While Violence Jack is a lot more mature in its content, the narrative style between both mangas is very similar. Both start out with simple stories about groups of gangsters/criminals facing off against an unbeatable hero, who gains the appreciation of several characters as the story progresses, and those characters join the hero's side in order to reach their individual objectives. One Piece, like Violence Jack, also gradually transforms its initially simple plot into a larger, all-encompassing, story of wars and political conflicts, and the characters that originally only held some small influence on their surroundings now see themselves facing off against the largest forces  read more
