls", to hang out as if they'd all accept him, when she herself doesn't accept him — there's really no excuse to call Utsumi "Natsumi", because she did hear everyone else refer to him as "Utsumi", but she does it anyway because she wants to do things her way rather than meeting others halfway (which ties into the pushiness of having Utsumi at the reunion, despite his gentle attempts at deflecting).

You can also see that something is off when she tries to get her daughter to make a flower instead of a boat out of tiles, because a flower is "cuter". I.e. something more traditionally feminine, while boats are, in her view, something only boys would/should like. And you can see that the daughter is uneasy about it and concedes, which probably means that it isn't the first time she has had to change her interests for the sake of her mother.

In the end, Koyama pities Utsumi because she thinks he has a "disorder", as if he's delusional or disabled and she is gracious for "playing along with it". I wouldn't be surprised if she was eager for him to come to the reunion only so that she can parade him around and show how good of a person she is by being kind to him "in spite of his disorder".

Damn that was tense, it was a very realistic depiction of day to day unintentional but harmful transphobia. I relate to Daichi so much in these situations
