Do I need to read the original Crows?

Hello I'm just wondering if I need to read the prequel series Crows before reading this one. Will I be missing something if I don't?

Hi I would recommend reading it, as there are characters from the prequel that get mentioned and some that are now background characters.

You don’t have to but i think you should, plus some old characters are in this so it’s good to have background knowledge
