Synopsis

Link is a countryside boy who prefers taking care of a newborn chick named Piyoko to sword-fighting lessons with his grandfather. However, fate goes against his desires, for through his bloodline runs the legacy of many great knights who served the land of Hyrule. In addition, his left hand bears the mark of the sacred Triforce—a symbol of his destiny to protect the kingdom. With Piyoko in tow, Link leaves his grandparents' home one autumn morning and heads to the annual knights' trial at Hyrule Castle.

Although his path has been predetermined, Link gets sidetracked inside the castle and encounters the Triforce artifact, which whisks him to the fields just outside the village of Holodrum. There, he meets Din, a beautiful dancer who is part of a traveling troupe. Beyond being a performer, Din holds another role that is far more important to Link's fate: the mythical Oracle of Seasons.

Zelda no Densetsu: Fushigi no Kinomi - Daichi no Shou adapts the 2001 Game Boy Color game The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.

The series was published in English as The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons by VIZ Media under the VIZ Kids imprint on April 7, 2009. It was included in the complete The Legend of Zelda 10-volume box set published on October 25, 2011. The manga rereleased with Zelda no Densetsu: Fushigi no Kinomi - Jikuu no Shou as the second volume of VIZ Media's The Legend of Zelda: Legendary Edition on January 10, 2017.

(Note: this is my first manga review, so I would appreciate feedback)

For the most part, anime adapatations of video games have a bad name - sure, there are some good series out there (i.e., Gungrave, Canaan), you have a terrible adaptation out there (i.e., Green Green, Mars of Destruction). But you don't hear a lot about manga adaptations of video games. So, what do you get when you take one of the slightly lesser-known entries from one of Nintendo's biggest franchises and turn it into a manga? You get something that's actually quite enjoyable.

I'm not a big video-game fan since i was 14 years old, but Legend of Zelda always was a thing to me. Even if i was not playing games anymore, Zelda always had a kind of appeal of a great fantasy story and Link always has been since one of my favorite archetipe of hero.

I never understood why Zelda never got a tv series, either animated or with real persons, or a movie. I could bet money ...

If this is for kids, then kids deserve better. The plot barely exists at all, and it's undecided on whether it wants to be serious or goofy, instead alternating between them in a way that doesn't blend together well. Plot points are resolved either the same chapter as they're introduced, or at the start of the next chapter without giving it much thought. In particular, there's something that happens with Link's second confrontation with Onox that could have a powerful effect on the narrative, but it's just taken care of a few pages later with zero effort.
