MC is basically one single soul who mastered heavenly demon divine arts.
There's essentially 3 personalities based on memories/abilities:
A: murim leader's son and orthodox martial arts.
B: demon cult leader's son and the lack of martial arts.
C: A's memories + B's body + heavenly demon divine arts (HDDA).
1. MC was born as murim leader's son and dies. He has no memories of past/future. This is A.
2. born as demon cult leader's son with ALL memories + HDDA. But a baby's body cannot handle all of this.
3. To survive, the baby defensively seals/splits off his personality into two: the new baby (personality B) and personality C with future memories + HDDA.
4. The new baby couldn't use martial arts because he sealed it off into C. He suffers due to lack of martial arts
5. C "talks to him" (leaks details) about future memories like how A wakes up in his body in the cave, makes friends and becomes cult leader. Technically, they are all the same soul, but due to the split, MC now thinks that A is a different person taking over his body in future after his death.
6. He tries to change the future by borrowing powers from C, but ends up setting up events that lead to that very future.
7. Realizes the truth later that they are all the same soul. Voluntarily sets up events for future like telling cult leader to go away and goes into cave to learn HDDA.
8. personality A takes over the body, but instead thinks that B died and A's soul was transferring over from murim leader's son. This is where the story starts in chapter 1.
9. After the fight with the secret villain and B's memories finally start flooding in. He realizes that future memories were sent to past, but he is still the murim leader's son who reincarnated as a baby of demon leader by traveling to past.
HDDA essentially uses "death" as trigger. So, first death in cave lets A take over, and second death in fight with secret villain merges A + B into C.
It all doesn't make a lot of sense, but we go with rule of cool and just suspend our disbelief.
