This season finale got the most romance shoujo episode possible.

Also, Serina really did become such a good friend for Uka. Happy that she is able to grow out of her timid self since the start of the series. Uka and Kai had their moment together one last time. Tears just came pouring down Uka's face like pouring rice. An emotional finale but well delivered imo. So much emotions all around.

Yeah, you know things are serious when we get that name drop... in the first minute of the FINAL episode. I mean, as if things weren't already serious after that cliffhanger last episode lol. Confession and kiss all in less than a minute. Yeah, Uka's not wrong for thinking it was a dream... Because on TOP of all that, SHE ALSO GOT A FUCKING LOVE LETTER??? Being someone who's still in the process of going through her first love, it'd make sense why she'd be confused and not know what to do.

Thankfully, while Serina is her rival, she's still willing to help out her fellow friend whenever she needs it. Uka's blessed to have friends like her now... truly. And it gives her the courage to ask Kai it once more... to which, this time, he's the one who say's it first.. "I like you". Those words, no matter what romance it is, will always make me kick my feet in the air. And Uka being embarrassed the day after when the meet.. yeah. But... somehow Uka thinks they aren't dating yet LOL. Don't worry though, because if Uka thought they weren't dating, well, now the whole school know that they ARE dating <3 And thus, ends the show like that.

Couldn't have asked for a better finale to finally solidify my final thoughts that, yeah, I loved this show from start to end. Few iffy episodes here and there, but the great ones overshadow them, by a lot. There was clearly production issues here, it's JC Staff we're talking about, if even their golden child, Danmachi, experienced the production issues of hell, this was gonna experience some as well. But if with those, there were episodes in this show that managed to do the most they could with the production issues, and those episodes were easily some of the greatest this season. Makes you think that with time, how much better this show really could've been. Not that, it wasn't great already.

Don't even get me started on that soundtrack as well.. actually godlike. Gives me major Silent Voice vibes, as well at the whole show gave me those vibes. Really hate the anti-shoujo bias on this website. It's unrealstic sometimes, yeah, but I mean, this is fiction, it dosen't have to realstic all the time.

Uka's true feelings from her heart to Miura, it's not a dream with her confession and his kiss.

Even the next day, Uka finding herself rejecting her own feelings towards Miura, as the others hear from Uka about her confession. But to think that she would receive a bouquet of flowers from the Senpais whom Kai tolerated, the love letter certainly was out of touch since she wasn't ready to date yet. Still, Uka thinking that she would be a liability to Kai, to which he has proven otherwise time and time again thanks to Kanna getting her point straight to her, though she still needs some time to process her feelings.

Miura meeting Uka privately to settle her feelings and make things clear of the 8 months that he has got to know and fall in love with her, Uka clearly is a girl in love whose feelings just want to shout out from her heart that she's dating him, which Kai can respond easily that he is, but that Uka still can't get that point across...until the morning assembly that finally, makes their relationship official.

Ending in the most traditional Shoujo way possible, only Honey Lemon Soda can pull this off. It's kind of trash Shoujo, but the good trash.

“Honey lemon soda, all that time I was searching for you” AHHHHHH. A CONFESSION AND KISS AND DATING??!! I won. I’m over here covering my face and blushing lol. This episode was a rapid fire burst of emotions, but you can’t ask for a better finale to a romance anime. They left nothing out and perfectly set us up to want to read more!! I’m going to miss Uka and Kai so much 😭

I’m so proud of Uka. It’s a night and day difference between her now and at the start of the show and the coolest part of this episode was that it was HER taking the initiative to change things in her life. For so long, she’s let things be dictated to her whether it was her dad or bullies or the world in general. She stood up for herself today and said forget waiting, I’m gonna get the guy of my dreams and I love that for her! That kiss is giving me so much life too 😩

Doubling down on the confession and then not being ok with the status quo, but directly asking Kai to go out with her was soooo cute. The animation during that scene was so good too. They really cooked up with the production values at the end here! Wish we could’ve started that way. F’s in the chat for Marin though lmao poor thing got rejected last week and then loses Kai for good this week. Tough

“Something is beginning” indeed! This is really just the start of Uka’s new life with Kai. So many things she’s missed out on because of her social anxiety and not having friends, and now she’ll get that chance to just be a normal high schooler. We will be reading for more!

I've been telling people for months that Kai is a problematic character but no one believe me. He has too much influence on Uka. His word is a double-edged sword. If Uka think of it in a positive way then yes, it'll help her life. But if she think of it in a negative way then she immediately fall into depression. And believe me when I said that this is not a coincident, Kai actually planning for this, it's his game. And he wins.

The anime ended with a bang.
And it ended with a relationship they way it's should.
I wonder how the couple will progress from here tho and i wonder if there will be another anime.
Guess i have to pick up the manga and see.

From a stone unnoticed by anyone to a gemstone precious enough for Kai to show off to the world. Couldn't have asked for a happier conclusion for Uka.

Also, I'm sorry, I don't even particularly dislike Marin but her dramatic post-"speech" breakdown cracked me up hard enough to almost overshadow the sweetness of the moment LOL

however boring the early episodes were, the last few episode were good and the finale too, I'm happy with how the whole confession spanned over the entire last episode and it wasn't just a single huge moment of fireworks etc.

Strange to say, but Uka sticking her head in the her locker was inexplicably cute.

Best girl Ayumi flipping out over Uka's romance was very cute.

"Ishimori, please date me. Everyone please refrain from talking during the assembly."
What a goddamn troll, LMAO, and tip o' the hat Bro.

Overall season:
Decent story, but not remarkable. Shy, bullied, depressed, frightened girl meet handsome, assholier than thou yet also kind, reserved boy. She has a lot of character development in a 3 steps forward 1 step back cycle of progress. He has a bit of character development. They fall in love and forthrightly confess.
Animation mid to mediocre.
Too much inner dialogue leaving not enough space for interaction and dialogue between characters.

I liked A Condition Called Love last year better.

And so we end with a beginning...of dating...made public in the flashiest way imaginable!!! XD

Damn, accidentally voted 5/5 instead of 4/5 as I meant to in the poll. Oh well. My thoughts on this show are pretty basic. On the whole it was nothing special, but it scratched that generic shoujo fluffy love itch well enough. For a bit there I thought it might rise above it and be something special, but then that father arc left a bad taste in my mouth and that was the end of that. But hey, sometimes you just want some standard genre junk food, ya know? And as I smiled during that over the top date request scene I knew full well my hunger had been fed, and adequately. 7/10

Also, that ending theme was pretty catchy, maybe a dark horse for Top 5 of the winter season. The animation to go with it was cute too, but Kai's licking upwards always felt so creepy to me. Maybe not as much as his actually smiling in that last scene though lol. Awww who am I kidding? It was cute. And I'd watch more if we got it, assuming there's more source material left of course.

What an amazing evolution of Uka: from being bullied, seen as a stone and too shy to express herself, to finally coming out of her shell. With Kai's arrival and Uka's own efforts, everything changed.

It was a great ending, with a kiss and both of them fully acknowledging their feelings. It may not be the best romance anime out there, but it still brought a few tears to my eyes. I hope it continues with another season.

This was a good wrap up to the show which served to finally bring Kai and Uka together. I think Kai properly confessing on stage was cute and very funny. Overall I think this show is very good it has a strong cast of characters but some pretty poor background characters but I mean that don't matter that much.

Definitely a lot left to be desired such as not getting really any real background on Kai, Not getting much on tomoya either. I think though Kai, Uka, Serina especially, Ayumi and somewhat Tomoya were all very good characters I just whish we got more depth to Kai and Tomoya.

I think comparing this to the anime "Say I love you" generally I think Say I love you done it better but in a sense I think Uka had a better representation of a character such as her.

Overall a good show but fell short in a few aspects 8/10

definetly got better as the show progressed, but i still feel strange rating this any higher than a 7.

I've been thinking a lot how I feel about this anime and I still haven't fully decided.
I think the reason is that I believe the story is excellent (8/10) but the presentation is awful (3/10).
It also doesn't help that there are two episodes, 6 and 11, that are truly 3/10 with how they presented the content they adapted.
On the other hand, many episodes are incredible, easy 8/10, and a typical episode is 6 to 7.
The best way I can think of to resolve this issue and decide on a score is to try rating the show as if it was an original series.
Through this lens, I would call the anime average to bad, for trying something unique but not managing to make it work.
This is the hardest series for me to rate that I have ever watched and I can easily see me giving this anything from 3 to 8.
Today's score will be 4.75/10... I guess...

Good finale. Gotta hand it to Uka in the previous episode when she didn't ask Kai to date her, but instead spoke from her heart about her true feelings saying she'd like to be his girlfriend instead. They seem somewhat similar, and they are, yet a bit different. And then when he kissed her, she thought it was a dream, turned out it was reality, so the next step is for any of the 2 to actually ask the other to date him/her.

Kai then just asked her to date him after Uka just asked him to date her? The frig? Like, is that your way of saying "sure, let's date"? Cuz i think i just said how the answer is supposed to be, i would've just preferred if any of the parties, you know, asked the other & the other actually directly answered, but that was not the case, instead you get 2 lovey-dovey Uka & Kai just casually asking the same question to each other without any of the 2 actually answering the other, haha.

But i guess whatever, it is what it is, i hope for a season 2 although i was a bit upset that i did not receive any notifications for a 2nd season, so this might be a forgotten one in the future, yet i hope not. I hope it gets renewed for a 2nd season, if there actually is a continuation of the manga, but if there ain't and this is just it, then good show, was a fun ride while it lasted.

While I still maintain that the story was Kimi ni Todoke: Abridged, the art for this series was on another level. I think the background, setting, and even some character design was the best I have seen in contemporary shoujo anime! Not to mention when they use certain episodes to get extra-artsy (like doing a Revolutionary Girl Utena/Monogatari homage for the penultimate episode of the season).

I need a second season just for the art alone. I possibly will peak ahead at the manga for a bit just to satisfy my curiosity in the meantime.

What an amazing series! My favourite romance this season honestly.
The last episode meeted my expectations and then some! Ishomori and Kai are so cute together.

What a wild ride its been, I really hope we get a second season but I doubt it, not sure on where the manga is at but would be great if its still ongoing/more to adapt. However, with that being said, its a good place to end. Short and sweet animes are the best!

Thank you to the author, the animation studio and the voice actors for bringing this show to life! I need more of these shows in my life.

Well this was just some pure sweetness of a finale, they kinda had us for a bit that Uka might retract her boldness when she was delirious, there was even the love letter which seemed like it might cause issue, but nope Uka doubled down and Kai responded in full, the classroom scene between the two of them was amazing stuff, I never knew so much tears could be produced by such a small girl lol.

And even after that it seemed like Uka might fall back, but again she doubled down and asked Kai out in front of everyone at the morning assembly, and what does Kai do? Bro takes full advantage and sets things in stone before everyone, that’s gonna make for hell of a “how I met your mother” story lol. That was absolutely golden tho, such a good way to end the show, even if there’s more manga from here it really does make for a good stopping point, of course I’d love to see more but I feel very satisfied after seeing that.

And that was it for the soda that is honey and lemon flavored, I’m not the biggest shoujo guy and haven’t seen many of them, but what I have seen has been really good, and I think this show sits right up there with them, I really enjoyed it. Uka is by far one of the cutest female MCs I’ve seen in any anime, she’s so damn sweet and I loved her journey from being someone that could barely speak to making her own decisions for herself by the end, Kai complimented her very nicely too, even if there were times where he seemed not so trustworthy lol. And the ost man, that really took this show to a different level, what it didn’t do in animation and at times pacing, it did in artwork and music, there were a few times where I felt the ost went on a bit too long but it was so good that I didn’t really mind it, it’s definitely an anime ost I’ll return to frequently, same with the bops that were the OP and ED. It would be really nice if this got another season one day, but as I said before, I’m fine with it ending here too, but I’ll never turn down more Uka and Kai content if it were to come around!

Miura, the madlad, had the balls to go up to address the whole school at the assembly and asked Uka out right then and there before walking off the stage. The initial reaction to that, along with many broken hearts from the other girls, was pretty funny, I have to admit! XD

Still, I'm glad that, despite the many setbacks and hesitation, Uka and Miura are now dating, which was a fitting way to end the last episode of the anime. This series has been rather intriguing with how it developed the main cast. It's not the best that I've seen, but I found it pretty enjoyable for the most part.

The animation quality was good, with the previous episode's quirky style being my highlight, while the music was consistently impressive all-throughout. Ayumi will be my favourite girl for how supportive she has been for Uka, adding to her kind personality.

Overall, I'll settle for a 7/10.

I didn’t get the usual excitement I experience at a big confession! I just felt like something was missing from this anime. It’s hard not to compare it to kimi no todoke, because Uka is so similar to Sawako but I feel like it needed to take its time with developing the characters more.

I see why Uka is attracted to Kai, but I just don’t see how Kai likes her. I feel like we need more of his perspective. Honestly I think that would have been more compelling like get the bad boy narrative and his back story and he starts to notice her because of XYZ. It just went from gosh you are
pain and I’m your protector/caretaker comments to I love you. Maybe her saying she could be his strength was the catalyst?

Also LOL at the shot of all the classmates at the end, like idk who any of you are besides ayumi and serina.

To me the season finale could've been a bit stronger. It had some strong points, and some low points. I do enjoy the reminiscing of the past events of the anime leading up to where they are now, but to me it feels like this episode was rushed in a way. Still a very solid episode, a 7/10 from me on the episode, but this season as a whole gets an 8/10. I enjoyed it all the way through and would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a nice wholesome, heartfelt anime.

@RobertBobert Because 1) gyarus make great characters, and the more the better; and 2) because almost all the guys are closeted gay for Kai. It wasn’t discussed because it would mess up the main plot. But I would like to see a spin-off in an Alternate Universe that’s a BL harem, with the same cast.

I usually hate public confessions but they managed to make this one not TOO cheesy (still a little cheesy) while also being a perfect character moment for Uka to own her feelings in front of everyone. We also know people would freak out if Kai was taken and got that little moment at the end, too.

Uka cries so much man lmao. At least three times this episode, I think? She’s such a mess but I don’t think a shojo romance with this animation quality would have been any fun if the main character wasn’t a mess lol. Probably my unexpected good watch for the season.

Absolutely wonderful rom-com. They really nailed the landing in the final episode as well.

There is a LOT of subtlely in this show and I really like the slow paced movements of the characters. Having a pretty stellar side cast also helped and the MCs are not so distant that can't be relatable.
