Synopsis

Yatarou Araki, a member of the Toujou High School soccer team, has big dreams. Within a decade, he sees himself conquering the soccer world's loftiest peak: European "football!" Fast forward to what may be his last soccer match before graduation, the match that will make or break his dreams. Having thus far failed to attract the attention of scouts, he is now desperate do whatever it takes to prove himself. Yatarou is prepared to get his hands dirty if it means winning. A tactical system in football emphasizing strong, organized defense and quick counterattacks. It relies on disciplined man-marking, a sweeper (libero) behind the defensive line, and shutting down opponents’ attacking play.

Story - 9:
Araki is a Midfielder turned CB, after his long and unaccomplished time in Japan from highschool where his aggressive, gutsy and tactical ability were put to the test in a semi-final loss against the best team in the nation to which the Olivera FC "scout", Silvio, of the Serie A, Italian league.

Catenaccio is a sports manga that isn't really similar to other football mangas.

For starters, we're introduced to our MC, Araki. We can see from chapter 1 that he is no prodigy and is not a genius at football either. Secondly, Araki plays the position 'centre back', which almost seems impossible to write an interesting story about, however the author has done a brilliant job at it - making every chapter greater than the previous. And finally, the story takes place outside of a high school and instead in an entirely different country.

Recently we have seen since really interesting football/soccer manga....r example- Ao Ashi, Blue Lock, Be blues, Giant killing.
There are a few average manga too.

Catenaccio here is a very good manga and might be among the best, if it keeps up the story.
Very realistic, goes into the details of the sport and shows you how the youth academies and the lower leagues function.
