Well the visuals are definitely pretty bad but I am a little interested in the story and the characters. Hopefully this will turn out to be a pretty fun watch if nothing else.

The Disney and other Saturday Morning cartoon influences are easy to see. They even made fun of Little Red Riding Hood. lol. It's obvious that this anime inspired Utena and Rose of Versailles.

I am just watching this because it's an anime that said to have started the shōjo genre and directly influened Rose of Versaille, the anime I will watch after I finish this.

As noted by some, it was groundbreaking for its time, but it's not a must-see.

Its use of musics reminds me of old-school western cartoons rather than an anime. If not for the gender-bending themes as well as the anime eyes of Sapphire and the angel, this is no different to other Western cartoons during that time.

I don't know if it was shown in the Philipines or if I ever saw it disguised as a cartoon. But looking at the character design, it looks really familiar.

Princess knight, an anime I wanted to watch since I knew about its existence like four years ago but never watched it before because it was hard to find, I wanted to watch it in the Spanish dub but is partially lost media, I also wanted to watch it in the original language with subtitles but is completely unavailable so I'm watching the English version and I don't know if it has any kind of censorship or that stuff but is the best I could find. I also wanted to watch it because is a piece of history, one of the first animes, the first shojo and the oldest anime I've watched, also because it was predecessor of stories like Rose of Versailles and Utena, these three are like the josei trinity hahaha, I have watched those before so is also to complete the trilogy.
As first impressions, the ost, the sfx, the artstyle, the animation and even the dub are so western, I feel like watching a Disney movie and this tells many things about the history of anime.
About the plot, a girl who has to dress as a boy for the throne. There is those guys who will be the main villains I think and the princess has to hide the fact that she is a girl, is like the constant of this show. I noticed many animation errors and weird takes and angles and also wtf? That horse just climbed the wall? And a wolf who doesn't attack girls, obviously a parody of Little Red Riding Hood but everything is pretty strange and the conflict was solved very fast. It looks like isn't going to be a deep story but episodical adventures of the princess in different situations. If you see it as an episodic comedy series it can be good but if you are looking for something serious is going to be disappointing. By the way Choppy's main goal is make the princess behave like a girl right? Another constant of this show I guess.
