Do you think it is degrading or disrespectful to name your cat after Rem? I randomly thought about this and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand its adorable to name a pet after Rem as it shows you really like Rem and care about her enough to name your pet after it which is in a way your child. And then on another hand given how Rem was the second choice/third choice and was shotdown so miserably despite the most loving speech i've ever heard makes me think it is disrespectful to name an animal after her.

What do you guys think?

i think most important thing is how you see her and respect her and your pet!!
rem is cute 😍 and young it's appropriate 👍
but if you take any elder character or Most popular loveable character like (naruto luffy, ichigo, ) only then it would be disrespectful !!

My sister named our cat Machi from Fruits Basket because she's her favorite character from the show. So I think it's OK to name your pet after an anime character😆

I seems you don't understand or haven't remembered what happened to rem or don't know what happened to rem. In the second season of Re:Zero rem is forgetten completely by everybody (with the exception of Subaru) including herself and is in a coma.

"Who is Rem? You sure you don't mean Ram?" is a joke created by people due to this event.

She's a fictional character, if you want your cat to be named Rem go for it.

But I wouldn't want to have guests at home ask me what I named my cat after and having to show them my waifu.
