This was a tough one. I guess the anime really wanted to highlight the difficulty of the spy life and their missions, especially when assigned with a difficult task.

Being a spy isn't easy and I think Lily is learning that the hard way, whether she likes it or not.

Tomoshibi infiltrated the kingdom to complete the mission impossible, but wellhh it really wasn't easy. Even though they got into trouble, they managed to complete it. Also, is this classroom finished with only 3 episodes?

Ah yes, let's play rock paper scissors in the middle of this impossible mission that is so dark and crule that we can all die within moments. Speaking of mission, it went as you'd expect ... as, not good and the team got captured, thankfully .. teacher-kun saves the day. Teacher, and the pocket loli that was hidden all this time.

And now what.

Finally, my Erna has appeared in the anime
She was there from the start. She has stayed with everyone since the first episode. If you rewatch the first two episodes carefully, you will see some glimpses of her in the episode or clues that lead to her existence.

At this rate, the anime will end at the 4th volume of a light novel which in my opinion it is the best point to end the cour.

Colour me surprised something even fazed our girls, though guess it tells they still green but hey we've a problem there too.. even them getting this beat up was all part of that grand scheme our Aizen incarnate weaved.

Complete defeat for traitor-san, mission accomplished and... please spare me the twist, was alredy getting kinda tired pretending there were only seven of them.

Lamplight's first Mission Impossible debut, they'd better get it right the first time as Klaus operates on his own, both sides' objective to retrieve the bioweapon killer virus Abyss Doll before the Empire has any use of it. Immediately, the spy that the girls faced was indeed Guido a.k.a Blue Fly from Inferno. And because of the wiretap in the previous episode, testing their mettle on a 7 vs. 1 fight that quickly becomes one-sided towards the Empire.

Ultimately, this is a cat-and-mouse psychological battle which Klaus has determined Lamplight to be a diversion, knowing that he cannot beat the former member turned traitor. The set of Communal Living Rules which he implemented from Day 1, it was just karma waiting for enemies alike, especially with Flower Garden Lily and the rest awaiting their moment of attack. The 8th girl Erna, codename Fool, she was the surprise character that came late, but disguised herself so well that she's the hidden Ace in the Hole. But even that wasn't enough to faze Guido, as both the Idiot Pupil and mentor faced each other while Lamplight secures the objective, retreats back to Din Republic and disbands thereafter.

Guido may have sacrificed his life for Klaus taking the shot, but the 8 girls of Lamplight also aren't going anywhere either, in Heat Haze Palace.
May this be Lamplight's prologue into something greater.

You missed the moment when Klaus entered the building in ep. 2 and the girls were shown hiding as groups. Ernas hand was also seen when.

Great forensic work, I totally missed the 8th girl in the 1st couple of episodes.

It looks like this may have been a prologue with a few twists in this 3rd episode. I hope we get to know the girls on a more individual bases as now there are 8 and we still don't have much info on them.

Pacing is so fast that it’s honestly hard to even get into the story or care about what should be emotional moments like Guido betrayal and sacrifice . When it was revealed he set up inferno it was just “meh, ok anyway”. Erna reveal was cool, but I hope they slow down going forward.

this whole anime seems super rushed, and this episode especially just felt like they skipped a bunch of important things and just crammed as many surprises as they could in 20 minutes. would've much preferred more episodes with more information given than 12 rushed episodes, which is what it seems like this is going to be-and what it has been thus far.

It was a joke of an episode. An infiltration with guns without silencer ? Dude running all around the place, not even closing the doors behind him ? Wanting to stop chemical warfare with one of the girl using them ? "You slowed me down by a tenth of a second" oh dang it, if only the main character was like only a tenth of a second slower as specifically premised 10 minutes earlier....
Oh and, even if you betrayed your team and killed all of them that I considered family, let's forget about it and be together again as if it never happened hahaha

No but seriously, so many wrong things in this episode, how can you fail that bad in 2023 ?

Very good arch conclusion, with everyone playing their parts perfectly and completing the mission with everyone getting home.

I also liked the end of the episode.

Only 3 episode, and I think it’s one of the best anime of the season.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Now yes, this episode was very good; I personally thought that the "mission impossible" would be the central plot of the entire anime, but no, it only lasted 3 episodes and it's perfect.
Now I am interested in what is going to happen, maybe they are going to try to find the one who killed the "mentor" of the protagonist.

So that concludes volume 1, honestly I haven't seen an adaptation adapt the source material this fast before.

Erna was finally introduced, and yet again no OP or ED, I assume this was because they were waiting to introduce Erna first so they could show the OP and ED.

I guess by intentionally trying to fail. No idea why the producers would do that, tho. Rushed adaptations of average Isekais are better then this, and that's saying a lot.

About as expected. Saw Guido coming the moment Klaus mentioned never having won against him in the previous episode, and saw Klaus coming to end it the moment Guido mentioned being a tenth of a second slower - the exact time Klaus mentioned him being faster earlier. The only real surprise was the rest of Guido's team not defecting with him, but I was probably too influenced by The Old Republic in my thinking there.

You could complain about the technicalities all day, especially in girls' fight with Guido. But it doesn't matter. Only sad people like me will choose to watch Spy Classroom and decide to pick it apart. Just enjoy it (if you can) for what it is.

One thing that DID really bug me though was when Guido got shot by the sniper. He saves Klaus' life, but then what does Klaus do? OH NO MASTER NOOOOOO *remains out in the open in full view of the sniper*.... sigh. I'll give it a pass if other anime characters do this, but for someone with the title of "the world's greatest spy", this is just me, but I think the smart thing is to dive for cover. Maybe he was super super super confident that he himself wasn't a target of the sniper. Or maybe losing his master was so detrimental to his spirit that he didn't mind dying as well. But again, I feel like "the world's greatest spy" would be so emotionally swayed... dangit I'm reading too much into it again. You're not supposed to read too much into it.

They completed the very difficult impossible mission, they saved the day and everyone survived, yay!

The plot twist was both exciting and unexpected. I love the concept of the show as is, but the fact that there was a character present in the show that was hidden from both the antagonists of the show and the viewer was really intriguing in my opinion. looking back on the other two episodes you can find little easter eggs hiding the character and foreshadowing to the reveal of an eighth spy.

I felt like that was incredibly quick, i mean the impossible mission is done within 3 episodes which i did not expect, but still the episode was good and I did not expect so many things that were mentioned, like the betrayal, the eight member, etc.

Nice to see Lamplight still being a thing, I had a feeling that they weren't going back to their academy's after what just happened. Ain't now way their throwing all that bonding away to join another spy team with randoms.

Lets see what missions they do next :)

Wow. To put it bluntly, this was an absolute joke of an episode. The pacing was just one of the glaring issues seen this time around, and the contrivance after contrivance was just painful to sit through. Erna showing up out of nowhere was such a weird sequence, and wow, no one saw that twist coming. Yeah, that's not how you do twists. I know you see Erna just sneakily placed in shots from Episode 1 and 2, but really? The setting of this show seems like an unforgiving, dark one, but there's so much random unfunny comedy, like playing Rock Paper Scissors when you're literally in a battlefield. This whole hyped up "impossible mission" ended up being so anticlimactic, as it was trick after trick from both sides, and if they were going for shock value, boy, I wasn't that shocked. The over-explaining on the battlefield is also a common gripe I have with shows, because who waits for the other to finish talking before attacking?

There are so many other issues with this episode, but I won't bother to talk about this in any more detail. Very frustrating because this show had way more potential than this.

the mission impossible like music was actually so distracting, i couldn't pay attention to the dialogue.

so there's an eighth member, she was actually hinted at a couple times in the last episode, so i rate it. i like erna's design.

didn't expect the sensei to stab that chick in the neck tho tbh. thought he was just gonna knock her out.

So, is the fight in this episode in contention for worst of all time? Most bad fights are just boring or maybe even funny but this one was so frustrating. Use your fucking guns you stupid bastards. He's RIGHT there, why are you pulling out knives or using your fists? I could have beaten that guy. Spend 5 minutes at a shooting range instead of a month at mansion and maybe you won't have such difficulty. And in the end when the guy got sniped (wow look how useful guns are) our fucking genius spy just sits there and keeps talking?!? Dude just died for you to escape the sniper but you just fucking sat there. What if they shot again? For that matter why didn't they shoot again? Why did they ankle cuff the guy and not just shoot his ankles? Why did they use wires when they could have just shot him? Why did they only stab him once in a non vital organ and then just assume he was taken care of and drop their guard. Why didn't the bad guy actually kill a few of them? Why did the guys that cornered klaus not just shoot him first and ask questions second like he said they would? Why a lot of things. This was so frustrating. My first drop of the season. I'm mad it took me 3 episodes to get out.

By the standards of the series this chapter was fine, the eighth member thing didn't seem bad to me since at no time did they talk in detail about the girls and that's why the fact that there is one more doesn't seem bad to me but it is quite convenient , a better way to do it would be if they had given us indications that they had an ace up their sleeve so that the revelation would have been better but hey, at least it wasn't bad, I also see something strange that nobody has even gotten a half scar on one supposed impossible mission XD, but in a certain way the lack of detail in the story and the little information about the impossible missions do not make it look so bad but it is still quite strange and remains like a half script

Is this supposed to be the super mega ultra deadly complicated mission impossible? If this is impossible, the other missions must be child's play, because for some failures to have trained for just one month in an unknown way and have been able to complete an impossible mission, then the rest must already be a walk in the park, nor It wasn't even seen that Klaus had things so difficult, he just placed some traps and that's it,

I don't think the fact that "they underestimated them" is enough

very underwhelming end. Even just 1 or 2 episodes more could've added more breadth to this first arc, but unfortunately the anime didn't seem to bother. In 1 episode, we saw the beginning of the infiltration (leading up to the Guido fight only took like 3 minutes), conclusion of said fight, introduced a possible next storyline, and concluded the first storyline.

While i haven't read the other volumes past this point, i just can't see how better the story can become. it's painfully average...
