| The idea is nice, but the execution isn't. Perhaps it doesn't work well in anime form, but this would be a great Twilight Zone episode as someone already mentioned. |

| I really liked this one a lot. Taking a simple metaphor and running with it the whole way makes it one of the more elegant and coherent pieces in this anthology. I also like that they didn't insist, as is typical with more artistic pieces, on making the viewer piece everything together like a puzzle. He said it right at the end, "there are so many mes out there, I'm glad this is the one you saw first". If you don't put your true self forward from the beginning, then you won't be able to truly connect with anyone because all they will see is your other self. It's a simple message, and unfortunately one that I can relate to too well. |

| Well, that was spelt out pretty explicitly. The idea of multiple versions of "you" getting in the way of your life, and how the main character sort of takes a back seat to watching versions of him act in ways he didn't like. The idea of the "doorbell" more so takes into account the presence of others, where at the door bell, it's a question of which self the other person sees. Kind of reminds me of the id, ego, and superego concept, and it also reminds me of certain other shows such as Serial Experiments Lain and Mind Game that also deal with multiple interpretations of the self. Other then that, a noticeable thing about the animation is the use of blurred objects and characters to accentuate motion. |
