Be wary that this is a story with its own content warnings.
Don't get me wrong, it's a gentle story. It's a sweet story. Everything about this story is well-crafted. The art is delicate and intricate, the pacing is slow and leisurely, and the plot for each chapters masterfully crafted so that they are building up to the inevitable climax without it being too overtly dramatic.
This is also as blatant a story about grooming as it could be, a situation that Uru acknowledges and prepares since the very beginning. I don't think you can ignore that part of the plot, because there lies both the beauty
...
and the tragedy, the pain and the joy.
Taro is cherished, protected, pampered. Yet he is also sheltered, caged, his world confined in that mystical forest even when he got to taste living amongst humans. And we know that Uru has nothing but love and care and good intention for Taro, but in the end he is still the one who possesses Taro's future. This is the sweetest Stockholm Syndrome I have ever read. And the sweetness of cherishing the present meshes together nicely with the bitterness of fearing the future. It's the perfect end to this delicate story.
