Lots of aura-farming here.

Really enjoying the 1988 Japan Cup arc a lot! Cygames, I'm begging you to give Obey the concert she deserved! LOL

Pay the Butler (Obey) won the 1988 Japan Cup against Tamamo Cross. Oguri finished 3rd by 1¼ lengths.

The Top 8 were all notable Cingray characters, including Running Free (Long Live Free), who finished 7th.

And that was the result. ngl, Obey Your Master was pretty scary, both inside and outside the racetrack. Sadly, they didn't show us her winning live.
Next stop, Arima Kinen.

Toni Biance: mentioned about Japan "Even if it takes place on a small island nation"
Japan's area: 377,974 km²
Italy's area: 302,073 km²
and also Ireland's area: 70,273 km²

Have to say that the trainers for Oguri and Tamamo really dropped the ball on this race. They should have absolutely warned their girls that the overseas racers are much more physical and prepared them for that instead of letting them get surprised mid race

Super stoked that Obey won though, she's such a sick character i was rooting for her crazy ass

What Oguri don't have as of now is stamina. She hasn't do any stamina training at all until she finally unlock Gourmand. In this race, she use pace chaser strategy so she could keep up nesr the front of the pack. But since she doesn't have enough stamina and also startled in the middle of the race, she unfortunately has to fall near behind of the group. As what Roppei suggested her to do if things don't go her way, she has to do tactical tweak (shatterproof) to reverse back to her original strategy. That was a really good showcase of the skill since this particular skill is mostly ignored lol. So she could reserve enough stamina to burst through to the front near the end of the race. I wonder what kind of song OYM sing in her winning concert. Oguri may be fast and strong but very lacking in stamina. Looking forward to what she would do to improve it since the rl horse doesn't like to swim.

This episode served up exactly what I want to see from the Umamusume series; cocky, arrogant, overconfident racers being humbled and put in their place. Although I’m very disappointed they didn’t deal with Michelle My Baby’s disgusting cheating

I was on my toes till the end. What a race.

Congrats to obey your master. Also i liked she was humble and gave her respects to tamamo knowing even after all that planning to counter her it still was a narrow victory. Still keeping her dual persona to the end. wish we could have seen her concert.

Also respects to toni bianca, even with a broken leg she finished her race and still came 5th. Truly the ruler of europe. I wish we could have seen who would have won if she was at full power, her rainbow aura was dazzling.

Oguri needs to keep her chin up. She was almost close to unlocking something but ran out of stamina. Even dicta felt it and knows oguri was there almost.

Raise the flags! We got Katsuragi Ace in a less-than-a-second flashback scene, but well... even that alone makes it the best episode ever!

I love everything about Obey Your Master. "Be the American Uma Musume the Japanese Uma Musume think you are" I love how she's a lot more than just a silly/funny stereotype with her wild joker personality. I'd love (and definitely pay) to see her winning live concert. It's a crime they keep skipping winning live concerts since Oguri Cap enrolled in Tracen Academy.

Oguri can see the peak, but she isn't quite there yet. Good to see that Obey Your Master didn't rub her win in but instead was thankful to Tamano Cross that she got to show her all against such a great racer.

PEAK PEAK PEAK...

Best race in the series so far...
Tama v Obey in the last spurt was absolutely freaking amazing๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ”ฅ
And what its worth Obey deserved her win more than anyone..
"I am not talented enough to define a era
But that's why I want this most"

For a horse that has one "BIG" win his career it was sure represented brilliantly. Guess she shuted all those low lifes.

I was rooting for Tama but seeing all her hardwork and struggle pay off was satisfying...
Poor Tama gave everything but was just short. Even her high guts can't even activate.
(Cygames giving global players crash course on guts & lane movement just before update?)

The pre concert scene between Tama & Obey was so cute and mutual respect they shared..

Don't need to worry about Ougri lol she's the main character and her time will come very soon I assume. But still making her run pace with more distance was horrible decision. Atleast she make Michelle my bitch taste some dust.

The Kikka Sho and Creek episode is still better imo but as a race Japan Cup is best so far. Perfect pacing. Next up Arima Kinen ah I can't wait๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I was unfortunately spoiled on the winner of the race before the previous episode, I’m still kinda mad about that but thankfully this episode still had lots of surprises in store, like Obey Your Master going mask off and swerving mid race to avoid the diameter around Tamamo Cross for the sake of a psychological aspect of Tamamo’s racing, that shit was so cool. Throw Toni Bianca’s rainbow aura in there too, it’s just a shame she hurt herself in the process and ended her badass moment early, however this allowed for Oguri Cap to take the 3rd place spot in her own epic moment when it was thought that she was down and out, which gave her the title of zombie according to Michelle My Baby lol.

But wow man, Obey really pulled quite the trickery on everyone, the backstory reveal paired with her true personality was well done, I never thought that she could be purposely suppressing her stats just for this race, and that she’d go as far as playing a character, but hey it worked out incredibly well for her, I’m happy she won and surprised the world. I am curious about that horse girl she based her fake personality on tho, she showed up once and that created the mask for Obey indirectly, not sure if we’ll ever know, but I thank her for giving Obey this idea. I wanna touch on Oguri a bit too, I like that they keep teasing her reaching the zone but she can’t quite do it yet, I’m sure she will eventually and it’ll be next level awesome when she does, but she still had a really good showing in the Japan Cup here despite not reaching it.

And the last moments of the episode were dedicated to each of the foreign horse girls before they return to their homelands, besides Toni because of an irl reason apparently, I like how they represented that. And I’m ngl I forgot Gold City was in that race lol, but I’m glad she and Ellerslie Pride have a friendship of sorts now. And I’m glad Obey and Tamamo left things positively after their dramatic race, it would be cool to see Obey return without her mask but for now it stays on, a shame about not getting that winning live tho, I’d almost prefer them not show the stage at all if we’re not getting it lol.

Obey Your Master really surprised everyone in this race, huh? No wonder this episode is called "The Wild Joker" due to hyper-focused research and on a course that played to her strengths. I'm glad that Tamamo Cross gave it everything she had, but it wasn't enough as Obey Your Master won the race by a narrow margin.

While she only got 3rd place, I'm happy that Oguri Cap got a chance to shine despite suffering from the aggression from Michelle My Baby earlier in the race. Being able to pass Michelle like that which left her shocked was satisfying, but the damage was done and Oguri didn't have enough to close in on Tamamo and Obey.

Although the race itself was heated and tense as hell, seeing Tamamo and Obey having a good chat between each other while also respecting each other was really nice to see. Seeing how the other foreign Uma's were getting on after the race was also nice as well. With this race done, the next main one should be the Arima Kinen. I'm hoping this is the race where Oguri will finally find what she is missing and use it to help her win. There's not a lot a time left before the race itself, so hopefully she'll find that missing piece of the puzzle that's holding her back from her true potential.

LETS GOOOO OBEY YOUR MASTER!!! Nice win! Was rooting for her. Cool seeing the two sides of her.

It really was between her and Tamamo Cross even though Oguri almost caught up she was just a bit short of reaching them.

Toni Biance I didn't expect her to win with the hype of Obey your master and of course Tamamo Cross but she actually was going to catch up but then her leg? So she was running with a broken leg I guess there needs to be a reason to the ruler of europe to lose. I hope to actually see her pop off some time since she is a supposed to be a big deal right?

Goddamn that episode was CRAAAAZY. I was cheering so hard for Obey Your Master the whole time, she's really grown on me the few episodes she's been around for and her personality is so cool. Her and Tamamo Cross becoming friends at the end was really sweet, too. Seeing Oguri Cap still manage to surge ahead for 3rd place was craaazy, she really is a beast goddamn!!

Seeing the friendships between the other racers was adorable, too. Lunacy visiting Toni Bianca after her injury was so sweet, and Gold City making friends with Ellerslie Pride was very nice. I hope we get to see these international racers again sometime, even if I'm excited for the coming episodes to probably focus back on Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross's rivalry and the others at Tracen. Super exciting episode!!

Well that was disappointing. Didn't like it at all. It's like the show has morphed into a joke of itself. First half of the episode was entirely exposition. Like who cares... So Obey Your Master can just change her Iris shape on a whim, those crazy yanks. I understand that Toni taking a sabbatical in Japan is a reference to the real horse becoming a stud for breeding but was Lunacy visiting her a reference to anything? Or did they just want to give her a scene before the episode ended?

@Laplace_kun Ellerslie Pride (IRL name Bonecrusher) is indeed a giga fan/simp of Gold City as shown in a couple of extras that the author made for this arc.

This is apparently a nod to both horses being super friendly to each other while preparing for the Japan Cup and also supposedly Bonecrusher's jockey was a big fan of Japanese horses.

As for Toni's zone, we never got a color page depicting it so it's unknown what color it is in the manga.

@Volcanianis thanks for the info! So it is a movie reference after all.

Feels great both Bonecrusher and Gold City went along well. Both were old enough to retire by that time and probably went: "hey buddy, what's next? :3"
