I enjoyed this anime, but the last few episodes were not the best because how slow everything is going. It felt like eternity. Aren't they overdid this sad arc a little bit? or only me thinks that.

A decent episode this time around, great that Haru and Akine had their moment together to confide in one another. The drama, I will say, was a bit overdone, but had its good moments. Again, the studio is trying very hard to make it look half decent, and props to them for that. I really wish there was some original music to be found here, but it is what it is.

It’s not bad but, usually I feel sad with that kind of scenes but with this one, something was missing, a better ost and better seiyuu?

oh man, the animation is getting worse every episode. the fact that they use CG animation for the music scenes also doesn't help. I've heard that the manga was so good it received awards and all, but this adaptation doesn't seem to be up to the original source

It's frustrating when they show bullying in japan, it just portrait how useless are teachers and everybody around when it happens.

That second year in the violin, chika, has two strikes and be soon in my shit list. How can she be intimidated by a first year looking at the side ignoring the problem?, someone so useless should not be leading no matter who good you are in the violin.

Read the manga, it follows the manga, and what do you mean by getting worse?? Do you want me to fix your eye or something?

before suggesting me to fix my eye, you should at least watch as much anime as I did so you perhaps begin to realize when an animation gets worse. but wait, your account isn't even two months old, so I might be wasting my time talking to a bot? shame on me then

didn't really like this episode. don't know if it was because it was slow and not super interesting, or if it's just because i don't really like haru's character in the first place so i don't care much about her, but the episode didn't really do much to me. ot was obviously supposed to be pulling at heartstrings, but it wasn't sad. hoping next episode we move away from whatever this small, sad/flashback arc was and get back to the actual story

Not gonna lie, but I felt a little bored during some parts of this episode.
On the other hand, it is refreshing to see a show takes its time with the pacing and with its characters building.

So we have our Rimi-rin from Bang Dream Haru....in looks and personality, and a love for horror movies...continuing her depressed, woe is me arc.
(Unlike Rimi-rin who becomes more confident)

Well, ackshually, I liked this episode.

Good VA...i think they enjoyed themselves. Good direction and composition, good use of the OST.
The slow pace seems to go with the low mood feeling.

Akane would make a horrible therapist. Dont ever become one, Akane.

Very loyal to the manga.

Bullying can be quite nasty...damm.

And the clueless guy friends, as so also happens, eh?

To be quite frank, I'm not feeling this anime.
I love anime of the music genre, but Ao no Orchestra is just not working for me

That was the first thing.
The second is something that might be offensive to a few people.

I feel like the concept of bullying is over-used in animanga. Most SoL related to high school has at least 1 character who is bullied.
Believe me, no way am I  undermining the experience and trauma caused by bullying, and I am also aware that it is extremely common all over the world.

Before watching Ao no Orchestra, this thought never came to me. But watching this episode was extremely annoying.
When it comes to bullying, it is a very sensitive thing, however, if it is properly executed in any medium, I'll be crying a river.
But in this episode, I truly felt nothing (I am an extremely emotional person who cries very easily), and I think this topic was just added to the manga to have the audience sympathize and get attached to the characters.
Unfortunately, it failed to do so (at least in my case). On the contrary I feel they desperately tried to make a huge impression.

I might drop it if it doesn't get any better in the next episode. If it had 12-13 episodes, I would have finished it... But I don't think I can bear with it throughout 24 episodes.

Man fuck bullies. Ricchan and Haru’s backstory was really sad. It’s good that they had this heart to heart and now know how each other really feel. I love haru’s seiyuu, she sounds so natural and down to earth. It made the flashbacks that much more painful. Everyone needs a friend like Ritsuko, though. Sticking up for Haru even after she left the school was some real shit.

@sinnerNoWinner thanks for the worry, I had IRL events going on, so wasn't able to tune to last week's episode.

As expected, Akine is worried about Haru from her bullying incident in middle school, and yet her mother is left in the dark about this, because Haru didn't tell her. But it's more like she kept the incident to herself, being afraid of opening up and frighteningly enough, take advantage of Akine's good graces. What's worse is that the concert auditions are coming soon, and Shizuka continues to find fault with Akine, her thoughts constantly filled with Haru in mind. The girl who is constantly tired of staying at home and not wanting to go to school, goes out at night to a convenience store to get some food...and it just so happens that Akine was on her way to her house.

Instead of asking Haru about school, Akine disperses her conversation to the former's life and interests, which brings her curse again. Turns out, Haru's bullying was caused by Akine herself when she recklessly forced her hand onto the bullies, which in turn, forced Haru to suck in her guilt and take it as it is. And even after Haru transferred out, that became Akine's downfall as well thanks to the behavioral change in wanting to get revenge for Haru. It was like retribution for Haru for all the trouble she caused Akine, but still, the latter wants to be her friend, that from then until now, is like a life support vessel between the two.

Glad to see both Akine and Haru make up for their past faults, and start anew. A hard episode of truths between two aligned friends.

Ya know what?
I really don't think it wouldn't have progressed to the point that Haru bailed if Akine had done nothing; it may have been accelerated due to the queen bitch being pissed at Akine interfering, but she and her toadies were going to keep right on pushing and pushing until Haru broke or someone in authority took steps that they couldn't deflect...and it's difficult to document bullying if no one will cooperate because they don't want to get involved.

And the same damn shit is going down within the orchestra club, since no one is confronting the girl who is dishing it out time after time.
Some of that I can understand.
What actual authority do they have to take action?
If you do attempt to do something, will the folks who do have authority back you up...when no one steps forward to support your allegations?

The stuff goes down when no teachers are present, or the teacher doesn't want to get involved.
If you take action without having sufficient documentation you'll be the one paying for it when the parents and their lawyers get involved.
...and even if you do have adequate documentation, it still might spell the end of your career; what normally happens to whistleblowers?
The same shit happens in the workplace.

In this case a "5" doesn't mean "I loved it" but rather that it was very well done.
Because I didn't love it.

I absolutely agree with you. They have given up on animating proper fingering. The CGI models look like cheap Genshin characters. Despite Haru’s playing not being CGI, no fingering was implemented. As a violinist I am in pain.

What a strange episode... I think it's good? But I don't like it as much as I would've expected.

The creators are spending time and effort to flesh out the characters, in terms of their backstories, their relationship dynamic, their motivations for doing music, etc. Their actions and feelings are understandable and believable. The topic of bullying is handled with a decent amount of care, and the characters show some self-awareness about it. They are good girls that deserve to move on and be happy.

The voice acting is touching without being overly emotional. The art looks pleasant, and the music is beautiful.

Yet why don't I feel anything?

Maybe the writing for the monologues and conversations is a little too simplistic? Maybe it's because the issue is introduced and then resolved within the span of an episode (and a half)? Maybe the characters should have been fleshed out more, before jumping into their backstories? Maybe the characters were too simplistic to begin with? Maybe because the animation is a little too awkward and static to sell the drama (even if I got more used to it over time)? Maybe the music is not integrated that well into the story?

I wouldn't say any of these are serious problems for me. It's just frustrating to feel vaguely unhappy about a show and not being able to put my finger on why exactly.

I was looking forward to it before it started airing too. Shame I won't be continuing...

Blue Orchestra's eighth episode concludes the series with a captivating and emotionally rich finale. With exceptional storytelling, stunning visuals, and remarkable performances, this installment leaves a lasting impression. It is a testament to the transformative power of music and serves as a fitting conclusion to the extraordinary journey of the characters.

I've seen many pessimistic characters but damn Haru's a bit too much. She has no backbone at all. This episode felt a bit too much with the drama, kind of overdid it. Anyway nice moment between the two at the end there, hope she gains some backbone after this.
